1911 is by far the most popular metal framed pistol. My first gun was a Ruger P85 in stainless. It still shoots great.

The 1911 by far is a simple design and the easiest gun to get parts for and customize.
It has in the pre series 70, the cleanest breaking trigger.
It is my next EDC as soon as I can manage.

    How is the design simple?

Yep, twice as many parts as a Glock, many of them small and prone to breakage.

Have you ever worked on a pre series 70 ?
    Not a series 70 or a series 80
    A simple single action trigger.

I know about the series 70 triggers vs the series 80. Overall better. However, the 1911 is far from a simple design. It has way too many parts to make it so.
