It's not the action that really matters though, it's the symbolic nature as in, we can get at you..

Putin hasn't even given his existing army in Ukraine winter clothing. He'll, many don't even have sleeping bags. If he can't give such basic equipment to his existing army then you know the 1 million forced conscripts won't be getting them. No training, no equipment, this is a joke and not an army.

The Hardliner's Dilemma: The Hidden Threat to Putin's Regime

Putin is in a tight position if Russia's mobilization plan goes poorly. One might think that moderates within his administration are most likely to initiate a coup, as they would prefer to get out of the situation. That may be true, but the hardliners pose a threat for a different reason. This video explains the dilemma that the hardliners may soon find themselves in, and how the tension leads to deeper strategic problems.

We are talking about functional rifles, winter clothes and lide saving things like sleeping bags so the troops don't freeze. So minimize it all you want but it os going to be a huge problem for the orc army.

....back in the day they used to feast on boot polish sandwiches washed down with copious amounts of anti-freeze...I'm sure the old vets now being conscripted will show the younger lads how it was done... :D

For once Canada is placed in danger. If Russia launches missiles at the US and the US shoots them down, they land in Canada, right?

I just read that Putin will annex the disputed regions on friday. When that happens, it will be another step toward his promise to use nukes to defend Russian territory and the fat is in the fire.

Zaporizhzhia has more then 50% of the population in Ukrainian coubtrolled territory but the Russian propagandists are claiming 80% turn out with everyone supposedly voting for Putler's annexation. It isn't even mathematically possible for that to have occurred. Just the usual lies and shames out of Russia.

It reminds me of the rigged elections in Russia where so many ballot boxes were stuffed that 130% of the population all supposedly voted for Putin.

Of course it's farcical, but you have to remember that it's primarily aimed at a domestic audience, and they get the Kremlin's version of everything. Enough of them will buy it. Maybe.

if....Russia ever does use a wee nuke on the Ukes...then I would imagine that the Ukes'll start getting some extremely potent and longer range conventional ordnance which has so far been denied to them....

It would certainly be a watershed moment in western policy toward Russia and this conflict. I'm sure we would see even more than just better armaments supplied to Ukraine.

I think it's a very dangerous moment for the world. Putin seems to follow through on public plans. I think how the west responds to this grab will decide if nukes fly or not, I believe Russian nukes will and the response should be in kind. Tricky situation.

Putin blusters and bullies. Don't fall for his tricks. He only follows through when he calculates the risk to be low enough for himself.

Who expected him to really invade. This is what worries me, not understanding how he is looking at the situation. He won't survive a defeat so why should anybody else? I think he will do it.

I don't think he will have the power to do it. He can't act alone to launch nukes.

As for his invading, he thought it would be easy and Ukraine's government and military would collapse. From his perspective, based on the bad information he was receiving, it was not such a crazy move.

If Putin truly intended at some point to send a nuke, his entire country would revolt including 99% of his military. He would have a bullet in the head in less than an hour after making that decision and nobody would listen to him. Everyone wants to live including Russians and won't follow a maniac intent on world destruction.

Typical western response, but Russians value their lives regardless of their hatred of western influences as evident of 500k people fleeing conscription.
