    Abandoned Russian Base Reveals Ukraine War Secrets. Reuters is out with an exclusive report on an abandoned Russian base in the Ukrainian town of Balakiila. Retreating Russian forces left thousands of documents at the base detailing the inner working of Russia’s war machine. The documents indicate that Russian forces were severely depleted ahead of their withdrawal from northeast Ukraine in September. They also reportedly contained evidence of Russian troops torturing Ukrainian prisoners. The document cache additionally offered accounts of a breakdown in morale and discipline in the face of increasingly effective Ukrainian attacks. Reuters
