Jesus is not well recorded history, it's a well known myth, nothing more, just like other well known myths

I do not believe in Deities as there is no proof Deities exist, why woudl you believe in something that doesn't exist?

that said, I did believe in Santa and the Christian God when younger as that is what I was told to believe

I will argue the positions stated in his proofs, as soon as you come up with something for me to argue about? If you cannot refute it I accept your concession.

It is your OP of which, a substantial part is the quotation and I don't argue links and copy and pastes. If you can't make your case for yourself and you are not standing by what Matt says on the subject of atheism and lacking belief as being authoritative then what is your point?

    It's a simple enough question.

Seems he was well recorded in history

    wiki
The historicity of Jesus concerns the degree to which sources show Jesus of Nazareth existed as a historical figure. It concerns the issue of "what really happened", based upon the context of the time and place, and also the issue of how modern observers can come to know "what really happened".[1] A second issue is closely tied to historical research practices and methodologies for analyzing the reliability of primary sources and other historical evidence. It also considers the question of whether he was a Nazirite.[2][3]

Virtually all New Testament scholars and Near East historians, applying the standard criteria of historical investigation, find that the historicity of Jesus is effectively certain although they differ about the beliefs and teachings of Jesus as well as the accuracy of the details of his life that have been described in the gospels.

= Jesus not a myth now what? Not that I have any idea how that applies other than a distration from the point of the thread?

and I dont care, you jumped into this debate and now you concede without so much as one rebuttal, fine with me, I am not obligated to follow your posting rules, you should have thought of that before you jumped in the thread making claims.

    Concession accepted.

a man can become a myth... that does not prove the existence of God... sorry

the bible could not even agree what his last words were

    Jesus' last words
Matt.27:46,50: "And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, "Eli, eli, lama sabachthani?" that is to say, "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" ...Jesus, when he cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost."

Luke23:46: "And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, "Father, unto thy hands I commend my spirit:" and having said thus, he gave up the ghost."

John19:30: "When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, "It is finished:" and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost."

not only that, the Muslims version of Jesus differs from the Christian version, word of mouth communications back then were not reliable and myths were much easier to create back them, now we call them fake news

people often believe what they "want" to believe

Ah you edited in more stuff :)

Thats what I said you are at least honest about it and take a bonafide position, unlike the lack of believers who only use that as a lever to dodge critical analysis, now, so that said, why would you believe no deities exist when you cannot prove it or even provide anyone with positive evidence your belief is true?

Oh sure everyone believes in santa and when you start to question it your parents being in the next door neighbor to prove santa is real LOL

doesn't work that way, there is no reason to believe something without valid proof

if there is no proof something exists, why would you believe it does

extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence to be believed

You have nothing, you lost your previous argument that atheists don't 'lack belief' and now you are running away from a quote that you posted unprepared to stand by it or derive an argument from it. Your Op is a fail and resorting to CARM and Matt Slick is beyond fail.

Until you just admitted defeat in your OP, it has been a central claim running through your posts that atheists do not 'lack belief' so just to add salt to the wounds mate, here's what your buddy Matt has to say...

'...Atheism is the lack of belief in a god and/or the belief that there is no god...' Matt Slick

    https://carm.org/what-is-atheism

    Busted.

By the way, do you 'lack belief' in the Holocaust?

Thats a nice distraction lack of belief analysis and you are talking about Chritain beliefs not atheist beliefs as you gave us the impression you were going to do and worse none of that proves God does not exist, so you went full circle to end right back where you started and are drifting further off topic with each post attacking Christains rather than defending atheists lack of belief.

    Yes I see that.

Ok so now that you went full circle again none of that proves God does not exist, why run this path, derail attempt?

Thats a contradiction since you believe God does not exist without valid proof.

Yes, screw extraordinary you cant provide ANY evidence that God does not exist!

There is no reason to believe God does not exist without evidence of nonexistence.

we were talking about the historical accuracy of Jesus, you said it was accurate, I showed you just one example that it was not, yet do you still believe it is? why?

I did not attack Christians, I pointed out inaccuracies in the bible.... nothing more

I showed proof of reasons to disbelieve in the historical accuracy of that one Mythical God, is that not what you were asking for?

would I be attacking Sun God worshipers if I pointed out the facts about the Sun? Not at all, I would just be giving reasons I do not believe the Sun is a God

no, I do not believe in a God without valid proof, no reason too

you would need proof that such God existed, not the other way around

Yeh he busted atheists chops again didnt he, but if you want to say things changed since he wrote the article yes they did.

    He said:
Presuppositions are important to us all. We look at the world through them. The atheist has a set of presuppositions, too. As I said, there is no definitive atheist organization that defines the absolutes of atheism, but there are basic principles that atheists, as a whole, tend to adopt. I've tried to list some of them below. Please note, however, that not all atheists accept all of these tenets. The only absolute common one to which they hold is that they do not believe in a God or gods.

There in fact is an official atheist organization, INTERNATIONAL no less that provides us with atheist dogma:

    About AAI

Atheist Alliance International (AAI) is a global federation of atheist and freethought groups and individuals, committed to educating its members and the public about atheism, secularism and related issues.

A positive global voice for atheism and secularism, Atheist Alliance International:

    • Strengthens co-operation between atheist and freethought organisations around the world;
    • Supports the establishment of new atheist/freethought organisations, particularly in developing countries; and
    • Facilitates and supports projects/events that promote atheism, critical thinking and empiricism, while combating discrimination against atheists and freethinkers around the world.
    Vision and Mission

Atheist Alliance International's vision is a secular world where public policy, scientific inquiry and education are not influenced by religious beliefs, but based upon sound reasoning, rationality and evidence.

[OMFG PURE LIES! They cant even come up with so much as ONE lousy counter argument to the OP]

Atheist Alliance International's mission is to challenge and confront religious faith, to strengthen global atheism by promoting the growth and interaction of atheist/freethought organisations around the world and to undertake international educational and advocacy projects.

    Education

Education is the core approach of Atheist Alliance International. AAI supports its members and the public in the acquisition of new knowledge by:

    • Providing news on atheist/secular issues and campaigns through the AAI website and social media channels
    • Publishing Secular World magazine and the periodic Imagine! newsletter
    • Hosting atheist conventions with local groups around the world, to provide the opportunity for communities to hear from established and new atheist speakers
    • Supporting the establishment of new atheist/freethought groups, particularly in developing countries
    • Supporting educational projects, such as the Kasese Humanist Primary School in Uganda

[Well they arent doing a very good job educating us so far in this thread!]
    Advocacy

Basic rights, justice and social responsibility form the foundation of what it means to be human. AAI works to defend and protect the rights of atheists and like-minded people by publicising relevant issues, distributing media releases, developing policy statements and cooperating with other groups to bring issues and injustices to the attention of media and government.

    Community-Building

AAI recognises the value of social communities and the importance of providing a strong and protective foundation for individuals, families and groups. In addition to promoting and encouraging the formation of new atheist organisations around the world, AAI supports international outreach and community-building programs such as the atheist "OUT" campaign. Such programs raise general awareness of the atheist community, help new communities to become established and counter the bias and discrimination directed at atheists. Some of these activities are operated through the AAI Foundation.

Atheist Alliance International is run by a volunteer international Board of Directors and relies on membership fees and donations to fund its activities. If you support atheism and secularism please join us!

    History

Atheist Alliance International was founded in the United States as the Atheist Alliance in 1991 by four local US atheist organisations: Atheists United (Los Angeles, California), Atheist Coalition (San Diego, California), Atheists of San Francisco Region (California) and the Atheist Network (Houston, Texas). Atheist Alliance quickly added additional affiliates. Within a year, it had eight US organisations as members and by the end of 1992, its first international affiliate.

Atheist Alliance began publishing its magazine, Secular Nation, in the second half of 1994.

Atheist Alliance began hosting US conventions in 1995, with the first one held in Los Angeles, California. The Atheist Alliance website went on-line in 1997.

By 2001, the organisation had a half-dozen affiliates outside the US, and so changed its name to Atheist Alliance International (AAI).

In 2006, AAI held its first international conference, in Reykjavik, Iceland. In 2010, it began its current program of co-hosting conventions with Affiliate and Associate Members, starting with the extremely successful 2010 Global Atheist Convention held in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

In 2010 AAI determined that it could more effectively pursue its goals by separating its US-focused activities from its global activities. The US-focused group, Atheist Alliance of America, became an Affiliate Member of AAI.

    Values

    1. Reason and rational thought. Reason and rational thought are the basis of logical decision making and essential to address the issues faced by humanity.

    2. Science and empiricism. The scientific method is the best tool we have for seeking truth and understanding our world. We make conclusions based on the best available evidence and change our conclusions accordingly as new evidence becomes known.

    3. Compassion. Human compassion and empathy are the basis of a cooperative social structure that benefits all people.

    4. Purpose. This life is the only life we know we will have and it is up to each of us to utilise it meaningfully.

    5. Freedom. All people are entitled to freedom from discrimination on the basis of gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity and disability. All people are entitled to freedom of conscience. AAI supports the values outlined in the International Convention of Human Rights.

    6. Responsibility. Each person is part of a global society and is responsible for humane interaction with other people and animals and for the preservation of our habitable planet.

    Not so busted after all

You have not provided not so much as one counter argument or rebuttal and you think I lost the argument? Seriously?
    Magic maybe?
    Are you a magician?
Looks more like you are trying to find any way possible to dodge the whole matter. LOL

Look at that crap they quote statutes right out of US Federal Commercial Law Book! Unbelievable!

Thats no reason to believe Deities do not exist, because the biographers didnt get it as precise as you would like since that is not the only thing they wrote about, I am sure since you analyzed this you must be able to tell me what percentage of any presumed errors compared to what they got right IYO, and how that matter should somehow be used to void anyones believe in God.

It seems no one here can refute the OP, looks like I will be accepting lots of concessions thank you Matt.

Ah keep dodging, concession accepted, lack of belief fails the sniff test and you prove it fails the logic and reason test.

I neither affirm nor deny the existence of Deities.

It doesnt look like any of the atheists here so far can refute and/or counter any of Matts proofs proving the atheists 'lack of belief' theory to be bogus.

Not so much as one lousy counter, truly amazing.

This is starting to look like atheists believe in something they cant even explain?
