NPR provides Electoral College data that again shows why Trump’s July 3 visit here may be the only Presidential candidate visit we get this cycle. According to NPR’s analysis, our next President, Joe Biden, has 185 pretty reliable Electoral College votes, while Trump has only 125. Add the leaners, and Biden is only 32 votes away from the 270 necessary to win, while Trump is 84 votes short of victory.

 

All of them. I won't answer telephone polling truthfully lest I end up with a protest in front of my house. Anyone can use a phone book, a list of questions allegedly from some national polling company. In fact I am registered as a Democrat for the upcoming election.

 

I don't put much stock in polls, but it seems like one poll showing a different result than all the polls for the last month or two isn't indicative of a changing wind. More polling by more pollsters is necessary to establish a trend. Just like the first poll that showed Biden above Trump didn't indicate America had soured on the manchild, this poll doesn't shift things immediately either.

 

Just to be clear, I don't have a dog in this fight. I voted Republican up to and including W. Bush's first election. Since, I have voted mostly, but not exclusively Democratic. I am still a registered Republican but consider myself an independent.

I don't give a damn about Byrd or Thurmond, or any of the other racist southern politicians. They are all stains on the country and should never be mentioned except to point out how toxic their views were.

Most democrats love guns as much as Republicans. That is why no serious gun control will ever occur in this country. And, single-payer healthcare is about saving lives. Every other first world country has realized that single-payer and price controls are best for the health and economic well-being of the country's citizens.

People who fought for the continuation of slavery were immoral and stupid. They sacrificed their lives to enrich the small percentage of wealthy plantation owners who owned slaves. No rational person would admit that their pappy's pappy's pappy fought for the confederacy. It's a history of treason, racism, and defeat. To fight for the continuation of slavery is despicable and should be reviled by any rational person.

Personally, I don't care about the Rebel flag and statues of defeated confederate generals. I mean, I think they are both stupid, but they don't bother me. If southerners want to fly their defeated flag and worship the generals who lost the war, and re-enact lost battles, I don't really care. I spent time in the south (and did not enjoy it), and from what I saw southern culture consists of deep frying everything, being racist, and pretending to be Christian while adhering to none of the teachings of Jesus.

I never said nor implied any of this nonsense. There are good and bad white people and good and bad black people, and good and bad.... People who "loot, shoot, and commit acts of vandalism" should be arrested, charged, and put on trial for their crimes.

Biden's "threatening" gun owners?

Who gives a damn if I impress you? Are you someone special who I should care to "impress?" The descendants of the "party of slavery" are today's Republicans. Nixon's "Southern Strategy" that realigned the parties is a "historical fact" not open to revisionist history. I bet if, as a country, we allowed states like Alabama and Mississippi to vote on whether to re-start slavery, it would pass and it wouldn't be close.

Better outcomes. Costs less. No bankruptcies. Socialized medicine is far superior which is why it has not been stopped in any country that has instituted it. Out healthcare system is a disaster where people are gouged with costs they cannot know before they receive healthcare, tens of millions can't even get basic healthcare, and tens of thousands die because of it. In this country, a person who loses his or her job loses his or her healthcare. If we instituted universal healthcare, it would be wildly popular just as it is everywhere else (which is why the Republicans will never let it happen).

 

By definition, not voting for Trump was voting for Hillary, for which I thank you.
