This supposed planet has long been prophesized by religion and now science says it's real.

"Christians claim that the arrival of the planet will mark the apocalypse and could herald Jesus’ return, while other conspiracy theorists believe that it is a rogue planet which has yet to be detected by space officials – or has but they are covering it up to prevent widespread panic.

The mysterious object, otherwise known as Planet X, is allegedly due to enter the solar system in September 23 and will wreak havoc on our galactic neighbourhood."
Paranormal researchers believe Planet X is so large it would be able to counter the sun’s gravitational pull.

It is believed that it is difficult to spot due to the angle in which the huge mass is approaching Earth – towards the South Pole.

"Caltech researchers have found evidence suggesting there may be a "Planet X" deep in the solar system. This hypothetical Neptune-sized planet orbits our sun in a highly elongated orbit far beyond Pluto. The object, which the researchers have nicknamed "Planet Nine," could have a mass about 10 times that of Earth and orbit about 20 times farther from the sun on average than Neptune. It may take between 10,000 and 20,000 Earth years to make one full orbit around the sun."

Too small and too far away to do any damage. It certainly won't herald doomsday. Just a blip on the radar. A far away point that won't get much closer.

Where does it say in the Bible that Planet x will signify the end of the world?

    <insert Ben Stein-like monotone voice here>

Oh no. It's another doomsday prediction. Everyone run for your lives.

<we now return you to your normal tonality>

Seriously. We've had so many doomsday predictions that it's almost a drinking game.

"Ok, if some religious dude announces it, everyone take a drink. If it's based of something remotely scientific, everyone take a drink. If Neil Degrasse Tyson says something debunking the end of the world, finish your drinks."

There IS indication from Kupier belt objects and Plutos orbit that there actually is something very massive about 90 billion miles away from the sun which we cannot see because of the lack of reflected light and the vastness of possible locations. This proposed object cannot however influence our planet directly and impact from other objects carries a far greater risk, even though that is extremely small.
As usual this falls to religious nuts and conspiracy theorists to make something scary, those who actually know the details (limited though they are) simply find it to be an interesting subject of study.

Surely the more exciting issue related to planets today is Saturn.

It's largest moon is earth sized and has a nitrogen atmosphere, as does earth.

And, the moon Enceladus has a huge saltwater sea under its thin ice covering - much as earth a long time ago. Plus, when Cassini flew through a saltwater geyser from that moon Cassini was able to detect some interesting molecules. But, that satellite wasn't designed to search for life, so ...

How would theists react to finding early life somewhere other than Earth?

Given that there are 10 trillion galaxies and that our galaxy has 100 billion stars, and now that we find multiple possible places for life in our own solar system, claiming we're the only place with life seems a little brave.

Wonder what religion planet x originates from? This isn't from that dude Stitchens who read into sumerian texts things the scholars cannot find is it? LOL

Looks like you tube is filled with this rubbish, but I didn't view any. I am too old to waste my limited time.

The Ancient Egyptians have a rather interesting origin story that starts with a sky of fire and we are probably species with amnesia anyway.
I might be watching too much History Channel.

I think you among others are missing the point here. Point is a planet that religious "nuts" were claiming existed has now been all but confirmed by science.

The idea that a planet-sized object (Planet X) will collide with or closely pass by Earth is not supported by any scientific evidence and has been rejected by astronomers and planetary scientists as pseudoscience and an Internet hoax.

Big deal. Science has been seeing a disturbance in Oort Cloud and Kyper belt objects and hypothized the existence of another planet or planetoid for decades.

People called the scientists nuts for believing in Planet X too.

No, religion doesn't predict anything about it.

No, they don't. Perhaps some crackpot cult makes such claims but there is nothing about it in the bible.

It seems the planet x prophecy fits with the stories in the Bible though if you interpret them in just the right way as many are doing. I just find it interesting that these religious types now have their long accepted (by them) existence of another planet verified by science. To me it's worth noting but to most if not all in here it's worth nothing at all or then again are they just made slightly nervous by this?

Your Bible(s) can be interpreted to say anything anyone wants it to, and has been for many centuries by many people. The planet in question is far from confirmed and is merely speculated by science because of interesting orbital dynamics and calculations in computer modelling showing is as a possible explanation for variant asteroids in the Kupier belt. Attempting to tie Biblical to scientific is a time tested failure by the religious as every time the natural explanation defeats the magical one.

Can you at least admit that the existence of a planet long accepted by these religious zealots is now accepted and all but proven by science? I find the convergence here interesting.

After growing up listening to end of time preachers, thanks to my mother, there was never any mention of this planet, and so I must conclude these preachers saw nothing of it in the bible they studied so intensely. So, it appears this is really recent and wreaks of a cult, who read into the bible what is not there. Would not be the first time this has happened.

Long accepted? It appears to be a new development. Care to give us the scripture used to support planet x? And how have the end times preachers going back a hundred years or more missed it? I don't recall ever reading a thing about it when I read the complete bible twice in my youth.

No I cannot as that is not how science works. Speculation or "hypothesis" is far from "all but proven" and you have yet to show us any data indicating your zealots ever existed.

Excellent, now apply that mindset to AGW. There's more evidence for planet 9 than for AGW.

As I said the proponents of planet x interpret the Bible in a way that fits their belief as all Bible believers do. Following is interesting reading on their hypothesis.

"The New Age interpretation of the alleged Mayan prophecy of 2012 is often called the “Planet X Hypothesis,” which is believed to be the name of an undiscovered planet that is spiraling toward Earth. Some in the New Age community believe this plant will hit Earth on December 21, 2012 resulting in chaos and death; others believe it will merely pass by Earth on that date, the consequence of which will cause humanity to go through favorable physical and spiritual transformations.

    Ancient Roots
Adherents to this theory trace its origins to ancient Sumeria, a city-state in ancient Mesopotamia, which is the land between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers in present-day Iraq. Sumeria was the birthplace of many keystones to civilization such as the wheel, writing, and irrigation. Sumerians were also interested in astronomy."

This Meade guy goes into chapter and verse in detail if you care to read about it.

"Meade, a proven conspiracy theorist, has underlined warnings present in the Old Testament. The writings are present in Isaiah chapter 13 verses 9-10, “See, the day of the Lord is coming – a cruel day, with wrath and fierce anger – to make the land desolate and destroy the sinners within it. The stars of heaven and their constellations will not show their light. The rising sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light.” The conspiracy theorist states this particular passage is connected to the phenomena he termed “33 Convergence.” This is a list of coincidences which all include the number 33. Meade elaborated by saying, "When the eclipse begins on August 21, the sunrise will be dark, just as Isaiah predicts. The Moon involved is called a black moon. These occur about every 33 months. In the Bible, the divine name of Elohim appears 33 times in Genesis.”

So after the discovery of a distant planet that will have no effect on planet earth, and if you interpret the bible with this knowledge and interpret it "the right way", and then add tales of death and destruction that science says nothing about, the bible magically predicts the existence of this planet.

That is exactly how fake horoscopes work. We tend to pick out what fits and ignore that which doesn't. You can make anything fit anything you want this way. You can create your own imaginary world that is in fact a total fantasy. And this is why we have so many religions. Everybody sees what they want to see.

They made this up after the planet was discovered. They didn't predict anything. Your claims are 100% false. You can't produce one bit of evidence to support them.
