I am not on the left and did not vote for Obama nor Trump. Stupid to give any POTUS too much credit for things they have no power over

Yes, yes... I know the typical radical Democrat recitation of one-liner responses, but I'm asking you to go a little deeper than that....

If White people are so desperate to live somewhere where there is no concentration of Blacks, there MUST be a very substantial reason for it, considering what a gigantic pain in the ass it is to sell your house, buy a different house, and go through all the bullshit involved in uprooting your life and moving.

Consider: Nobody is born being a "racist prick" -- but they may become "racist pricks" based on life-experiences they have with others.

    Oh gotcha. Let me clarify.

They were racist pricks.... who also were racist. The decisions they made were because they were racist. And attempting to justify their racism is... actually downplaying the role of racism in their decision making by making racism seem like a logical answer.

    Um, interesting circular reasoning.

OK, then -- assuming that no one is BORN being a "racist", what makes them BECOME "racist"...? Discover that, and I suspect you will be much closer to an actual, valid answer.

No, I was asking a question since you gave Trump credit.

Clearly you do not have an answer so you play this silly game.

I get it. You can't read a chart.

16% - 6%. That is a 10% drop in the unemployment of blacks. Or 62.5% drop. During the years of 2010 to 2016. Obama years.

6%-5.5% is a 0.5% drop in unemployment of blacks. Or 8.33% drop. trump years.

In your world, which numbers are the better improvement numbers? The entire forum would like to know.

Circular but not viciously circular. Big difference.

And my answer is because they were racist. Getting into the origins doesn’t matter so much as their effects, as this thread is about.

It is an op ed precisely fitting the definition you provided.

There is no expert cited in it. Law professlors abound and are as common as ticks on a deer they are not experts.

Experts provide evidence none is provided here.

The claim is absurd and laughable and has no support to it. Those are facts

I disagree, because the phenomenon described as "White flight" is a behavior, witnessed for decades, among millions of people. Why would millions of White people go through all this misery and disruptions, undergoing all this without a VALID reason...? Without studying those "origins", you can never understand the real situation!

"Racists are MADE... not born...." Can we at least agree on that much?

I mean sure but you’re not addressing why it’s on topic. The question of this thread is whether or not highways are the result of racist policy decisions. Not necessarily the motivations of the people who did move. Unless you’re going to argue that the motivations were not racist, which you need to be careful with otherwise you can end up justifying racist positions.

Well, I think it is on-topic, because Buttigieg is telling us that racism is "physically built-into" the nation's highways. When a Secretary of Transportation makes a blanket statement like that, surely he has some rock-solid, demonstrable reasons to do so.

You were the one who brought "white flight" into the discussion with your Post #5 in this thread. I have been trying to respond to that, and to examine what actually has caused 'White flight', and if it is, indeed, a product of "racism". But now you don't want to talk about that at all. Why not?

To be candid -- yes, there has surely been 'White flight' in this country... ever since the 1960's. A person would have to be blind and totally dishonest to say that there has not been a great deal of 'White flight' in this country. And, logically, because there have been very substantial shifts in the location of so much of the entire population, many of the highways, roads, and streets have been located and built accordingly. But -- WHY did White citizens disperse in the way that they did...?

You won't ever change anything until you understand WHY something happened....

Right but you’re saying that the cause is mysterious and up for debate. When it’s not. We know people were racist back then because of things like the education system. And fears of black oeople. At this point it just feels like you want to ask how do we know America was even racist back then. Which is just a ridiculous argument to even propose. It’s why I don’t want to engage in this debate you’re proposing. I just need to establish White flight was a thing. I don’t need motivations beyond they were racist.

    REALITY

    Pete The Butt
    is racist against Black men

And he is white washing the truth
    with such stories.
Is he hoping the Black vote will do for him
what it did for a 3rd tier Democratic candidate, Biden

All I can say is that if you were giving Buttigieg advice, he would simply say, "Yep, then America has been racist forever, and so we're going to move all the highways somewhere else!" And even if we didn't go belly-up, and totally BROKE trying to finance that, in the end, there would just be MORE 'White flight', wouldn't there...? We'd move all the thoroughfares, and then, according to the logic I think you're advancing, White Americans would just move again -- somewhere else!

That's why I stick by my assertion that to make any headway, we must first understand WHY White Americans were so "racist" -- if, indeed, all these many, many years since desegregation and the 'bad old days', we really are still "racist".

I guess the short answer is to try to understand what Buttigieg is driving at, and what HIS "end goal" is.

Anybody can stand up and start screaming "RACIST, RACIST" at White people. It's done every day, all the time, and it's quite in fashion right now. How is this latest fad, in the year 2021, going to affect highway construction priorities, funding, and spending?

Remember that we are a nation that has gotten ourselves approximately TWENTY-EIGHT TRILLION DOLLARS IN DEBT, with more piling up every second. Now, more than ever, we need to think carefully about what we're doing -- and WHY!

First off I don't care what the "entire forum would like to know" lmao :)

As for Mr. Obatards Gynormis numbers, well when you start from a crash it's pretty much a gimmie on a RESET.. But hell why dredge up old silly ass DNC arithmatricks :)

I'd rather see a better numbers from a starting place like Barry's "New Norm" then one from the basement.. Then again participation trophies are a leftist thing the real achievers beat the best guys score not the special needs top game!

From her Law Review Paper she wrote.

...Indeed, it has always been a driver of inequity. For decades, using public transportation was a daily reminder of the legal and social inferiority of Black people, particularly in the South. Black people were relegated to the back of the bus and required to give up their seats to white people on demand.30 In train stations, Black people were forced to wait in separate waiting areas, with separate bathrooms and drinking fountains.31
    ...

...43In St. Petersburg, Florida, alone, ten Black churches were moved to make way for I-275. Raymond A. I see you were left with nothing but deflecting and dodging. Thats what they all do when they were shown to be wrong.
    but... but... but...???

Better for you. Rather than admitting Obama did way way way more for Blacks in the employment area than trump. trump just rode the coattails of Obama.
