This is very disheartening, guess I will continue to get tested too?!! Does not say what vaccine these people took? If you get vaccinated you still need to wear a mask and social distancing too?!! I wonder if it was one of those new variants? I believe covid will be with us for awhile?!!

Over 100 people in Washington state have tested positive for COVID-19 more than two weeks after becoming fully vaccinated against the disease, officials said.

The Washington State Department of Health is investigating reports of the so-called breakthrough cases, which it said are expected with any vaccine.

Out of the 1.2 million people who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in Washington, epidemiologists have reported evidence of 102 breakthrough cases in 18 counties since Feb. 1, representing less than 0.01% of all fully vaccinated individuals in the northwestern U.S. state. Most cases were patients who experienced only mild symptoms, if any, according to a press release from the Washington State Department of Health.

It has always been said the vaccine does not prevent one from catching or spreading the virus. It just tames the impact to make it less lethal. 102 cases out of 1.2 million is statistically non-existent.

less than 0.01% of all fully vaccinated individuals

    And

Just don't "get it", huh? Like the flu, Covid is here to stay. Unlike the flu, however, Covid will be the excuse for every authoritarian wet dream edict to come down the pike from here on. If Covid were to disappear in a puff of vaccine the little Masters of The Universe in government would be simply DEVASTATED. And whiners, spare me the "body count", since when has a stack of corpses mattered save as tools to achieve political ends?

Did someone somewhere tell people that the vaccines were 100% effective? I think the news is that it's evidently 99.99% effective and not 94% like the trials suggested.

Both Pfizer and Moderna were hovering around the 95% efficacy rate (our site was 96% efficacy for Moderna) while Astrazeneca was originally at a 66% efficacy (dead virus vaccine) as well as Johnson & Johnson.

All this being said, that means your not immune to the virus and you can still come down with COVID. However, the immune system will already have a map to battle the virus so if you happen to catch it, the systems are vastly reduced

That is the efficacy rate (95% / 94%) not the effective rate. I think the goal is to get hospitalization and death rates down which all three vaccines are doing. Hopefully we don’t have an “I am legend” end result

“Efficacy is the degree to which a vaccine prevents disease, and possibly also transmission, under ideal and controlled circumstances – comparing a vaccinated group with a placebo group. Effectiveness meanwhile refers to how well it performs in the real world. Although a vaccine that has high efficacy – such as Moderna’s COVID-19vaccine with 94.5% efficacy and Pfizer’s with 90% efficacy – would be expected to be highly effective in the real world, it is unlikely to translate into the same effectiveness in practice.” https://www.gavi.org/vaccineswork/what-difference-between-efficacy-and-effectiveness

Isnt that just 100 confirmed cases? How many got covid after being vaccinated and just attributed the mild symptoms to a vaccine reaction or a cold? And thus didn't go get tested.

...prolly a similar amount that got covid before the vaccine and just attributed the mild symptoms to a cold.

I dont see much 'there' here.

So does that mean that those who the vaccine works on, cannot spread the virus, and that those whom the vaccine didn't work on can pass it ?

That these 100, a very small fraction of vaccines given, tested positive to antibodies, some not showing any symptoms and ones that did mild, and breakthrough is normal for any vaccine which helps your immune system fight a virus.

"Breakthrough infections, which occur when fully vaccinated people are infected by the pathogen that their shots were designed to protect against, are an entirely expected part of any vaccination process. They’re the data points that keep vaccines from reaching 100 percent efficacy in trials; they’re simple proof that no inoculation is a perfect preventative. And so far, the ones found after COVID-19 vaccination seem to be unextraordinary."

What is disheartening is the MSM and Biden administration so desperate to find something ANYTHING to promote a doom and gloom they can then try to claim the saved us from.

Some of these 100 didn't show any signs they merely tested positive on a test and the ones that did had only mild symptoms. Seems to be working.

That happened before vaccination as well, at a rate that we can only guess.

To my knowledge, sterilizing immunity still hasn’t been tested on a scale large enough to answer this question.

100 out of 1.2 million is effectively zero. If you're vaccinated, throw away your mask. You don't need it.

the vaccine does not prevent you from getting covid, it teaches your body how to fight it off

a vaccine is not a huge bubble that surrounds you and prevents the virus from entering

no it does not, you think the virus starts to enter your body and there is a magic barrier that stops it

no, the vaccine just prepares your immune system to attack if it does enter your body

WTF do you think "getting covid" means? I think to most sane people it means getting a covid infection - exactly what a vaccination prevents.

Even a non vaccinated person may be exposed to the virus and not "get covid".

Unless every batch of the vaccine is perfect, it's possible some people received a weak, old, improperly stored, or otherwise defective vaccine. Can anything being produced in the hundreds of millions have a 100% QC passing rate? And maybe some people are just a lot more sensitive to the virus to the point where the vaccine works. Heck, I've heard the vaccine has killed people after they were injected with it.
