It will spread. Any place that has selfish dicks who inconvenience or endanger others should copy it. Shame needs to return to civic life. I'm guessing that some of the worst guys, who are violent and abusive, lose their jobs. We no longer have the stocks for people like this but we do have youtube.
Spoke to Farmer Paul about it yesterday. Was the first time it had been used after the rebuild. Cost a fortune, it's lucky that there are so many enthuiasts out there doing this sort of thing or they'd just disappear or end up non-working in museums. Anyway, I got the last wristband he had for next weekend's Henham steam rally so hopefully I'll find out more about steam engines and what it takes to keep them going. It's one of the largest rallies of its kind in the country. Some great pics here from previous years. https://www.flickriver.com/groups/2372307@N23/pool/random/ Lots of old cars and other interesting things not just steam engines. I've never been before as I've been going to the same juggling convention for most of the last of the last 25 years. Not going this year so steam engines instead.
Here is another Thresher video. Mistakenly reposted Monte’s in earlier post. No one pointed this out !
Great little film. Long stem wheat but not using it for thatch, the tight compressed bales damage the straw so probably used for bedding. Nice to see the traditional thatched straw stack, ours are just covered in plastic tarps these days. A couple of fat terriers fighting over a rat made me smile. We don't burn our chaff either I think it gets fed to the cows over winter. Works well in the composting toilets we have for the summer camps as well if the sawdust runs out. Cheers for posting.

So, it's the local steam rally this weekend and I managed to get a free ticket by helping Farmer Paul with a bit of exhibition threshing. The rig... The thatching straw coming out the end in loosely packed bunches The steam engine ''Monty'' made by Marshall providing the power At the farm, we usually thresh with an old Feild Marshall like the green tractor behind the Titan. The main difference is how quiet the steam engine is compared to the old single-cylinder diesel in the Marshall.
The most ornate were the fairground engines. Others were working trucks, traction engines and steam rollers. The Foden lorries were pretty. My favourite was probably the old bus. This saw machine was from Milwaukee This old diesel beast was from 1917... ...and pulled a Howitzer
Then there were the vintage cars. This old 1931 Bentley was my favourite. Closely followed by the Lagonda. Three wheeled Morgan sports car One of only 3 surviving Austin radio cars from WWII, the only one left in RAF colours. A few old Willys Jeeps. Jeep in use by French Army until 1990. Lovely old Albion truck. Scammell tow truck
In the last image above, just to the right of the Scammell, is an old Bedford. When I was still a teenager I was helping out on a farm and they asked me to drive a similar truck down to the field for loading the fruit crates. What was weird about driving it was that the gearshift was on the rear bulkhead between the driver and passenger seats. You had to twist your arm backwards in order to change gears. Imagine driving like that in traffic?
Yes, a mate had an old bus that was like that. Very difficult to drive, no power steering and very weak brakes. Looked pretty though.
''Monty'', threshing drum and buncher off for a circuit of the show ring after finishing all the straw today. A full ring
All these damn Yankees moving to florida, voting Democrat, cant drive worth a damn. Wearing socks with sandals, putting sugar on their grits (everybody knows you put salt, butter and bacon grease on em) Breathing up all us Florida Crackers air, bitching about the smell of agricultural activities when they buy land right next to it. Welcome to Florida, enjoy your vacation, spend all your money and go home! A Yankee visits and leaves, a damn Yankee moves here to stay! This song is pretty rednecker.
Any French, Spanish or Native origin to "namaste" . ANDwould a redneck from more northern Appalachia understand "namaste" ?
The Meaning and History of 'Namaste' | Merriam-Webster https://www.merriam-webster.com › words-at-play › the-history-of-namaste Religious and secular culture come together in the increasing use of namaste (pronounced \NAH-muh-stay) in English: the term is associated with both Hinduism and yoga. The word comes from Sanskrit and literally means “bowing to you” or “I bow to you,” and is used as a greeting.
Sure. Right. Uh-huh. I'm sure your "red neck" cousins discuss the depths of the meaning at all family holidays.
