Education is not the only key to a better future and focusing on it is a bad mistake.

Maybe not the only one, but way ahead of second place.

    https://www.deseretnews.com/article...eople-get-out-of-poverty-and-others-dont.html

While many Americans believe the poor can rise up from the bottom, statistics show the majority do not. New research by Pew's Economic Mobility Project finds 70 percent of those who are born in the bottom fifth never climb to even the middle of the economic ladder.

    ------------------------------

If someone at the bottom graduated from college, there was an 86 percent chance they would jump up at least one fifth on the income ladder. They also had a 53 percent chance of jumping up two levels to the middle fifth of income. This is almost a complete flipping of the chances people have without a college degree.

It's not because they can't, though. It's because they won't.

In the Third World, they literally can't. In the First World, it's a choice.

I think maybe a lot of people don't know what poverty really looks like.

I don't know if it's a good idea for you to come here, bragging, about being uneducated then still allowed to exercise your White Privilege in life.

For Black kids and darkskin minorities, education is the only key ---if you do not want to be an 'entertainer' which America hopes for since 1863.

Remember now, as White people, no one knows better than us; a college degree opens doors to, success, which may have nothing to do with what you studied in college. The college degrees tells investors and employers, alike, that you have mastered the discipline which it takes to see a project through.

It definitely IS racist, but they stay in the bounds of so-called political correctness. That is the difference and that is the injustice!

White privledge is bs, it is just the excuse the unsuccessful use to play the victim card.
And actually it's nit the unsuccessful, it's rich leftists playing the victim card for them to turn the world into s leftist utopia.
If white privilege is the horse droppings they teach in college then being uneducated is a virtue.

Any person in the country can enter a trade
There is a desperate need in our country fir tradesmen. Tradesmen are usually paid well for their work once they become skilled.
No one is keeping anyone else from being successful. Some people grab the opportunities given them, others do not.
Not grabbing opportunities is no ones fault but your own.
Some white people may ne born with the privilege of having had hard working parents and grand parents.

No minority today is living in a country that acts unjustly towards them. Everyone has equal opportunity. Some people grab onto it. Most do not..
Not grabbing onto opportunities is no ones fault but your own. If there is no opportunity where you live, you have to go somewhere else. Therr has never been a time with more opportunity. All employers are looking for is someone who will show up on time every day.
Life choices are the key to success not blaming other people.

That might be because you are madly in, love, with our White Privilege which we exercise for 400yrs and counting.

Oh, of course you haven't. Because both you and @yabberefugee feel that it is an invasion of civil, liberties, to hold us White people accountable for how we continue to subjugate and oppress Black citizens.

I'd even bet that within both of you members', thoughts, the FBI is a terrible org for pointing this out: https://www.pbs.org/newshour/nation/fbi-white-supremacists-in-law-enforcement

You are full of crap. Well for starters the fbi in recent history has been a horrible organization as evidenced by Peter Strozk and Lisa Page but thats another story.

The lack of success for people to move out of poverty is not an indication of racism.
I am not responsible for what happened before i was born. It's stupid and illogical to blame people for things they didn't do.
No one is being held back. It's every individual's responsibility to stand on their own and no one is preventing anyone else from doing that.

When the truth, hurts, then go heal.

If you want to deem decorated USA scholars like Doug North or Bob Jensen as, shoveling crap, wherever I reference their scholarship then hey pal you can have at it. But that won't change readers' minds about them being more credible than you and your Ad Hominem expertise.

My husband was tradesman and a hard worker. Very rarely did he miss a day of work. My sons used to watch daddy leave for work everyday and come home at night. By the time my youngest was 4 he was already contemplating what work he would do when he got older. His ambition at four was to become a poop truck driver (after watching a septic tank guy clean ours out).
What effects does not having a father, or one that works have on young blacks? Blacks need to be good role models for their children so they can break the chain of black poverty. It isn't whitey's fault, and blaming it all on whitey is getting you no where.

Sometimes common sense trumps fancy letters behind your name.

Everyone needs to be a good role model regardless of your skin pigmentation.

I think there are two things that need to be addressed.

    1. The gang culture
    2. Victimization as political power.

Gangs need to be dealt with harshly and we need to stop glorifying them in our culture.
People need to be show a reason for hope instead of a reason to blame others.

    I agree.

But we do live within a White, racist-controlled society.

Therefore exactly because of skin pigmentation, not everyone is allowed the chance, to be a good role model in America. That is where the problem starts.

If we don't fix that, first, then HOPELESSNESS will continue to stymie Black America. Yes and that means more disregard for neighbor's lives and assets via gang culture and Indy-criminals' survival mode.

White America created this nightmare, so only we should be expected to fix it.
