Skynews reports that tear gas and water cannons have been used. There are several dramatic photos at the link. Weren't we just told that Trump was a war criminal or something for using tear gas? How could this be happening under Macron?

They are morons who don't have a single brain cell, who will wind up paying for everything they destroy, either through higher insurance premiums or higher taxes.

    Yet, he gets elected.

That is what we all need to look at - who's casting the ballots? Maybe we need a means test for voters. Good topic for a new thread.

    Funny.

The behavior is bad either way, no one has the monopoly on lawlessness. However, the Paris crowd is pro-Trump.

Does it strike anyone as ironic that the French working class is demonized by the Regressives for wanting to retain their culture, but here in the USA the same regressive globalists pander to everyone's cultural identity?
Or, that a star gets publicly pilloried for having a "cowboys and indians" party for their kids, but Hollywood is producing movies where blacks are cast in the roles of Margaret of Anjou, or Achilles?
Anyone else confused by the neo-socialist Clucks?

They are protesting Global Warming taxes.

The U.S. may not ‘believe’ in climate change. But we’re the only one doing something about it.

Nineteen nations “believe” in climate change. How are they backing up their statement of faith?

China was praised for signing on to the Paris Climate Agreement and in Argentina reaffirmed its commitment to controlling greenhouse gas emissions. Last year, however, China increased those emissions by 1.7 percent.

India, the fourth largest source for CO2, saw their emissions grow by 4.6 percent in 2017. Luckily for them, they too were praised for signing that “nonbinding communiqué.”

Overall, the European Union raised their CO2 output by 1.5 percent.

France, home of the Paris Agreement, is leading the diplomatic effort to save the planet. They increased their greenhouse gas emissions by 3.6 percent. . . .

If the nations paying lip service to climate change aren’t meeting their goals, imagine how poorly the oil-drilling, coal-mining Americans must be doing. President Donald Trump was pilloried for withdrawing from the Paris Agreement and for being only G20 leader who refused to sign the climate change statement in Argentina.

From 2016 to 2017, U.S. greenhouse gas emissions decreased by 2.7 percent. Emissions from large power plants declined 4.5 percent since 2016, and nearly 20 percent since 2011. All without signing a piece of paper in Paris or Buenos Aires.
It’s almost as if they’re more interested in submission to a transnational bureaucracy than in results. And note that the U.S. reduction comes from the switch to cleaner fuels made possible by fracking, which environmentalists opposed.

You sound like a fan of tyranny and an opponent of Individual Freedom and Liberty

MAYBE CONSISTENTLY DOING THINGS VOTERS HATE, THEN TALKING DOWN TO THOSE VOTERS WHEN THEY COMPLAIN, IS A POOR STRATEGY: Macron’s Defeat in Paris Sounds Alarm for Europe.

Less than a month ago, French President Emmanuel Macron staked his claim as the flag-bearer for globalism. In a speech to 60 world leaders at the Arc de Triomphe, he eulogized the United Nations and declared nationalism the “betrayal” of patriotism.

Last Saturday, tear gas and cobblestones flew in the same part of Paris as protesters trashed the iconic monument and demanded Macron’s embattled government withdraw a proposed fuel-tax increase. For the first time in his presidency, he backed down. It was a humbling moment for opponents of the populist revolts that spawned Donald Trump.

The problem is, too much of the political class — and of the business class for that matter — places virtue-signalling for peer approval above actually doing its job. And people have noticed.

So once they get Macron out of office, likely the only other option will be for French politics to go more polarized. We'll likely see a fairly strong socialist (similar to Francois Hollande) versus a Marine Le Pen candidate.
There will likely be more riots.

In case any of you forgot, the French public wasn't very happy with Macron, but they weren't quite prepared to go with Le Pen's National Party, so they begrudgingly went with Macron as a drab "lesser of two evils".

Considering the number of people which protest (more than 100 000), the number of problems is really small. There is a lot of people, but maybe the government don't really wish the criminals which infiltrate the protests to be arrested to discredit the movement.
