Spoken just like the gun grabbers--look at every single "good guy with a gun" thread for more of the exact same reasoning. You okay with a German Shepherd doing the same thing to a child? A Doberman? A Rottweiler? Maybe we should outlaw cats, since they also kill kids. Just outlaw everything dangerous. Let the Nanny State take care of you.

I do not like Rottweiler's either, but the numbers clearly say that pits are by far the worst aggressors.

    2016 dog bite fatality statistics2
    • 31 U.S. dog bite-related fatalities occurred in 2016. Despite being regulated in Military Housing areas and over 900 U.S. cities, pit bulls contributed to 71% (22) of these deaths. Pit bulls make up about 6% of the total U.S. dog population.3
    • Together, pit bulls (22) and rottweilers (2), the second most lethal dog breed, accounted for 77% of the total recorded deaths in 2016. This same combination also accounted for 76% of all fatal attacks during the 12-year period of 2005 to 2016.
    • The breakdown between these two breeds is substantial over this 12-year period. From 2005 to 2016, pit bulls killed 254 Americans, about one citizen every 17 days, versus rottweilers, which killed 43, a citizen every 102 days (Related graph).

The thing is, the only thing those dog you mention are good for is NOTHING :) Granted, if your thing is wild boar hunting then a American Staffordshire Terrier is a must, other than that they're pretty much useless the rest of the year!

Your question was an intellectually dishonest straw man that ignored everything written to invent something else entirely. You presented a desperate misdirection and then claimed it was misdirection for someone to try to stick to the actual claims. How bizarre.

Hunting, home defense, companionship. But spoke just like the gun grabbers. The burden of proof is on you to prove you need it, nevermind your rights! Government "rights" trump individual rights! Also, "pit bull" refers to more than just ASTs.

I'm afraid that the "pit bull banners" = "gun banners" is a flawed comparison. Pit bulls can act on their own & frequently do; guns do not.
When the statistical evidence strongly concurs with anecdotal accounts theres a good reason to be more cautious in the treatment of pit bulls.
Banning them is impossible but requiring muzzles for them in public is not. Thats how I think the issue should be resolved.

    Oh no, not another anecdote!
Gun owners do, and with much, much greater frequency. So yeah, banning pit bull ownership is much like banning gun ownership.

. . . The person advocating for more government interference is accusing those of arguing for less government interference of "worshipping" government. Doublespeak squared

A young kid had to have his leg amputated here because of a pit bull. The dog was tearing up his little brother so the kid attacked the dog and got him off his brother, but he paid with a leg for saving his brother. Very brave kid.

I'm not for banning, but maybe having to post a $50,000 bond at the courthouse in case something goes wrong. I don't know if liability insurance is available for any kind of a dog. We've had Dobermans, Heinz 57's, and now have a Schnauzer that was recently given to us by someone who could no longer tend to her.

The jaw muscles of a pit bull are so much bigger and stronger than the average dog that they can be like a mountain lion without the retractable claws. I don't think I could ever completely relax around a pit, even if it was mine.

If I did get a pit I would want one from a devoted breeder who sleeps on the floor with the dam and the litter from day one for maximum socialization. Those are generally the kind of breeder whose dogs, of any breed, win the big competitions in New York, and their pups do not come cheap. They do DNA tests, CAT scans of hips, etc., and a lot of veterinary care to make sure their dogs are at the very top of the breed, and you might pay $10,000 for a pup and have to sign a contract to show the dog in competition until it is 3 or 4 years old in order to buy the dog. You cannot do any breeding without the original breeder being in control of it and approving it -- and the original breeder has the right to force you to get any veterinary service they want for dogs in their line -- you have their dog and they own the bloodline. But hospital bills ain't cheap either.

No. I'm hispanic on my mother's side.

Are latinos or blacks or jews or whites, in general, better or worse, in your opinion, on any aspect whatsoever than any of the other grooups? What does having "the institutional power required for racism." mean?

This implies that somebody does have the institutional power required for racism. Why don't latinos have it?. What indicates to you that they don't?

I know too many Pitt bulls that are simply....dogs. sweet, loving and loyal. Within regular families (as opposed to gangs and thug owned) these dogs are no more dangerous then the German shepherd, doberman, or any other guarding type dog.

Not all pitbulls, and not all assault rifles, and not all muslims...

So no. Until you lefties can get your talking points together, then maybe we can have a discussion.

Until then, may the cognitive dissonance be with you.

I believe that Chihahuas are the number one breed of dog that bites and one of the leading causes of death in the US according to the CDC after heart attacks, eating vegetables (choking hazard), bee stings and storms.

Go....run...now! As quietly as you can to the front door and then run to your car and drive as far away from that homicidal monster as fast as you can before it nips you to death and don't look back. If you have kids in the house........well screw them you can always buy more so just get to safety immediately. I implore you.
