What's wrong with discriminating on the basis of an event?

So you admit that you are mistaken in saying this?

Nope. If you read my post properly, you would know that I asked you, "what is "art" then in your eyes?" Do you actually have an answer for this?

I certainly don't, which is why I'm glad that it never happens! And are you under the impression that these wedding services business owners say "your kind is not served here?" Do you even know of any non-wedding service businesses that say this? Just one single example?

Okay, so they are "open to the general public." Does this mean that they should serve racists? Racists are part of "the general public" aren't they?

You're not saying that a bakery NEEDS to be a private club in order to be considered a private business offering a private service are you?

I am saying if they want to discriminate, they need to be a private members only club, not pose as a business open to the general public

"Custom made" as in each cake is different, requiring artistic expression.

if you sell wedding cakes, just sell them, why discriminate based on the gender of the couple

Let me clarify: I do not consider a private business which offers a private service to be a right and neither does the United States Constitution. Do YOU consider it a RIGHT?

not sure what you mean, you can be a private members only business or a business open to the general public

if one wants to discriminate, they have to be the private members only business

How the hell can a cake that hasn't been created yet be in a catalog?

Are you saying that a business open to the general public isn't a private business?

same way a house can be in a catalog and you pick it and some one builds it as described

same way you go out to eat and order from a menu

same way you order a pizza and it is delivered

They sell to males and females all the time! So how in the hell is it discrimination based on gender?

it's the gender of the couple that they are discriminating on

just like a business that discriminated on inter-racial couples is discriminating based on race

And these are all made unique to the individual which expresses the individual in the product after a one to one consultation between the creator and customer? By the way, the house building equivalent to a wedding cake would be a customer sitting down with an architect to design a house from scratch. The final result wouldn't be in a catalog would it?

So you think, they are being discriminated against, because, they can't discriminate?

Does that make any sense to you?

Yeah, "discrimination" was a poor choice of words. I should've said "attacks by the State of Arizona."

Have you ever heard of a business which discriminates against interracial couples but serves each member of that race individually?

Does the federal gov't have control over a state, the same way you want a state to have control over a city?

Have I stated how much control I want a state to have over a city?

I have heard of people that were ok with both races marrying, just not inter-racial marriage, surprised you have not - would you be ok with that type of discrimination?

they even used religion to justify it too.. sad!

    http://law2.umkc.edu/faculty/projects/ftrials/conlaw/loving.html

"Almighty God created the races white, black, yellow, malay and red, and he placed them on separate continents. And, but for the interference with his arrangement, there would be no cause for such marriage. The fact that he separated the races shows that he did not intend for the races to mix."
    -Judge Leon M. Bazile (January 6, 1959)
