    Wait... Did Trump... Have a good idea?! If Trump brings Greenland into the US I'd have to give him some legit praise. Not pushing harder to keep it after WW2 (Greenland surrendered to the US after Denmark fell) was a major mistake. I don't think we should have forced the issue but we could have sweetened the deal rather than just take no for an answer right off.

    While you're not wrong... So what. A good deal is a good deal (if this happens). There's a reason those other land buys are such great legacies. Trump is scum but if this is to be his crowning achievement I don't think anyone should actually be upset. A broken clock...

    Ya, anyone denousing this is just mad Trump came up with the idea. I hate Trump as much as anyone else (as a socialist probably more) but this is objectively a good idea. I do question the plausibility, even if Denmark was willing, it's not really up to them anymore.

    I mean they already have a domestic government thanks to Denmark giving them home rule. Give them a Rep in the House and change nothing else and you basically have PR. Buying Greenland wouldn't really change anything for the locals. Maybe we can even negotiate with the EU so that they can keep their trade and (for the Danish population already there) travel privileges.

    They will have more autonomy and economic prosperity as part of the US than they'd ever get from Europe.

    I can even see Trump setting up a trade pact between Greenlandic, Canadian, and Alaskan natives.

    Trump can build the Trump Ice Castle. We could import penguins from the Southern Hemisphere ( just never give them a compass or they may desert), we could stage the Snow Mobile Brand Prix, we can export ice cubes to Fiji and more and more....
