I am going to utter a couple of facts right here:

1- Yes, darker-skinned people are more given to anarchism, and have a higher proportion of condamnations. But they are also poorer and less educated.

2- The police force is an exclusive "boys' club" which is impossible to break or discipline, and that is more and more cut off from the population they (are supposed to) serve, instead protecting the elites' status quo with increasingly military-looking appartus. "Us and Them", it is.

IMO, the painting is too much - but it's still better than jail terms as far as the police is concerned, IMO.

I can't wait to have these guys replaced by photoradars and drones.

A Missouri congressman has sparked outrage after a painting he approved depicting police officers as animals was placed on display in the U.S. Capitol building.

The painting, by high school senior David Pulphus, shows the unrest in Ferguson, Mo. after the 2014 death of Michael Brown. The piece won Rep. Lacy Clay, D-Mo.’s annual Congressional Art competition in May, and so was selected to be displayed at the Capitol complex.

The piece depicts two police officers, whose heads are replaced by animal heads – one of which appears to be a pig -- aiming guns at protesters who are carrying signs saying “History” and “Racism Kills.” In the background is a crucified black man in a graduation cap holding the scales of justice.

Clay praised the piece in a press release in May, saying it “portrays a colorful landscape of symbolic characters representing social injustice, the tragic events in Ferguson, Missouri and the lingering elements of inequality in modern American society.”

Congressional Republicans also expressed dismay at the decision to display the painting in the Capitol.

The article in the OP clearly stated that this was a Congressional art exhibit.
Perhaps I'm wrong, but I didn't think the President appoints members of Congress. I thought the voters elected them.
Perhaps I'm wrong, but I thought that, at the time of this incident, Republicans held a majority in Congress.

 

It's amazing how conservatives yell and scream about the Constitution and then want to ignore the concepts of separation of powers when it pleases them. I'm sure Putin would have never allowed a painting denigrating the politsiya (the Russian federal law-enforcement agency).

 

Yes remember when during the BLM protest and gun shots rang out, the protesters, who seconds before we mocking the police and saying they were killers and pigs, then literally RAN and hid behind those very officers. The officers who not seconds before were being mocked and spat on by these scumbags, then ran towards the danger to protect those very protesters.
A perfect illustration of just how full of it these protesters were. If they were so afraid of police and think of them as pigs, then why did they run behind them like frightened rabbits being chased by a predator?
