I don't give a (*)(*)(*)(*) what's on the video. When you find me something that is actually credible and not some bull(*)(*)(*)(*) YouTube video THEN I will take time out of my life to research it. I am not about to waste 30 minutes of my life listening to some loser Brit talk about how evil the American empire is.

    I highly respect Major Generals.

In the Army, MG Frank Mildren commanded the division I was in. I worked for a Captain.

But your lack of respect for General Tommy Franks puzzles me a lot. If you did as you say, that is little different than what General Franks did.

Why do you need to play games with fonts and get all upset?

I wonder if you will tell us your name and your commands?

I never take advantage of a person's name.

General Mildren always was much more informed than was the Captain I worked with or for, but we got orders from him often. I was in a HQ/HQ unit in Germany, but back in 62-64.

General DePuy was in the unit I was in. He had just got promoted to BG and went to the states for training.

My unit in other words was very respected. General DePuy left a bold mark.

What General Franks did in both war areas was remarkable. I know that not all Generals saw him as I see him. I spent time studying not just him, but other commanders to make my mind up.

Why not tone it down and see what else happens? We are not in the army today. I expect you get a handsome retirement per month.

Ask any Iraqi today and I'll bet the answer you get is a resounding 'Yes! We didn't think so when he was in power, but we definitely do now - just take a look around you?' (sound of an explosion - your interviewee says to you) 'That sound came from the direction of a local food market, which at this time of the day is full of people; that kind of thing didn't happen under Saddam!' I trust my point is clear, Robert??

I live in California. When, let's say to give you an example, a fire of very large size hits the Los Angeles Area. I can almost count on it that a dear nice very old lady, not far from Miami, will call me to ask me if I have problems with the smoke. I patiently remind her that to drive to Los Angeles takes a decent 6 hours. She then sighs and says, at least you are safe. Those looking over the map of Iraq have some fanciful idea one hears those explosions all over Iraq. If a bad accident happens 10 miles from your home, do you hear them crashing?

Saddam buried thousands upon thousands in unmarked graves. The locals knew the locations provided they survived. They do need to stop the bombing. We bailed out. I suspect they think that sure stunk the place out.

Sorry it has taken so long to get back to you on DU - The time I can spend here on the PF is very constrained

And you read & ingest a few Propaganda Turds plopped out of the DOD and 'you think that makes you informed' :roflol:
BTW - It must be the height of Willful Ignorance to suppose Facts just stop being Facts simply because they are
........................................................................................................................... conveyed through a visual media

So Re DU - Pleased to Inform !
As you display a certain Ignorance as to the nature of Depleted Uranium and how and why it becomes such
............................................................a gross Crime of horrible effect to throw it around in the environment

DU ammo carries no explosive ordinance - It does not need any. When it is fired it Pyrotizes & then Aerosols

When DU burns, It burns very very, HOT ! - & given its density & velocity it will pass through armor plate like
a knife through butter. - Now when it burns it changes form and becomes a radioactive insoluble ceramic dust
The problem being is that this ceramic dust is NANO sized - usually less than a micron - That Dust aerosols
and because of its ultra tiny size, it can pollute the environment for miles around. It is this dust that is dangerous
    ...................................................................................................................................

Admittedly, Depleted Uranium has approximately 70 percent of the radioactivity of Natural occurring Uranium -
and DU emits Alpha Radiation which would under normal circumstances be blocked and kept out of the body
by the skin, but in its NANO dust form it can actually fall into you.
The circumstances involved with a Pyrotized, Aerosol of Ceramic Alpha emitting Dust is anything but Normal !

When this Ceramic Radioactive Dust becomes lodged in a specific location within the body it
begins to emit Alpha Radiation 24/7

Depleted Uranium – Far Worse Than 9/11
Depleted Uranium Dust - Public Health Disaster For The People Of Iraq and Afghanistan

    http://www.globalresearch.ca/depleted-uranium-far-worse-than-9-11/2374

    From the Article

"When a DU round or bomb strikes a hard target, most of its kinetic energy is converted to heat ”
sufficient heat to ignite the DU. From 40% to 70% of the DU is converted to extremely fine dust particles
of ceramic uranium oxide (primarily dioxide, though other formulations also occur). Over 60% of these
particles are smaller than 5 microns in diameter, about the same size as the cigarette ash particles in
    cigarette smoke and therefore respirable"

    &

"Particles smaller than 10 microns can access the innermost recesses of lung tissue where they become
permanently lodged. Furthermore, if the substance is relatively insoluble, such as the ceramic DU-oxide
dust produced from burning DU, it will remain in place for decades, dissolving very slowly into the
bloodstream and lymphatic fluids through the course of time. Studies have identified DU in the urine of
Gulf War veterans nine years after that conflict, testifying to the permanence of ceramic DU-oxide in the
lungs. Thus the effects are far different from natural uranium dust, whose coarse particles are almost
entirely excreted by the body within 24 hours"

    &

"Studies have shown that inhaled nano-particles are far more toxic than micro-sized particles of
the same basic chemical composition. British toxicopathologist Vyvyan Howard has reported
that the increased toxicity of the nano-particle is due to its size."

    &

"For example, when mice were exposed to virus-size particles of Teflon (0.13 microns) in a
University of Rochester study, there were no ill effects. But when mice were exposed to nano-
particles of Teflon for 15 minutes, nearly all the mice died within 4 hours."

    &

“Exposure pathways for depleted uranium can be through the skin, by inhalation, and
ingestion,” writes Lauren Moret, another DU researcher. “Nano-particles have high mobility and
can easily enter the body. Inhalation of nano-particles of depleted uranium is the most hazardous
exposure, because the particles pass through the lung-blood barrier directly into the blood."

    &

“When inhaled through the nose, nano-particles can cross the olfactory bulb directly into the
brain through the blood brain barrier, where they migrate all through the brain,” she wrote.
“Many Gulf era soldiers exposed to depleted uranium have been diagnosed with brain tumors,
brain damage and impaired thought processes. Uranium can interfere with the mitochondria,
which provide energy for the nerve processes, and transmittal of the nerve signal across synapses
    in the brain."

    &

"Based on dissolution and excretion rate data, it is possible to approximate the amount of DU
initially inhaled by these veterans. For the handful of veterans studied, this amount averaged
0.34 milligrams. Knowing the specific activity (radiation rate) for DU allows one to determine
that the total radiation (alpha, beta and gamma) occurring from DU and its radioactive decay
products within their bodies comes to about 26 radiation events every second, or 800 million
events each year. At .34 milligrams per dose, there are over 10 trillion doses floating around
    Iraq and Afghanistan."

    Depleted Uranium EXPOSED
    http://www.veteranstoday.com/2009/09/30/depleted-uranium-exposed/

"A sophisticated web of deceit hinders humanity from understanding how the debris of depleted \uranium weapons
produces sickness in exposed populations. As citizens of the twenty-first century, \we put our faith in science to
unambiguously distinguish truth from falsehood. We trust that what \appears in the professional journals and the
university textbooks is an accurate depiction of nature."

    &

"Such naiveté blinds us from recognizing when fraudulent science is fabricated as an instrument of political propaganda.
In the case of the toxicology of battlefield uranium, the subject is rife with misinformation, purposely planted in the minds
of men and women to prevent liability from ever being assigned to those who field modern chemical/radiological weapons"

This charade persists because an artful propaganda matrix has infiltrated and corrupted certain aspects of the radiation
and biological sciences. The facts which follow will introduce how our debilitated veterans are being misinformed of the
possible role played by uranium in their illnesses."

The idiotic fonts you use demonstrate your ignorance.

I never said it was explosive I simply stated facts.

I also acknowledged that there are concerns over DU particles in environments where such ordnance is used but there is no link between use of DU and any bad health problems.

Sorry little guy but that is the fact,

    You presented no facts.

    I did.

What you did was repeat a great deal of propaganda which is false and long since debunked.

Your sources are nothing but opinion which repeat the same propaganda without facts and evidence.

The medical and scientific facts prove you wrong.

One more time for the slow there is no empirical data or scientific evidence linking DU to serious health problems in Iraq or anywhere else and that is fact.

Even the World health Organization came to the same conclusion after exhaustive study.

All you did was repeat what I told you in the first place. Yes particles can get in the air after DU ordnance is used but they settle to the ground very quickly due to their density they do not blow around in the wind.

Concerns exist and precautions were taken but in the end exhaust fumes from diesel engines probably cause more harm.

The people of Iraq still large exist in third world conditions and the neglect and poor infrastructure is far more likely to be the cause of the health problems among the population at large than any lingering after effects of the war.

Sorry but those are the facts and your brainwashed jingoism cannot change that.

The only true believer here is you clinging to faith in your propaganda in the face o any fact

A DU Resource, for those not suffering from 'Willful Ignorance' & who are not afraid of being informed

    Depleted Uranium in Afghanistan
    http://www.google.com/search?q=Depleted+Uranium+in+Afghanistan&hl=fr&btnG=Recherche+Google&lr=

    Depleted Uranium or Depleted Conscience?
    http://www.swans.com/library/art7/jlind004.html
(...) Pentagon officials finally admitted, that "depleted uranium intended for armour-piercing
weapons had been contaminated by small amounts of plutonium" and other highly toxic nuclear
by-products as a result of the plant recycling nuclear waste into the depleted uranium sometime
in the 1980s. What is even more troubling is that the Pentagon has known since at least 1995 that
the DU had been contaminated and continued to use the material anyway. (...) According to
several Pakistani newspapers, these suspicions are, in fact, a reality. "A leading military expert
told Dawn that since October 7 the United States Air Force has been raining down depleted
uranium shells at targets inside Afghanistan, especially against the Taliban front lines in the
north." (22) The Weekly Independent similarly states, "Hard target weapons loaded with
reprocessed nuclear waste have been used as secret weapons in the US-led air strikes against the
Taliban, exposing human lives in Afghanistan and the adjoining border areas of Pakistan to a
serious risk of radiation poisoning." (23) It then cites evidence of Taliban troops and Afghan
civilians alike being exposed to the depleted uranium and quotes Defense Department
spokesperson Kenneth Bacon indirectly confirming the use of DU in the area. "Reports
emanating from Afghanistan," the newspaper goes on to state, "reveal that after the fall of the
Taliban and the landing of allied forces there, the troops and aid agencies have been told to
proceed with caution," steering clear of any and all of the locations bombed by allied forces. (...)

Adverse health effects due to depleted uranium (and its many other contaminants) have been
seen throughout the world. The 944,000 rounds fired in Iraq, the 31,000 rounds fired in Serbia,
and the 10,000 rounds fired in Bosnia can testify to that. Despite well-documented knowledge of
the health and environmental consequences that ensue, the Pentagon has not eliminated depleted
uranium from its arsenal, but has instead continued its use. Most likely, Afghanistan is now the
next in a growing list of those whose fate will forever be intertwined with depleted uranium. This
issue must be pushed to the forefront because the people of Afghanistan cannot afford any
    further tragedy. CLIP

The possibility of radioactive dust storms sweeping across Afghanistan and polluting rivers has
sparked fears in Pakistan. The radioactive dust released by the impact of these weapons can
easily get into the food chain and the water supply through the Kabul River in Afghanistan and
thus into Pakistan's Indus River. There are simply no contingency measures to brace people
against such a disastrous humanitarian fallout.

THE INVISIBLE WAR: DEPLETED URANIUM AND THE POLITICS OF RADIATION
    http://webhome.primus.ca/gwishart/invisible.htm

This document looks at the debate over DU weapons. Depleted uranium is one of the heaviest
metals on earth and easy to mould into shells which are dense enough to penetrate heavy armour.
It does not exist in nature but is a byproduct of atomic power generation and is radioactive, with
a half-life of **4.5 billion years.** According to the Pentagon, 940 000 shells with more than
300 tonnes of depleted uranium were discharged during the Gulf War. (...) Before the Gulf War,
US military analysts had repeatedly expressed the gravest reservations about its deployment,
citing health risks to both military and civilian populations. With a radioactive half-life of four
and a half billion years, the stakes involved in the proliferation of this new weapon are
enormous, for the public, and for the earth itself. (...) In 1991, the UK Atomic Energy Authority
warned that, if particles from merely 8 per cent of the DU used in the Gulf were inhaled, there
could be "300,000 potential deaths". (...) In Basra's hospitals, the cancer wards are overflowing.
Before the Gulf war, they did not exist. "The dust carries death," Dr Jawad Al-Ali, a cancer
specialist and member of Britain's Royal College of Physicians, told me. "Our own studies
indicate that more than 40 per cent of the population in this area will get cancer in five years'
time to begin with, then long afterwards.

Your first sentence is a lie you did not present links dealing in verifiable facts you presented links dealing with opinion and nothing more.

I read your links and they repeated the same talking points with no scientific evidence of empirical data.

That is fact sorry but it does not matter how many obscure websites have people agreeing with you that does not make it a fact.

Several of your links do not even work.

Sorry but once again your faith in how eviiil the us is has no evidence in this case.

    For you Information
DU dust because of its Ultra Small Nano Size, it is able to migrate in the environment for miles

A Review of this article might be appropriate
    http://www.globalresearch.ca/depleted-uranium-far-worse-than-9-11/2374
"In 1979, depleted uranium (DU) particles escaped from the National Lead Industries factory near
Albany, N.Y.,which was manufacturing DU weapons for the U.S military. The particles traveled
26 miles and were discovered in a laboratory filter by Dr. Leonard Dietz, a nuclear physicist.
This discovery led to a shut down of the factory in 1980, for releasing more than 0.85 pounds of
DU dust into the atmosphere every month, and involved a cleanup of contaminated properties
    costing over 100 million dollars.

    You're wrong.
    http://military.wikia.com/wiki/Depleted_uranium

There are hundreds of articles that explain the detrimental, and even deadly effects of DU on humans. I didn't find a single article saying that DU weapons were safe and benevolent.

    I am quite correct.

Before trying to address the post from another person you need to read more carefully.

I never said anything remotely close to safe and benevolent.

I clearly stated what you are merely repeating which is that there has always been concerns about the effects of Du munitions. This has led to precautions which were observed and followed.

However there is no empirical data or scientific evidence that DU munitions have caused the long term health effects which others are claiming makes their use criminal.

That is fact you have failed to refute.

You are merely repeating what has been known all along and which I stated several posts ago that yes SOME potential for long term health problems exist but the risk is minor.

    Nuclear Waste As A Weapon
    http://www.dmzhawaii.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/depleted-uranium-fact-sheet.pdf

    From the Article
    Human Health Hazards

Both military personnel and civilians may be exposed to DU throughout its life cycle. Most public attention to
"depleted" uranium has focused on its radioactivity. However, DU poses health hazards to people both as a
radioactive substance and as a toxic heavy metal
. DU emits alpha, beta, and gamma radiation, which can
damage many parts of the body and cause cancer and genetic mutations. Tiny dust-like DU particles –
formed when shells impact and burn – can be inhaled and lodge in the lungs, bones, and kidneys, where they
damage cells and organs through radiation or toxic effects. Human and animal studies have linked DU
exposure and damage to the kidneys, immune, nervous, respiratory, and reproductive systems, and to cancer
    and genetic mutation.

Regulation of "depleted" uranium in the United States is not structured to protect human health and the
environment. DU is regulated as a radioactive substance by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, which is
widely known to cater to the interests of nuclear power companies and the military. To date, DU has not been
regulated as a toxic heavy metal by the Environmental Protection Agency. The U.S. Department of Defense
(DoD) has consistently denigrated public concern about the health and environmental consequences of
    "depleted" uranium
throughout its life cycle. U.S. Gulf War veterans have been denied health care and
disability benefits because of the Pentagon’s denial of any possible link between DU exposure and health
problems. Despite the fact that tens of thousands of U.S. personnel were exposed to DU during the first Gulf
War, the Department of Defense (DoD) DU program has only examined sixty veterans since that conflict.
There is widespread agreement that more research is needed into the health hazards posed by DU. For many
years, a near-complete lack of appropriate data and studies allowed the Pentagon, NATO, the British
government, and others to claim that there was no evidence that "depleted" uranium is dangerous to
humans. More recently, as veterans, community organizations, scientists, and elected officials have demanded
research or conducted it themselves, alarming evidence has emerged to corroborate the experiences of Gulf
War veterans and others exposed to DU.
Additional research – especially rapid independent health screening
of military personnel exposed to DU in the second Gulf War – is still needed, along with treatment and
    compensation for those affected.

Exposure to "depleted" uranium can occur by inhalation of DU dust; ingestion of DU directly or in
contaminated food, soil, and water; embedding of DU fragments in the body; contamination of open wounds
with DU dust; and absorption through contact with the skin. Injection of fragments and inhalation of DU dust
are considered to be the routes of exposure most likely to cause health effects. However, there is a lack of
data on DU exposure during and after conflict, and post-conflict civilian ingestion of DU is also considered a
significant risk. External exposure to DU is not considered a significant health hazard unless a DU shell or
fragment is kept next to the skin for many days.

When a "depleted" uranium shell hits a hard target – such as a tank or building – the DU burns and about
20% vaporizes into a fine dust that can be inhaled by those in the immediate vicinity (up to 400 meters) or
by personnel who work in, on, or around the impact site at a later date. DU particles can travel at least
twenty-five miles on air currents, and can re-suspend into the air years later when disturbed by wind, people,
    or machinery.

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission believes that a breathed intake of .01 grams of DU can cause health
problems and requires automatic testing. The U.K. says .008 grams of DU is hazardous for workers, and more
than .002 grams are unacceptable for the general public. The World Health Organization (WHO) has set a
Tolerable Daily Intake Level for ingested uranium of 0.6 micrograms per kilogram of body weight (a 150
pound adult would therefore have a daily intake limit of .00004 grams). By comparison, one 120mm DU tank
round impacting against a hard target will create about 950 grams of DU dust, and one burst of 30mm shells
fired by an A-10 aircraft might create 960 grams. In some cases, the amount of dust created may be much
    higher.

It is "uranium depleted" weaponry. Of course it is toxic, and of course it has an extremely long half-life which means it's toxic and deadly for a long, long time.

We will have to agree to disagree; but I think I have logic and science on my side.

Here we go. The irrelevant "Well way back in the day, Christians...Blah blah blah". It's 2016. Christians are not the problem anymore. Get over it. Your "argument" is 100% pointless and has nothing to do with muslims blowing themselves up to kill muslims and especially, non muslims. Your perspective is completely pointless but I thank you for trying.

Science opposes you since the issue is not about what it is but about what damage it has done and the empirical / scientific evidence shows nothing to support your claims.

Half life refers to how long a radioactive elements takes to decay which has nothing to do with general toxicity.

It is not uranium depleted weaponry it is depleted uranium ordnance or projectiles.

Grammar is not on your side either

All been said before by me.

yes there are some POTENTIAL health hazards which have never been denied and precautions have long since been taken.

What you keep ignoring once again is that everything has some potential risk and no empirical or scientific data supports your claim that DU caused long term damage.

Standard out of the box SJW response which is empty of logic or intelligent thinking.

Fools often use such responses thinking it means something when it is not even an argument.

I would love to see one be tried in court for any crime and say " but someone else did the same thing last week "

I know what "half-life" is. I took inorganic chemistry and got an A in it.
There is nothing wrong with my grammar.
Your ad hominem attacks don't make you right and me wrong; but it does say a lot about your character.

"Yes there are POTENTIAL health hazards"
And what precautions do you deem appropriate when you are blowing TONS of this NANO sized
Radioactive Ceramic Dust into the air, where it has been found to migrate miles from where it is used.
What in the Hell kind of Precautions are going to mitigate that ? Don't be so up front STUPID ! -

"Precautions have long since been taken ! " - :steamed:

Explaining How Depleted Uranium Is Killing Civilians, and Soldiers,

    http://www.globalresearch.ca/explaining-how-depleted-uranium-is-killing-civilians-soldiers-land/6009

In August 2004 American Free Press published a ground-breaking four-part series on DU
weapons and the long-term health risks they pose to soldiers and civilians alike. Information
provided to AFP by experts and scientists, some of it published for the first time in this
paper, has increased public awareness of how exposure to small particles of DU can
    severely affect human health.

    &

Leuren Moret, a Berkeley-based geo-scientist with expertise in atmospheric dust,
corresponds with AFP on DU issues. Recently Moret provided a copy of her letters to a
British radiation biologist, Dr. Chris Busby, about how nanometer size particles—less than
one-tenth of a micron and smaller—of DU once inhaled or absorbed into the body, can
cause long-term damage to one’s health.

Moret’s letters on the particle effect of DU is based on research done by Marion Fulk, a
nuclear physical chemist and former scientist with the Manhattan Project
    and the National
Laboratory at Livermore, Calif. Fulk, who has developed a “particle theory” about how DU
nano-particles affect human DNA, donates his time and expertise to help bring information
    about DU to the public.

    &

    U.S. GOVERNMENT KNOWS

The U.S. government has known for at least 20 years that DU weapons produce clouds of
poison gas on impact. These clouds of aerosolized DU are laden with billions of toxic sub-
micron sized particles. A 1984 Department of Energy conference on nuclear airborne waste
reported that tests of DU anti-tank missiles showed that at least 31 percent of the mass of a
DU penetrator is converted to nano-particles on impact. In larger bombs the percentage of
aerosolized DU increases to nearly 100 percent, Fulk told AFP
    .

DU is harmful in three ways, according to Fulk: “Chemical toxicity, radiological toxicity and
    particle toxicity.”

Particles in the nano-meter (one billionth of a meter) range are a “new breed of cat,” Moret
wrote. Because the size of the nano-particles allows them to pass freely throughout the
organism and into the nucleus of its cells, exposure to nano-particles causes different
symptoms than exposure to larger particles of the same substance.

Internalized DU particles, Fulk said, act as “a non-specific catalyst” in both “nuclear and
non-nuclear” ways. This means that the uranium particle can affect human DNA and RNA
because of both its chemical and radiological properties. This is why internalized DU
particles cause “many, many diseases,” Fulk said.

Asked if this is how DU causes severe birth defects, Fulk said, “Yes.”

    MILITARY AWARE

The military is aware of DU’s harmful effects on the human genetic code. A 2001 study of
DU’s effect on DNA done by Dr. Alexandra C. Miller for the Armed Forces Radiobiology
    Research Institute in Bethesda, Md.
, indicates that DU’s chemical instability causes 1
million times more genetic damage than would be expected from its radiation effect alone,

    Moret wrote.

Dr. Miller requested that questions be sent in writing and copied to a military spokesman.
She did tell AFP that it should be noted that her studies showing that DU is “neoplastically
transforming and genotoxic” are based on in vitro cellular research.

Studies have shown that inhaled nano-particles are far more toxic than micro-sized particles
of the same basic chemical composition. British toxicopathologist Vyvyan Howard has
reported that the increased toxicity of the nano-particle is due to its size.

For example, when mice were exposed to virus-size particles of Teflon (0.13 microns) in a
University of Rochester study, there were no ill effects. But when mice were exposed to
nano-particles of Teflon for 15 minutes, nearly all the mice died within 4 hours.

“Exposure pathways for depleted uranium can be through the skin, by inhalation, and
ingestion,” Moret wrote. “Nano-particles have high mobility and can easily enter the body.
Inhalation of nano-particles of depleted uranium is the most hazardous exposure, because
the particles pass through the lung-blood barrier directly into the blood.

“When inhaled through the nose, nano-particles can cross the olfactory bulb directly into the
brain through the blood brain barrier, where they migrate all through the brain,” she wrote.
“Many Gulf era soldiers exposed to depleted uranium have been diagnosed with brain
tumors, brain damage and impaired thought processes. Uranium can interfere with the
mitochondria, which provide energy for the nerve processes, and transmittal of the nerve
signal across synapses in the brain.

“Damage to the mitochondria, which provide all energy to the cells and nerves, can cause
chronic fatigue syndrome, Lou Gehrig’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and Hodgkin’s
    disease.”
