Saw the below commentary today and wondered how people feel about this? Have we become so political that we can no longer shop or eat without knowing if the business is red or blue? Just the idea of floating this commentary adds to the divisiveness of the nation! If this is an example of our IQ, of our position in society, then understandably we are doomed to some dark days ahead...

    Comments??

Too true. You definitely shouldn't base your purchases on economic considerations. You should definitely base them on arbitrary political one's.

So you are saying we should boycott all these companies because they are keeping the two party scam and the plutocracy from which it dwells alive?

You said "one of my ilk". That would imply I am part of that group. So either retract your statement or provide evidence to support it.

Why would any corporation donate to the economically challenged Democrat's?

Wow, you couldn't be more wrong. "One of your ilk", meaning one of a like mindset.
Like I said, it's called reading comprehension.
    ilk
    ilk/
    noun
a type of people or things similar to those already referred to.

Ok, so you admit that you don't know what ilk means.
Label yourself what ever you want, but you come off as a leftist statist authoritarian.
But, what ever floats your boat.

More than anything, this explodes the "GOP is the party of big business and the rich, Democrats are the party of the people and middle class" myth. Businesses know full well whether they do better under high redistribution, high taxes and high regulatory burden than under limited redistribution, reasonable taxes and reasonable redistribution. (Bill Gates can only buy one set of tickets, albums, Swiffers, sports jerseys, beers, redistributed wealth buys thousands and millions).

OTOH, many businesses donate based on the political sway of the owner regardless of pragmatic advantage. I absolutely would and do make purchasing decisions based on what party gets more donations. You are effectively donating when you buy, so why wouldn't you weigh alternatives?

Also keep in mind that business donates to politicians it wants to -buy- or control regardless of party. When more GOP in office, more GOP donations, when more Demos, more Demo donations. The only cure is to reduce government, its size, scope and power.

Quite a few consumers will embrace or boycott those businesses.

Obamacare is primarily a democrat program so Republicans should never sign up for Obamacare...

Today's government has on average $500 billion deficits and the CBO forecasts $1 trillion deficits by 2025 or just nine years from now. In order to reduce government, we would need to eliminate $500 billion to $1 trillion in deficit spending then continue reducing beyond that...this will be impossible!

If it's true that we have one finite pot of money in the US, then as we give more and more of that money to the government we have less for the private sector and consumers. Americans and corporations have no problem donating $1 billion to political campaigns or keeping all the casinos filled or buying hundreds of million$ in lottery tickets every week.

People who will make purchasing decisions based on what they believe the politics might be of any given company are themselves a problem and detriment to society. All this does is create more division of the nation, more bias! Think about it...
