In the 1980s, I created a customized music tape cassette using the Personics System. I went to a kiosk in a music store where I could pick out songs from a somewhat limited catalog and get a personalized cassette a few minutes later. My choices:

Side A: Love Missile F1-11, 1999, The Look, Sugar Walls, Motorcrash, 99 Luftballoons, It’s My Life

Side B: West End Girls, What’s on Your Mind, Obsession, White Wedding

The finished cassette was labelled with all the songs and included my personalized cassette title.

The Personics System never caught on but it was an odd precursor to iTunes.
