I simply correct righties when they are wrong. If you don't do that they start to believe their own BS.

You paragraph is kind of incoherent. Are you angry with the truth?

I wasn't the one to say that people that get paid can't donate to a political campaign. They can..
That is what the thread is about.

IF YOU USE RED IT'S EVEN BETTER!

Some people were saying that money from the government could not have been used for this PAC. Any insight into this? I have to say that I would be stunned if there wasn't such a safeguard in place for government funded organisations.

My position in this particular matter and PP is simple the federal government should not send taxpayer dollars to political lobbying groups. And as noted:

"Wen said in a letter to the organization’s 55 affiliates and senior leadership that she had tried to broaden the organization’s mission to include a wide array of health-care services, including abortions.

“I am leaving the organization sooner than I’d hoped because of philosophical differences about the direction and future of Planned Parenthood,” she wrote in the letter. But “the new board leadership has determined that the priority of Planned Parenthood moving forward is to double down on abortion rights advocacy.”

Engaging even more so in political activity.

how do you get mostly taxpayers money? First only 1/3rd of the money in their budget is federal funds and only 3.5% of their budget is for abortions. These rates for funding are less than most healthcare providers such as hospitals and clinics. As a Catholic who opposes abortion on moral grounds, I wish abortion to go away, but I also don't want advocates to be silenced either.

They have no right to ANY federal funds, they are blatantly engaging in political activity. Cut the ties.

I'm missing your correlation here. This is about Title X funds. If their purpose moves from providing healthcare to promoting political agendas yes.

I am. What makes that hospital/clinic any different from any other hospital clinic medical provider? All they have to do is say the money was raised for the purpose of lobbying. They get millions in private support every year.

I think some posters here think that the government gives them the majority of their funding. Like every hospital they get funding from private sources, health insurers, and medicare/Medicaid.

Why, doesn't your local hospital have a pac to increase medicare funding. Do doctors have pacs?

Why I don't want freedom of speech for pro abortion/choice? because I believe in free speech. I'm in the minority as a pro life person, the majority of americans believe in the right to choose.

And do you understand how little percentage of title X funds was as part of their budget? As long as they keep the books clean and title X moneys are clearly only spent on education type services, I don't see the problem.

but since they will no longer take title X money, what are you concerned about?

I don't care what is the amount and make sure donations to them are not tax deductible.

As in they have the RIGHT to funding? If so, how?

What makes Planned Parenthood different from any other hospital clinic medical provider? The fact that they
are private and not providing a life preserving medical service except in rare abortion cases to save the mother.

All they have to do for what purpose?

So then they could easily do without government funding then, right?

Isn't there a law against religious institutions being tax exempt and lobbying or donating to campaigns?

Are you sure it's not illegal to take government funds and then lobby? It seems like taking government funds is above and beyond a tax exemption.
