'Play it down': Trump admits to concealing the true threat of coronavirus in new Woodward book

So Trump openly lied and misled the public about the virus. In his own words he admits that he downplayed the virus. Oh Lordy, THERE ARE TAPES!

 

As if we didn’t know this , but he let people die for political reasons. He told Woodward that in Feb...what did he tell US in March?
"But we've never closed down the country for the flu," the president said during an appearance on Fox News on Tuesday. "So you say to yourself, 'What is this all about?' "

 

Even for a Complete Imbecile (like Trump) who has been in way over his head since the day after the 2016 Election, allowing himself to be interviewed by Woodward on tape is unfathomable.

Can't wait to hear the "spin", once Trump's Handlers spoonfeed him his talking points.

 

Playing the death card again, Obama didn't close down the country either.

 

Why did he compare it to the flu when he knew it wasn’t comparable?
How many died because of his lies?

If instead of playing down what he knew, Trump had acted decisively in early February with a strict shutdown and a consistent message to wear masks, social distance and wash hands, experts believe that thousands of American lives could have been saved.


Back then his experts were saying masks would not stop the virus. I could pull up quotes but why bother you know who wont bother to read them.

 

Trump downplayed it while others called for massive shutdowns. Which side was closer?

 

They blame him for not shutting down the economy when the only way he could have done that was to use existing EO's for national emergencies which would have been challenged to hell and back in the courts never mind you had Pelosi until late March trying to pass legislation to block any travel bans he implemented. You also had Biden calling them "Xenophobic" Now the same people are being critical of it...

 

Oh well.

I see some of Trump's "talking points" are emerging.

Obviously, nobody (for a minute) is accepting anything that Trump says about this Epic Fail.

Why would Trump give Woodward an interview on tape?

Are you saying Pelosi was not trying to block all travel bans? Are you saying a President shutting down an entire economy would have not been chalenged? Do you think States have more authority on the issue on state by state level then the Federal Government?

The economy did not need to be shut down if Trump didn't ignore the issue and lie about it for months.

As for the travel restriction being xenophobic, it was. It only affected foreign nationals and did not directly address the virus, just the nationality of people. Meanwhile the virus came in from Europe.

 

The virus began in China which is why the first travel ban started there. Later he had a ban on travel from Europe ( including eventually GB) but you already knew that.

Are you suggesting the President should have banned citizens from coming home?

 

Downplaying it turned out to be closer to the truth than the opposing sides presentation of it.

 

Not even close. We have nearly 200k dead and millions who survived but will have chronic injuries. Trump knew this and lied about it.

 

He should have pushed testing especially screening from ALL COUNTRIES. He also should have told his supporters it was serious instead of saying it was like the flu.
