    I hate to admit it.......

but on the issue of GMO seeds........ Russia is far ahead of us and they deserve credit for this stance!

Frankly....... I term myself "pro-life"..... .but if all that is meant by pro-life is to be against
    third term abortions........
and if I support GMO technology by my silence........

then am I a hypocrite to call myself "pro-life?"

One of the scariest aspects of the topic of GMO's
is their possible connection with the disappearance of
    the BEES.

Thank you for answering one of the questions that I was wondering about.

You have just given me another potential bill that I can add to my list that I will need to attempt to campaign for
office at either the provincial or federal level here in Canada.

Here is another one I believe can be introduced as it is worded......... with a possible addition of a certain number of weeks.

The GMO horse is out of the barn. 80% of processed foods now contain GMO ingredients. Without them we will not be able to feed to world's growing population in the future.

It's not our responsibility to feed the world's population. Besides, once the dollar collapses, and it will eventually be removed as world reserve currency, we'll have problems feeding ourselves. GMO's are harmful in most cases and should be avoided.

I urge everyone to buy non-GMO and organic and support those farmers. Boycott the (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)s who sell GMO's.

You're eating GMO every day unless you are on a strictly whole foods diet. Somehow you survive.

GMO's aren't as bad as pesticides or heavy metal contamination or things like prion contamination, of course, but they're not good for you. To say "Oh you're surviving" is asinine. You've clearly never dealt with serious health problems. Toxicity is a huge issue in health, which the modern medical establishment doesn't even address.

My own story is too long to go into, but I'm on a strictly organic diet for the most part, so no, I don't eat GMO's. Go stuff your face though. Cede your responsibilities and let others make those choices for you. Don't do any research, just trust everything around you. But you don't have the right to force this stuff on other people. This is just more corruption straight out of Washington. These companies buy off all the politicians and then get legal protection to manipulate the food as they want to without consequences.

I do not se ethat anyone has established that there is any connection with GMO ,s and the demise of bees. Furthermore there is evidence that it is the European honey bee thst is having the problem nit other types if bees.

Why not look for a natural reason for bees being in decline? Ironic that many people who claim that global warming is not influenced at all by man are ready to jump on man made GMO,s as the cause of our problems.

It seems that the GMO issue is becoming a partisan pizz ing contest just as global warming deniers are festooned with an army of ignorant partisan freaks.

    - - - Updated - - -

You really think that honesty and truth will convince the partisan GMO apponents?

Unfortunately not. The anti-science streak is found on both sides of the political spectrum.
The science for some people is only valid when it confirms their preconceived ideas.

Nothing - no bread, prepared soups, nothing at all? No soy, canola, nothing with sucrose?

Any food that diverges from it's natural state is processed. Wheat is a whole food (but can be GMO and you won't necessarily know it). Bread is a processed food.

Recently I read what Putin had said about GMO foods and his refusal of having it in his country - good for him. He knows what's best for his citizens.....to bad we don't have the same kind of caring leaders.

Not long ago I read that Monsanto invented a new apple in their petrie dish - guaranteed not to spoil. Of course it won't....it's not a real food.

All this processed crap and people wonder why Americans have an obesity problem.........

A couple yrs ago a relative got curious about the Amish and researched them. Later he told me that autism is practically nil in the Amish and asked me if I knew why - said "because of the healthy food they eat. They grow all of their own"......"Right!"....now doesn't that make sense? The pg mother feeds her fetus' brain nothing but healthy foods and no autism?

This same relative got curious about nutrition and took a class of it at his college and learned a lot. One of the worst things you can eat is white bread....then he learned about what they put in foods at the fast food places - McD's, BK, all of them. It's loaded w/perservatives, a ton of sodium and chemicals. He never at at a fast food place again and that was around 4-5 yrs ago. He was around 25 at the time and told him he got a big jump start on good health....

There's a ton of eye-opening info out there. All people have to do is read up on GMO's and good nutrition and get educated.....but they won't.

I'd read the same thing about our honey bees and that if they're gone, 'we lose life'....sugar is one thing I quit buying yrs ago and replaced it w/honey. Was surprised how many people didn't know that if there's an expiration date on honey container, it's not real honey. Real honey will last forever......I buy mine from a country guy who has his own honey business.....

In your previous posts you said things that don't spoil aren't real foods.......

The apple still spoils, it just doesn't brown after it's cut. Apples are one of the few fruits that discolor that fast after they are cut, and its' due to the enzyme polyphenol oxidase. The GMO version just eliminates polyphenol oxidase. Other than that, the apple still rots, just like any other apple.

    Thank you for this comment.

Your opinion is helping me to make my final decision to make banning them a part of my platform.

Should all of them be banned, or from your research are one or two of them not so dangerous to bees?

I have changed my opinion on GMO. I m not against genetic modification. I am just not sure it is necessary to feed our growing population. Organic producers understand the value of soil building. After breaking it down to the simple elements all farm production except aquaponic production relies on soil. In fact, our lives depend on a thin layer of soil ...and the fact it rains. IMHO we are spending too much time and money on fertilizer, herbicide, pesticide, and fungicide. Rather than finding a way to conserve and build the topsoil that we all depend on. I think we need to focus more energy on improving soil and ecological diversity and less energy on trying to improve mother nature. Rather than trying to improve on nature we should learn work with what nature supplies. Without soil and rain a GMO means nothing. It's the ecology, stupid.

I tho't most everyone was familiar w/honey and how the real stuff, made naturally, not processed or invented in a petrie dish, doesn't go bad.

I'm sure many will be eating the new invented apple by Monsanto and that's their choice. Quite awhile ago I heard on news that Monsanto had invented a new meat in their lab......it was called "Shmeat" - the 'sh' standing for feces. It would be.........

There have been links to nitocotine based pesticides killing bees but also the possibility of fungicides doing the damage. That being said ...I don't like nicotine based pesticides. They kill biodiversity. That isn't good.
