Monette mayor warns residents about ‘Storm Chasers’

Whatever you call them, these are out-of-town unlicensed contractors who try and rip off homeowners after natural disasters like tornados, hurricanes, and earthquakes.

“I’m afraid to say we have, we have had two different incidents,” said Monette Mayor Bob Blankenship. “We were able to stop one of them before they scammed someone out of some money.”

Irish travelers charge ridiculous amounts of money for repairs and sometimes do not even complete the job. Sam Leslie is an investigator for the Arkansas Contractors Licensing Board and has dealt with Irish Travelers firsthand and says homeowners need to be smart.

 

Using that silly and bigoted logic everyone is a scam artist. Americans are rip-off artists. Germans are rip-off artists. Southerners are rip-off artists. etc.



Rip-off artists are everywhere. They are not particular to a culture.

 

Which is common knowledge.
And has been common knowldge for ages.
That is the truth.

I thought it was Romanians so I put other. Don't run into any very often.

 

Roumanians are the people from Roumania - that is another story.

 

There is a movement in Israel to invite many groups of Gypsies to claim their Israeli citizenship as members of the Lost Tribe of Levi.

My wife went to a Gypsy church in Quito, Ecuador and fitted right in because she had some of the astonishing gifts that are common in the Roma or Gypsy communities.

 

Though I do not claim to be an authority, it was my understanding that the term, "Travelers," was specific to Irish, "gypsies."
