We as humans tend to have very little issue with pointing out the "flaws" or "imperfections" in others but many of us don't particularly like to point out our own "issues". Well some of us anyway, some of us are our own worst critics by a long shot. So I'd like to see just how other people view themselves and are willing to share. Doesn't have to be particularly "bad" but perhaps just something about yourself that is "different" as well.

    I'll go first.

    1. I cuss way too much. I really am one of those people who uses four letter words as adjectives, nouns, verbs, and every other part of speech. In my line of work it is very normal and routine and we can (and do) literally communicate with each other by putting together entire sentences using expletives. And we all understand each other. To us it's normal, if someone's good grandparent walked into our job they would have a heart attack lol. I don't do it in public and I am actually very well spoken, or so I'm told. But when around friends or family in a more relaxed environment my speech patterns tend to go right back to the toilet.

    2. I drink too much. I am perfectly capable of drinking down a fifth of whiskey straight in one night. It's gotten to the point where I have perfected the art of not getting a hangover and/or recovering from one if I do. I am socially responsible when it comes to drinking, I rarely go to the bar anymore I mainly just sit at home. Bad things tend to happen when getting drunk in public. DUI's, fights, arguments, etc. It's much easier to get drunk at home on the couch. The worse that can happen is managing to somehow defy gravity and fall UP the stairs like I did last weekend. But either way I can rest assured knowing that whatever stupid things I manage to do while intoxicated, they are stupid in MY house so I don't have to worry.

    3. I smoke too much. Not cigarettes but those electronic vapor things. Since they don't "run out" I have a hard time putting the thing down. Even while typing this I tend to pause and pick it up for a few puffs before continuing. I pretty much have the thing in my hand all day every day. Conflicting studies are out there about the adverse effects of these things. Some say they are perfectly safe while others say they do cause issues. They just haven't been out long enough to see what issues those are. Either way I really hope that they are "safe" but I highly doubt that smoking the thing for 12 hours a day is good even if it is "safe".

    4. I'm a loner. I love solitude and being by myself. Sure I enjoy company every once and awhile but I love knowing that they can leave and go back to their house. At work I'm very social and I'm very social when I go out, but when I get home I have zero issues with being alone. When my phone rings I don't think "hey who is this?" I think "who the hell is calling me and why". If my doorbell rings I really get a bit upset "Who the hell is at my house...who the hell didn't call BEFORE showing up at my house...nobody even knows I live here who the hell is this and what do they want...". Oh, it's the UPS guy, lol. I couldn't have roommates it would drive me insane. People always ask me if they can rent out one of the bedrooms in my house. I always refuse. They always say things like "We can split the rent, it's a big house you won't even know Im there, it'll save money etc". NO. I would literally pay you NOT to live here if I had to.

I could probably make 10 pages of things that are "negative" about myself but I'll start with those for now.

    Anyone else?

I don't see any of those things as negatives. As Lincoln once said: "My experience has taught me that a man who has no vices has damned few virtues"

Sounds like you're pointing out my own flaws! That all sounds very familiar, aside from smoking.

Drinking is a major issue for me right now. I hate to say it, but I think I need to quit outright. It's not that I consume copious amounts daily, or get into fights/arguments, or drive drunk, it's that I habitually drink everyday... which definitely makes me an alcoholic. I don't want to quit, but I feel it's the right move. There isn't any moderation for me, I've tried. I've tried drinking on the weekends only, tried drinking just a couple beers per day, tried drinking only when I have zero obligations the next day, but none of that works, I always come full circle. I'm a functioning alcoholic, but I KNOW drinking keeps me from living to the fullest extent, and it's only a matter of time before there are serious health related consequences. I've quit before, several years ago. It wasn't that bad, after a couple weeks I couldn't of cared less about drinking. Things were different then though, life wasn't as stressful, and I'm sure I didn't have anywhere near the dependency.

I am a slob. I don't care how I look or how my apartment looks. I am also fairly anti-social.

I used to be the same way. Well I still sort of am, the only thing that keeps me from not drinking is when I have to work early the next day. When I take vacation time it's pretty much game over. I'll sit around with a glass in my hand all day every day when I don't work the next day. Weekends are the same way.

Here is what I do when I want to cut back. I simply don't buy as much. I'm not one of those people who stocks up on alcohol because it won't last long. I don't have stashes of alcohol around my house if I buy it then I drink it that day. If I buy 1 bottle I'll drink it all in a day, maybe 2 max. If I buy a 12 pack of beer I drink them all that night because its pointless to have less than a 6 pack at a time and I always drink more than 6 lol. (Yeah my logic is pretty bad I know).

So saying that if I don't want myself to drink all day I just simply won't buy enough alcohol to last all day. I refuse to get behind the wheel if I've had even one beer so I literally have no way of getting anymore alcohol if I run out. So I'll only grab a pint of whiskey instead of a 5th (or a liter...). That way when I finish the pint I'm just out of alcohol because I wont dare drive anywhere to get more. Now granted I absolutely HATE myself when I do that because a pint of whiskey or a 6 pack of beer is when I start feeling "good". And when I feel "good" I want to feel "better" so I keep on drinking. But I can't if I don't have anymore. So when that happens I just tend to get really ticked off and annoyed and end up just going to bed.

Maybe give that a try? It's worked well for me. You'll want to punch your own self in the face for doing that to yourself sometimes but it does work.

There's nothing worse than running out of booze and feeling unfulfilled. This sort of thing wouldn't work for me, I have an enabling designated driver.

I think the only way, is all the way for me.

My negatives are so bad that your negatives would be positives in my life!

Ok, I will be serious but the above statements I made are true, at different times in my life...

I am a 'born again' Christian, but constantly cave in to temptations, drugs drinking and others have been beaten down, but I overeat then purge, awful stuff.

I dont feel I do enough for my fellow man, I sometimes feel like I am doing the devils work, gaining 'things' and trying to save money for retirement etc, more than trying to adhere to the teachings of Jesus who said lay up our treasures in heaven. The problem is I know the real life is the one after this dream called life, still the flesh is weak eh?

I dont have problem with chasing the women in my flock, most of them are virtual anyway, lol. I have no problem with porn but I do seek power (and the admiration, but not the sexual admiration of women) which seems like a sin.

I know most of these are religious but to a christian or Buddhist or Muslim our religion is the real life ie its reality.

    ut ho

I can think on one non religious negative thing...father I have sinned. I lusted for a non Harley Davidson motorcycle. She was black, well blackish dark purple! Long and lean...a new 2015 Kawasaki supercharged...220 mph....a limited race bike for the street...

    Oh the pain~

I am a misanthrope and don't like people. The only thing people want to do is yell and scram and hurt people because people aren't like them.

I'm tired of that kind of bigotry and intolerance and want to stamp it out completely.

Wow! Except for the drinking, I could have made your post. I cuss like a sailor, vape like there's no tomorrow (after giving up a 3-pack a day cig habit, I'm not gonna worry about how much I vape), and love to be alone. Like you, social when in a work or social environment, but would rather be home with peace, quiet, and my dog.

I'm a stickler for accuracy and punctuality. I can't stand grammatical errors. I'm not talking about the occasional typo. I'm talking about people who say "I seen", "I'm loosing weight", and a host of other flashes of stupidity.

Probably my biggest fault is not having any faults; with the exception of living very near the New Madrid earthquake fault...not that's a really big fault.

    1. I drink too much when I do drink.
    2. I need to learn a little more patience. Especially with conflicting personalities.
    3. I stick to routines
    4. I do things all the way, moderation is a hell of a thing.
    5. I get drunk and horny and have sex with women I usually wouldn't. When I am sober I have little or no interest in pursuing anyone.

I do not feel. No matter how sympathetic the situation may be to others, I remain unpersuasive, and without emotional investment.

lol I'm the same way. I routinely look at the clock on a Sunday night and realize that I have literally done absolutely nothing at all over the weekend. I'll have all of these cool ideas in my head of things to do and I simply don't do them. I'm the guy who will trip over the laundry basket 50 times before finally just picking the thing up and taking it upstairs to the room.

Right now I need to go grocery shopping badly but I'm going through the freezer trying to figure out how many meals I can make out of the random crap in there so I can wait until next week to go shopping because Im too lazy to leave the house lol.
