Litwin, you should know that this is an old tradition. This procedure actually makes people more healthy, unless there are special restrictions from a doctor.

I have news for you Litwin, the kids scream just as much when being baptized in a church and in a font with warm water...so I wouldn't take it to heart. I guess it toughens them for the Russian climate.

As for me, I was rebaptized in the Jordan with some water sprinkled on my head, (it was winter)...and so I became a 'hadji'. My name is officially now; Hadjeannette. (I'm not joking you know!)

 

Oh then children shouldn't be immersed when baptized? I'll have to tell the Russian Church.
