This may not be directly related to any event but I think it's partially related to all of them.

First I want to preface what I mean when I say responsibility. I am speaking specifically about taking control of one's own life. I am not speaking about taking blame for events.

So why do I bring this up? Well mostly because I'm a millennial. And a lot of people particularly in older Generations have been dumping on mine. I'm not here to argue whether that's right or wrong why they're doing it or how this happens in just about every other generation. I'm here to talk about a problem I see with my generation.

The major issue I think that faces this generation is personal responsibility. Don't get me wrong this was an issue I had to deal with. I was lucky to have very dedicated parents that saw the problem knew they were unequipped to handle it and sought professional help. Being the adult I am I'm grateful for that. In my youth I was rather offended.

So why exactly is this a problem? The only thing I can think of is the Act of blaming somebody for something wrong in your life magically erases the need to correct it. Yeah I'll go ahead and agree most of your problems aren't your fault. But it is entirely on you to correct them or even get help to correct them.

What I mean by that is that sure I'll go ahead and give it to you the world may be cruel to you. It may be more so than it is to others. Bet you had to deal with bullying because you are small, being disadvantaged as a child. Growing up poor. In these cases you're not to blame. But you are the sole recipient of the consequences. It isn't fair, sadly life rarely is. And the system is absolutely rigged to benefit those with ambition. It isn't easy, but having gone through a few things myself and feeling that if I blame someone else it meant the problem was into mine and therefore are not my responsibility, then learning that that type of thinking will only serve to exacerbate any problems I had, iview the hard work in the repeated feeding on Humble Pie worth every second and I'd absolutely do it again if I had to.

What are your thoughts Millennials gen xers even Baby Boomers I don't know if they post here, what do you think about this subject I know it's abstract and it requires a lot of reflection but I'm interested to discuss even if you don't agree.

Good post. A worthwhile endeavor might be to learn as much about your grandparents' early lives and their parents' lives. In most cases I'll bet you would see some very strong examples of people who lived lives of personal responsibility.

I'm a millennial and it's a truly terrible generation overall. Not as bad as baby boomers, the spoiled rich brats of the greatest generation that squandered everything that generation fought for and caused the entire mess we are in to begin with, but pretty close.

I feel very fortunate to live in the time that I do. Jobs are very easy to come by travel is very inexpensive very easy. Free time is abundant. And I had that innocent childhood that lasted a little longer that my parents innocent childhood.

Just the average everyday 50 years ago 100 years ago was so much more cumbersome.
