Reparations for Slavery.

As a white guy, when did Black people give you negotiating authority for them?

 

A man who has bad facts can't really negotiate.he must rely on what his opponents are willing to give him. This particular SjW has only fantasies to sustain his position,and so mus acquiesce to zero dollars.

 

I still find the "how"' and the "who" extremely confusing in regards to this matter. I understand all the moral arguments, but I just cannot understand how the system would look in reality.

First of all, it would require a massive race mapping initiative, so that we know which citizen is a receiver and which is a giver. This comes with the problem of determining "Blackness" - Do we use the "one drop rule" or should we use another metric? What about biracials? What about "1/4ths"? Where does "Blackness" end?

Such meassure is certainly extremely controversial and would cost a lot of time and money to conduct. Do we open a new government agency for this? Wouldn't that cost Black taxpayers more in the long run than the sum they would receive in reparations?

Is the suggestion even that each Black individual gets a check every month or is it rather that the money is to be transfered to some sort of institution?

There are simply too many uncertainties surrounding this matter for it to ever be put into practice and it is highly unlikely that the suggestion would do anything to combat racism, it would - actually - cause even more racism.

it's not even remotely possible, or desirable - in the 21stC. and yes, it would dramatically increase racism.

Affirmative Actions is a form of reparations. Demand for additional reparations has no merit.

 

Affirmative action was to allay white privilege, not as a reparation. a reparation was paid to jewish ppl for the holocaust but this was only admissible due to white privilege, hence why black folk never received reparation because they were black, thus, white privilege didnt end and as such Affirmative action proved redundant.

 

Your white privilege is showing.

 

So the right way to do it is to abolish Affirmative Actions first and then to talk about reparations.
I understand that you want double jackpot and get a unique privilege, but it would essentially means declaration of racial war.
Why do you think you will win if such war starts in earnest?

 

but you cant abolish affirmative action until white privilege has gone and as is the case with WEJ reparations, we can see white privilege is still in full effect and costing you and I $billions.

Let's take reparations seriously. What should be done? The ever popular cash payout would be short sighted, a bureaucratic nightmare, probably not change anything for future generations and be very unpopular with the "non recipients".

What the African American community is unhappy about is the legacy of slavery: institutional racism, red lining prevented accumulation of wealth, increasing inequity, blue collar job loss, chronic poverty.

What could change that? Home ownership is how most people accumulate wealth that can be passed down through generations. How about a national rent to buy program interest free? How about soaking the rich to provide Medicare for all and free higher education? Chronic poverty can be improved with high quality day care starting at 2 or 3. Children living in poverty start grade school far behind the others and most never catch up only to repeat the cycle with their children.

Cultural racism is pervasive and with more black people in the middle class and out of poverty it will help that dissolve. I was watching the Last OG last night and Tracy Morgan's ex-wife (who is black), who was moving, was explaining she lets black people do her hair, orientals do her nails, hispanics fix things, and whites to do things that needed to be insured and bonded. The movers she mistakenly hired was a black business because the owner had used his "white voice" on the phone and hilarity ensued.

 

Apparently I an correct in all matters of African American reparations.....then, MAKE IT SO.

 

No reparations are proving very unpopular with so called african americans but iguess thats the lesser evil in your opinion right? as long as whites remain "happy" is the main goal right?
cash payout is not short sighted. its worked for the pandemic, lets take the same measures for the original sin and clean the slate and it will change EVERYTHING for future generations. just look how free unpaid labour for 400 years helped white folk!

80 years after the holocaust and whites are still getting reparations. that is white privilege my friend in its purest form.

 

white privilege is when you can murder and mutilate and commit genocide yet be a national hero. hitler lost that privilege when he did just that to his own ppl, had the victims been "black" he would be celebrated today just like leopold, rhodes, blair, alexander etc are.
