Prosecutors charge parents of Michigan school shooting suspect

Update on this story.... in a defense filing, they say that the mom's text on the day of the shooting "don't do it" was a "request" that her son not kill himself...

Well, I think we knew it wasn't about starting the shooting at the school, since the text was timed after the reports about the shooting had come out.

My question is very simple.... did the mother know her son was the shooter, or shooting suspect at the time of that text?

If yes, HOW did she know? I doubt that information was released to the public that soon...

If no, why would she remotely be worried he'd kill himself?

Locked from WHOM? Hidden from WHOM? Doesn't seem either was a serious effort to keep the gun from the kid...

I don't see anything in the reports of that filing that changes anything for me...

 

I thought it was time to check in on the nominees for 2021 Parents of the Year in Michigan.....

Prosecutors asked a judge to bar the parents of the accused Michigan school shooter from making romantic gestures toward each other in court, saying they're making a "mockery of the crimes they're accused of committing."

"The courtroom is not a place for blowing kisses and sending secret signals," Oakland County Chief Assistant Prosecutor David Williams said in a statement. "This is a time for families to pursue justice.”

Lawyers for the couple did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The motion says they have "indicated a willingness" to tell the Crumbleys to halt the gestures.

According to court documents filed last month, their son, Ethan Crumbley, plans to plead insanity to charges of murder and other crimes.

I added the kids insanity claim, since I didn't previously see that.. probably has a fighting chance with that one, but I wonder how that claim will be received in the case against the parents?? Your insane son was living under your roof and you buy him a gun??

 

When I was in elementary school most of my friends had .22 rimfire rifles that were stored in bedroom gun racks. I learned to shoot including gun safety at a YMCA camp. Back then no one thought about talking back to a teacher, let alone shooting some other kid. So what has changed is society, due to the impact of liberalism and the filth spewing for decades from Hollywood.

 

Wow a husband and wife have been separated from each other, mixed in with thieves and other criminals, and are being prosecuted, and in the little times they physically encounter each other make small displays of affection to each other.
Don't like it: Split the trials. Gonna try them together? Then they're going to look at each other and mouth I love you and blow kisses and **** like that.

They're not psych pros, and the gun wasn't purchased for him it was purchased for them and he was allowed to use it while supervised by his parents.

And? Have you ever been locked in a cage with felons for "a few months"? Have you ever even been put in a ****ing drunk tank fussy britches?

Additionally: I didn't make any statement as to time I'm also not rightwing or trying to spin anything. Its not odd that people locked up and facing continued imprisonment might make gestures of affection to their mate when re-encountering them. The prosecutors don't want them doing that because it shows a human side to them, and that makes it less likely a jury will convict.

Except it was the parents gun, locked away in their room, which they paid for. His present was the supervised use of the item, not the item.

I'm not sure you really understand how prosecutions and talking with your lawyer works. You're locked up. Your lawyer comes to meet with you. You're taken from the tanks, cavity searched, and brought to the meeting place. Your lawyer comes to visit you in a tiny little box with a window and a drawer to pass things like papers through. On coming back to the tanks, you have to get your butthole searched again in case your lawyer slipped you something since there are no guards allowed in the room.
At no time would you be meeting with any female prisoner. At no time would you be meeting with your co-defendant. The only person you would see would be your lawyer, and the cops putting their fingers up your *******.

You coulda fooled me, you're practically titilating yourself in public now.

How quickly we forget... Is it age? Chemical usage? Hard to say....

 

I remember the police had trouble locating them for a day or two. I'm not sure there's much evidence of a genuine attempt to "evade" law enforcement. If you suddenly became one of the most famous (and hated) people in the country you might consider staying at a friend's place for a few days too. If the cops subsequently go to your home and you're not there, does that mean you're attempting to "evade" them?

 

Sure... there's always a handy excuse or 2 nearby... that's what so great about NOT being the party of law and order anymore...

Bonus points for skipping the arraignment of your deranged teenaged son!!

Yeah, disturbing is one word for it, but I can't help but be a little bit impressed too.

I'm sitting about 15 minutes from that McDonald's right now. I can't even get my 4-year-old to pick up her toys. This guy managed to get his to follow a rather complicated set of instructions like that? I kind of want to take his parenting class, or at least subscribe to his newsletter.*

In the timeline given by the defense early on in this they knew it was the kid when they looked for the drawer they had it locked in and was missing.

 

Except the mom's text was 15 minutes before they knew the gun was missing... and it sounds like only the "dad" was the one who checked the for the gun.

I’m from utah. We have a percentage our population that are pure trouble and it’s a particular demographic. Like the same one in most inner cities. Not sure but judging by the name he is part of that demographic.

Man got angry at the fast food workers for a mistake with his order, brandished a gun and threatened them, did not follow police instructions to exit his vehicle, etc. The media is, unsurprisingly, not eager to publicize his race / mugshot, but, if you're wondering ...

Whaddya think? While I fully support the case against the Michigan parents, I'm not sure I see a criminal level of bad parenting here.. If this catches on, there might be a LOT of parents rethinking their "parenting" style...

When prosecutors asked if the teen had picked out the gun himself and given his dad money to buy the gun, he also said "yes." It is unclear where the teen got the money to buy the gun.
