I have a question for those who believe Obama was born in Kenya and therefore ineligible to be president, which, according to some older polls constitutes almost half of the Republican party, including their current front runner.

It has been argued ad naseum despite uncontrovertable evidence establishing that Obama was born in Hawaii, that he was really born in Kenya to an American mother and Kenyan father, and therefore no eligible to be president of the US.

But the second place candidate for the Republican nomination is Ted Cruz. There is no dispute that he was born in Canada to an American mother and his father at the time was a Cuban citizen.

So to the roughly half of the Republican party that believes Obama is ineligible to be president because he was supposedly born in Cuba, how can the same argument not apply to Cruz? Where are all the birthers standing up and saying Cruz is ineligible to be President. Isn't that a tad hypocritical?

Zo. Let us see. Ted Cruz's father left Cuba ... or was he sent? .... running from Castro ... or ordered by Castro?
A Cuban success story ... or a Cuban operative?

Guess it's like the famous line - you'll have to vote for it to find out what's in it ...

Gods, is Trump really just directing a reality show and somewhere a "real" Republican candidate is hidden away? One can
    only hope.

Obama should have been denied the presidency as Cruz should be.

First, Obama was born in the United States, not Cuba.

However despite your birther inaccuracies, it's a good question. If Obama were actually born in Kenya or wherever, why wouldn't he still be eligible as a "natural born citizen" if Cruz is? Cruz was born in Canada, so as far as I'm concerned, he's not eligible to be President, and I think the Cruzites ought to think of what that means if through some delegate slight of hand, he gets the nomination. The second he does, the DNC will be filing lawsuits challenging Cruz's eligibility status.

Then you're not a "birther," to whom my question was addressed.

    Typo, I meant "Kenya"

All of this fighting over where the candidates were born is (*)(*)(*)(*)ing ridiculous. They both had an American parent; they are natural born citizens of the United States and eligible for the Presidency. There's no valid legal theory that says otherwise; there is only the ridiculous and increasingly desperate attempts by each man's political enemies to find any means of disqualifying them.

    It is shameful.

No what is shameful is that you do not accept the truth Obama was born in the US so it does not matter if his Mom was an American citizen or not.

I made no statement either way of his birthplace, because I do not care. His mother's American citizenship renders it a moot point.

Obama is a natural born US citizen by virtue of being born on US soil.. Cruz is natural born because of his mother's citizenship..

Birthers are just too poorly educated to even read the damned statutes.

Lets be clear. Cruz only renounced his Canadian citizenship recently. Yes he is a natural born US citizen BUT he was also a natural born citizen of another country. That can not be denied. If he had dual citizenship with Iran would that be ok? How about Russia? I don't know if those two examples are even possible but my point is the same as you can see.

That doesn't matter.. Many kids born to US parents overseas have dual citizenship lurking there in the background in the event they choose to claim it.. Most of that expires at about age 25 if they are no longer living in country, but in some jurisdictions you have to purposely cancel it.. American kids born in KSA potentially have Saudi citizenship .. but they would also have to convert to Islam to activate it.

While technically that is true it could matter to the voters.

Even if Obama was born in Kenya along with Cruz in Canada, both had American Mothers which makes both U.S. citizens. Now some will argue that being born overseas like that does not make one a natural born citizen, but most constitutionally scholars would say yes it does. But there are those who disagree stating one must be born within the borders of the U.S.

The framers left the definition of natural born out of the Constitution, so supposedly that definition is left to congress and the laws it passes. But regardless, there will always be a question to what exactly constitutes natural born until the SCOTUS rules on the matter.

Myself, I would say both are natural born citizens and eligible. But that is just my opinion which is as good as anyone else's opinion. That is until the SCOTUS rules if they ever do.

So why were you arguing Obama was ineligible to be president then and its a non issue now?

    - - - Updated - - -

So why were you claiming before that Obama was ineligible to be president but now you've changed your mind?

That means a Chinese operative with enough money and a good enough spiel can run for president. It is a matter of loyalty.

So where are all the "birthers"?

We've only had one show up. I know they're out there because of the thousands of posts on the subject and the polls that show almost half the Republican party (including Trump) are birthers.

With the question directed to a Republican, now they're mum about it.

Perhpas it was only a big deal when it was a black Democrat at issue.

During the 2012 campaign, when Trump was making his first attempt at the White House, there was a video of him on Bill O'Reily's show and the topic of Obama's birth certificate came up. It was rather enjoyable to watch Bill O'Reily of all people telling Trump that the birther stuff was nonsense. It says something when in a conversation, Bill O'Reily is the voice of reason.
