No, passing a law that says that anyone in the general public can yank a book is clearly working for the end of education.

Also, the number of books on a topic isn't a good measure of whether the topic is covered or whether the material is reasonably available in a high school.

As for DeSantis, there is no question that he wants to use the FL school system to promote his ridiculously hateful social views. He can't even leave private enterprise (such as DISNEY) in his state alone!!!

I'm not the one saying that everything is racist. Doing so does a real disservice to the times when actual racism occurs.

Despite your opinions there are plenty of people in Florida who are very happy with the job the man is doing. You're entitled to express your opinions and we are entitled to disagree with them and dispute them as not accurate.

If he runs for president next I will vote for him or if he runs for reelection as my Governor I will vote for him as well.

Uh. He can’t run for re-election unless he’s willing to sit out for four years.

Sounds more like another leftist exaggeration. I don't believe you.

How many books do you need on Rosa Parks to cover that one moment in time? I wonder how many books are on JFK or Regan.

Not allowing teachers to indoctrinate 5 year olds with trans and gay sexuality issues is hateful?
    Who knew

Yet another leftist exaggeration so lets clear the air here. Disney attacked DeSantis.
Their woke California majority stock holders decided they would spend what ever it takes to overturn the new law protecting 5 year olds. Then labeled it as the Don't Say Gay law.
I missed the part where theme parks have the power to legislate state laws.

Disney attacked DeSantis and they lost HUGE. 50% stock drop and the removal of their Reddy Creek agreement.
Maybe next time woke Disney will not put its Micky Mouse nose where it doesn't belong.

I would recommend stepping away from the leftist media for a while. They aren't doing you any favors

I’m so grateful to have grown up and educated before parents decided children are incapable of having an independent thought before they graduate college.

I was openly exposed to all sorts of ideas as a youth, and I was raised republican, Catholic, racist and homophobe. I still saw the statue of David and wasn’t shocked about a penis. My incredibly closed minded parents of the 70s would be considered loony lefties today .

That must be what we get when children are taught that everyone gets a trophy. Now they are teaching their kids that nobody ever needs to have their views challenged.

Disney exercised their first amendment rights. The government is punishing them for it.

Update.. Disney pushed back, now Florida taxpayers have to pay to maintain roads on Disney property. The new oversight board put in byDeSantis has no oversight, now. I guess they can decide if road repair starts on Monday or Tuesday.

    Big win for nobody.

Doesn't sound like you are curious enough to even check to make sure your claim wasn't fake news.

No state-level book bans in Florida.

Fact check: Fake list of banned Florida books circulates widely online
'Florida does not issue statewide bans on specific books, Bryan Griffin, DeSantis' press secretary, told USA TODAY in an email. Instead, under the new law, "the state sets guidelines regarding...'

    DeSantis is a TOTAL JOKE.

The Reedy Creek agreement with Florida that gives Disney the power over that region contains a clause that states that Disney continues to be in charge ...

    (now get this)

... until 21 years after the last survivor of the descendants of King Charles III passes away.

The panel that DeSantis set up to damage Disney for presumed social issues just got it's entire work preempted.

And, they didn't even know it.

    Amen.

Kudos to Disney for defending themselves against the attempt by DeSantis to punish Disney for views DeSantis hates.

    There are various sources.

This one is a video commentary that includes views of documents and video of the DeSantis anti-Disney committee in their hearing the bad news from what I think is their legal representation.

And how does that explain how you didn't know that Disney attacked DeSantis or how Disney lost 50% of their stock value over it

He did attack Disney. That’s not a secret. He never expressed one single interest in breaking the state’s 60 year relationship with Disney until they used their 1st amendment rights to rally against one of his policies.

Now, he has egg on his face. He’s pissed off Florida’s #1 tax payer and now has made it so they have to pay less for their own infrastructure.

He was a really good governor until the moment Trump demanded DeSantis’ lips to Trump’s ass. Now, he is where he is.

OMG, this pretend land you guys live in is just amazing.
Why would DeSantis even think of going after Disney. Just for no reason at all? Is this what the left has been programed to think?
DeSantis just out of the blue woke up one morning and said, clear my schedule, I want to take Disney to their knees?
I find it amazing how the left has this uncanny way of just playing dumb until you show them a dated article, then magically, right away, they know all about it and have another pretend land claim.
You guys really crack us all up.

I'm sorry, when did the first amendment give a theme park the right to bring in millions in attorney fees to obstruct Florida legislation?
Like when Disney declares they are going to overturn Florida laws that are supported by the majority of Floridians but Disney, with their woke ideology gets the idea that they will have the last say in Florida laws?
I didn't know theme parks had legislative powers.

Really dude, get off the leftist media train. It really ain't workin for ya. Maybe you can sell that BS to another woke liberal but you can't sell it anyone with an IQ higher than a fence post.
