It has always astounded me the nature of both pedophiles and the crimes they commit- particularly that most pedophiles do not abuse and then quarantine their victims. They abuse them...and then they just let them loose into the public again. And then they will repeatedly abuse them for years after that.

To me it seemed like one would face fairly immediate repercussions for letting the victim get away, but this doesn't happen. For some reason- even when the abused do inform other people- it's met with an inexplicable wall of either denial or disinterest. It astounds me how a pedophile can be so confident that he can do this to a kid, let them go into public unsupervised by them, and seemingly expect to get away with it.

I keep hearing these stories over and over again and in some the pedophilia seems to extend well beyond the abuser and victim and into society. There was a documentary about how a priest in a convent systematically raped kids in the facility during daytime hours. He would call them into his office out of class...rape them...then send them off again...and that at some point he was bringing in other people to join in. How is that possible?

I get the feeling the pedophilia is something that's a lot larger than it seems.

It has always been around. Have you ever heard of a cabin boy for ship's captains?

I remember a sociology professor reading a letter complaining about pedophiles and crime. You can't even send your kid to the local pool without worrying about them getting raped, the writer lamented.

It was written by a Greek citizen in around 500 BC, IIRC.

Depends on whether they are boys or girls. Girls tell, boys don't. For those who abuse girls, the average is about eight victims. For those who abuse boys, the average is about 150 victims. And the split is strangely about 45/55, about 55% of all abusers prey on boys rather than girls. This is not what you would expect when homosexuals only account for about 2.5% of the population. Oh, and the "pedophile" term is misused here. A pedophile is technically anyone who is sexually attracted to children, whether or not s/he acts on it. An abuser is someone who abuses children, many of whom are not actually pedophiles but rather opportunists. Supposedly there are many more pedophiles than there are abusers, and more abusers than pedophiles who sexually abuse children.

Apparently there are a lot of heb*ephiles in society, too. An informal survey of women taken by yours truly found that most women's first sexual experience occurred when she was 13, with an older man.

Apparently the bot thought I was making an anti-Semitic slur and blocked out "he*be".
