Since at least 2013, very much media attention has been paid to the subject of online abuse, otherwise known as cyberviolence. According to "Cyber Violence: Recognizing and Resisting Abuse in Online Environments" by Susan C. Herring, cyberviolence is "online behavior that constitutes or leads to assault against the well-being (physical, psychological, emotional) of an individual or group." Cyberviolence includes repeated severe insults, threats, and slander. It is at least a prolonged assault on the victim's dignity, and at most harassment and death threats. In UK, Australia, Canada, and NZ, many people have been jailed for being rude online. According to a Big Brother Watch report titled "Careless Whispers: How speech is policed by outdated communications legislation", between 1st November 2010 and 1st November 2013, 355 people have been investigated and some convicted for posts on Social Media. The numbers for recent years are much higher. According to a 2014 BBC article, "Internet trolls face up to two years in jail under new laws". Most discussion about cyberviolence has centered on female victims. On September 24, 2015, United Nations released a report on cyberviolence against women. News search using terms "online abuse" in June 2017 obtained 45,800 results almost exclusively relating to female victims. Unfortunately, current society and Law Enforcement ignores and condones cyberviolence against men and cyberviolence perpetrated by Feminists and Liberals against anyone who disagrees with them. Some activists have argued that gender-specific approach to Domestic Violence is justified and that very few victims are male. That claim is plausible to some people due to the fact that Domestic Violence happens behind the closed doors. Cyberviolence happens in the most open forum. Not only is every word recorded, but also these records last for unlimited time. In 2017, we can read every online argument which happened in 1990s. Anyone who has studied large forums, Twitter, and comment sections will notice that those who offend Feminists and Liberals suffer most severe and most personal abuse. In 2017, Twitter bans most of users who personally insult Feminists and Liberals, but not those who insult Politically Incorrect users. Users who have high follower count are more likely to be banned. Raw Story allows commenters to post death threats and castration threats toward Conservative broadcasters and politicians. Most major forums have special areas where personal insults are allowed. Anyone who can stand these subforums will see that most insults are directed toward Politically Incorrect users.
The keepers of the major platforms are not liberals, that's why this is happening. The Great Invention (the innernet), possibly the first genuinely open marketplace of international ideas, was originally 'pure' in the sense that it was un-moderated to the highest degree that the broadest cross section of humanity could tolerate. But when the people at the top became possessed by the religion of Progressivism, the The Great Invention began a slow creep towards authoritarian orthodoxy.
We do not really know how it will work out. Totalitarians are trying to pressure major Social Media platforms to ban all Politically Incorrect groups and users. But there is Alternative Social Media rising for banned content.
PF is mostly Conservative forum. Because there are strict rules against personal abuse, many Politically Incorrect users hounded from other forums came here.
And this is why I will not post in an unmoderated forum. This one gets toxic enough with the "dirty democrat/rotten republican" rhetoric
The hope is that the alternatives will gain speed and strength. Else soon the internet will be a theocracy.

I hope that for some time Politically Incorrect people and groups will continue to be allowed on main Social Media. If they are forced of Social Media, then Alternative Social Media will thrive. Like Voat.
mostly conservative because many libs/progressives were banned while right wingers who abused forum rules were allowed to stay
Maybe. But mostly due to influx of refugees from many similar boards ruled by Liberals with an iron hand. There are intolerant/abusive Conservatives, but the percentage of intolerant Liberals is higher.
Some far right Conservatives are intolerant. But most moderate Conservatives are Free Speech supporters.
Speaking as an Independent, I get attacked far more often by the progressive left than I do the evangelical right. Your claims are bad, and you should feel bad.
What an absolutely fascist statement !! PC internet police tactics were what caused the NPR forums to be closed down. Please spare me from the, "control those who we decide need to be controlled," mantra...
Liberal 'merika' no longer support freedom of speech. It "harms" them, it is "dangerous" and leads to lost elections don't ya know??
Lol. Every internet spat since the '90s? That would be as exciting as Hitler watching paint dry. *Gratuitous Godwin's Law*.
They can only thrive where the constitutional rights of others are restricted. And yet they think they are on the right side.
'cyberviolence' Nonsense. Manufactured justification for the emotionally maladjusted to throw temper tantrums instead of adulting and learning to keep their emotions in check. Ultimately a path toward revoking free speech.
I agree totally, but from the other side. Liberals (and conservatives) can be vicious when not controlled.
