IMHO you put up statues and emblems for people and things people revere as a society.

Lets look over seas to Germany. No Swastikas remain on buildings. No statues of famous German officers from WWII. No statues of Hitler. No Nazi flags flying or decals seen on people's vehicles.

However they still do not deny or acknowledge their past. You can go to a concentration camp and learn about the horrors committed there. You will find memorials for fallen soldiers with no emphasis being placed on the ideals they were sent to die for.

As a nation we put of statues and monuments for the people of the past whose ideals and actions we admire. Those that we aspire to emulate as a nation.

I can think of some people whose statues, if I had to look at them everyday, I'd want to vandalize. But they are contemporary people. I associate living behaviors, personality and words to them. Can anyone out there who wants to see these statues torn down actually say they feel something viscerally when they see them? Does Lee's words ring through your ears everytime you see them? Truthfully. I'm assuming most peoples' only understanding of slavery is influenced by a Hollywood movie's sado-masachistic rendition of it. They certainly haven't understood how far civilization has come since the days of slavery - nor do they understand that we are all fighting class slavery right now.

So, not only do I question the educational/intellectual level of the vandals, I wonder why Democrats encourage and defend vandalism and violence of any sort. Is that going to be your new platform - vandolism and violence?

    Trump recently said-
“Racism is evil, and those who cause violence in its name are criminals and thugs, including the KKK, neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and other hate groups that are repugnant to everything we hold dear as Americans."

How about you quote something from Trump that evidences his "Supremacy of the white man" credo. Show us this isn't just something you imagined in your own mind.

They even needed to send a girl to climb the statute to wrap the strap around the head in order to pull it down so they could show how macho they could be in physically attacking an inanimate object

Wouldn't that rule out any American who supported a government that denied a woman the right to vote pre 1920s?
