I don't know if it is a perversion who appears because of the vow of celibacy, if paedophile are more attracted to priesthood, either hoping first to redeem before cracking down, or willing from the beginning.

I don't go a lot in church, It's either to visit, or to go to funerals. None of my friends or my family got married. So the only moment I go to the church is for funerals, and three times, the priest were from africa. That's quite funny to see in deep Normandy, where there is few colored people, a priest with a heavy african accent, people still love their priest. Ironic, we send a lot of priest to evangelize Africa and now Africa have to send us priests to evangelize us.

It makes sense. I'm an atheist but I'm not closed off to the idea of there being some kind of higher power, I just haven't seen any evidence for it. But I'm 100% certain that if one does exist, it's got absolutely nothing to do with all the religions human beings have made up across the millennia.

Or, 10 percent don't. One in 10 people do not believe in a higher power, and claim such a power does not exist, and yet they simply cannot and do not know. I am not so sure we should applaud these people. But we could if they were agnostic, which would make them intellectually honest people. But saying you know something which is unknowable is not different from those those believe in a higher power, but do not know for sure either.

No it doesn't you forget the alternatives the most fundamentalists will just withdraw from the worldly home school their children, keep their children from the problematic issues until they are good and right in their faith and only then let them see the world this means even more investing on ingraining the faith into their children more than they are doing now. At some point they will force the government to react to this and then they will be persecuted in their perspective and you will force them more into the shell. Religion isn't just a matter of belief its family and community and the same way of thinking in general and that is very appealing.

Sure hope these fools, er, I mean believers are making the most of their (likely one and only) lives on this planet.

Still not even a speck of credible or compelling evidence to suggest that their alleged great gods exist

Will one of these alleged great gods ever reveal itself to the modern world???

Perhaps after the great tooth fairy finally does

Blind faith in childish superstitions is for losers and chumps...

Indeed, why is even one scoutmaster acceptable, or one teacher, or one baseball coach, or one relative or neighbor?

Yet I never see you holier than thou types complaining about that.

Is it because you really don't care about children being molested as long as you can take a shot at the Church?

Whataboutism is a really pathetic excuse for the FACT that the RCC made a habitual practice of PROTECTING the pedophiles in their midst for decades, if not longer.

"Whataboutism" is a construct that is supposed to prevent people from calling you (the collective you) on your hypocrisy.

In the meantime, I have seen several stories about teachers molesting students more recently than the pedophile Priest scandal, and not a word from you all.

there's significant difference between what an individual does on his own and an organization that was supposedly dedicated to protecting it's membership, schools didn't knowingly shelter pedophiles...whereas the RC an organization went about purposely protecting and hiding pedophiles who preyed on it's youngest and most vulnerable members...

Is that what they did? Perhaps the members here could share some of their intelligence, with names, dates, documents, because I don't believe everything I see in the papers.

I know a LOT of priests, and not one of them is a child molester. Most of the cases armchair experts bloviate about are decades old.

As far as I am concerned the actual "climate deniers" and "racism deniers" are not the "finger-in-ears"-type as their "denial" is not founded on pathological no-saying, but rather on skepticism - they question "climate change" being man made and they question the radical Marxist narrative of racism being everywhere. They are not actually denying their existence.

lol...climate deniers aren't skeptics, skeptics understand the science they're challenging.
I've never met a marxist in my 65 years on the planet so give that silly narrative a rest...racism is everywhere, only a racist would deny it...

I am sorry. but science is actually not in consensus regarding the issue. There are many reports suggesting the opposite of the mainstream narrative and not everyone who believes in that school is an anti-intellectual caveman.

Then I guess you have not went to University or ever read a paper or even watched the news. The Marxist worldview is the cultural hegemon and has been since the late 1960's.

I'm sorry for you...over 97% of the science agrees it's settled, climate change is real and this event is not natural...the remaining dissenters are energy shills and flat earthers...and you are not qualified to judge the science that is very much settled...being deliberately dumb is not pro intellectual, it's call ed the Dunning-Kruger Effect...

LOL, yeah I'll need to check under my bed for those nasty marxists LOL!...and oh I went to UNi a long time ago, no marxists hiding under the beds then either planning their hegemony

    .
Not true at all. First of all, it is important to note that "Climate Science" is a highly corrupt and dishonest science that operates under the control of government. Certain projects get funded over others because these projects can justify new taxes on carbon, gas, sunrises etc.

You clearly have zero understanding of the term "Marxist" and should really go back to Uni or at least to a library to study it.

are the schools protecting and hiding the culprits? you are failing to grasp the difference here...one institution (schools) is prosecuting the offenders, the other (RC) hid and protected the offenders from prosecution often to repeat their crimes elsewhere...

I take you are neither in shape nor in intellect to have an honest, construcive conversation about the topic and I will therefore ignore you.

Respectfully. I think a tiny minirity of christians would be able to answer simple questions like

What is the difference between mathew and john?

When were the gospels written and by whom?

In What language were the gospels written and where?

    What is the septuagint?

Why are there different versions of the bible?

this is enough to become familiar with other peoples interpretation of the bible
But we actually do not know, do we?
