Yet...we constantly see folks making excuses for this culture and it's ideology...which has not changed in thousands of years....we see barbaric examples over and over and even from muslim refugees fleeing the middle east....aka throwing some of their fellow Christian passangers into the water to drown because of some dispute with them on the boat.

How many of you would feel comfortable living next door to someone with such low levels of tolerance for others?

What is more amazing to me, considering this event, is the our longstanding friendship with such a totalitarian regime that would execute folks for seemingly minor infractions as it were.

Anything for cheap oil I suppose.

Is it not strange that the only friends and allies of USrael in the huge Muslim world are these backward Saudis?

    :D

And USrael uses these backward people to destroy modern and tolerant states, like Syria.

Yeh but this Islam inspired murder based of Islamic Law that happened in a Muslim country has nothing to do with Islam.

Islam is a religion of peace

I read the article. It seems to be a crackdown on political dissent.

Does it indeed have something to do with Islam? Or is it simply one of our allies doing what they do, that being kill anyone within their country that speaks out against a monarchy?

No one claimed that...the article speaks for itself.

The homersexual link was just another indicator of their low tolerance for things the Western World tolerates and expects others to tolerate.

So what does your link to that video have anything to do with anything I said?

I read the article. Clearly this appears to be a crackdown on political dissent. Is it related to religion? Sure does not look like it.

Okay. Cheap oil and placating the Saudis over Israel. Sound better?

How are we placating the Saudis over Israel?

The artricle about the execution of homersexuals was intended to show their intolerance for other things than just political dissent.

The religious angle is the simple fact that islam is a intolerant religion....that it has not changed in thousands of years...yet those who want to bring more of them into America do not understand what they are dealing with.

According to the article in the OP, this has nothing to do with religion. If you object to capital punishment and you are an American, wouldn't Texas be the first place to start being mad about?

Despite the circumstances, it still doesn't change that

Brutal Sharia laws that call for murder of "adulterers" and "apostasy".

    Muslims and Their Views
Many apologists have attempted to shift the blame for this Muslim hostility towards homosexuality onto "the adoption of European Victorian attitudes by the new Westernized elite."

However, this explanation falls short. Within the context of Islamic thought, this attitude originated from the Prophet Muhammad, and since he is considered by all mainstream Muslims to be the Uswa Hasana (the perfect example) we find that the majority of Muslims still consider this harsh treatment of homosexuals to be justified.
Muhammad himself had stated, “If you find anyone doing as Lot's people did, kill the one who does it, and the one to whom it is done.” He even went so far as to condemn the “appearance” of homosexuality, when he cursed effeminate men and masculine women and ordered his followers to "Turn them out of your houses." This ruling on homosexuals was naturally adopted by his later successors.

It seems to me that it is more about the US maintaining ME influence by appeasing to the most powerful ME states (where possible), even in defiance of it's own supposed morals, in order to achieve an agenda such as The Wolfowitz Doctrine.

It has everything to do with islam and shariah law....how they practice such barbarism of executing a 15 yr. old for attending a rally....do you think any country in the whole of the Western World would tolerate such barbarism. It is about much more than just capital punishment....if is about tolerance and intolerance.....to compare the Judicial System in Texas or anywhere else in the Western World with how islamic nations deal out such things as stoning to death for adultery, executing homersexuals for being gay, executing kids for attending a political rally, cutting off someones hand or arm for stealing some bread....etc.etc. and so on and so forth.

There is no death penalty for homosexuals in Saudi Arabia, but they do execute pedophiles..

I expect this young protestor to be pardoned.

Apostasy is tacked on to the conviction for some crime like murder, drug trafficking, rape or pedophilia.. because it means "treason".. The convicted person has betrayed the community and the faith.

Islam is more about protecting the rights of the victims than of the accused.

The story of Lot is the only context in which homosexuality is discussed in the Qur’an. In 7 The Heights, 80-81, the Prophet Lot describes men who are attracted to men instead of women as immoderate people. Except for this type of statement by the prophet Lot, - in the context of a threatening situation - the Qur’an contains no explicit ban on homosexuality, while other aspects of sexual relations are explicitly dealt with. This very vacuum inspires some Muslims to reach out to the Bible for guidance. Thus, the killing of homosexuals, which occasionally takes place in one or two countries, seems ultimately based on the Bible rather than on the Qur’an. In spite of the lack of clear guidance in the Qur’an, many Muslims feel that homosexuality goes against the natural destiny of men, to whom God has given wives. Therefore, they respect the choice of others but will not make such a choice themselves. On the other hand, homosexual Muslims maintain that homosexual love relations between equals are not condemned in the Qur’an.

Prophet Muhammad made his opinion clear. And to Muslims Muhammad is the perfect example.

Don't try to pass off the blame. Because of what Muhammad said about homosexuals, many Muslim communities kill or imprison homosexuals. Do I need to shew you the chart again?

Islam goes beyond mere disapproval of homosexuality. Sharia teaches that homosexuality is a vile form of fornication, punishable by death. Beneath the surface, however, there are implied references to homosexual behavior in paradise, and it has been a historical part of Arab and Muslim culture.

    The Qur'an:

Qur'an (7:80-84) - "...For ye practice your lusts on men in preference to women: ye are indeed a people transgressing beyond bounds.... And we rained down on them a shower (of brimstone)" - An account that is borrowed from the Biblical story of Sodom. Muslim scholars through the centuries have interpreted the "rain of stones" on the town as meaning that homosexuals should be stoned, since no other reason is given for the people's destruction. (The story is also repeated in suras 27 and 29).

Qur'an (7:81) - "Will ye commit abomination such as no creature ever did before you?" This verse is part of the previous text and it establishes that homosexuality as different from (and much worse than) adultery or other sexual sin. According to the Arabic grammar, homosexuality is called the worst sin, while references elsewhere describe other forms of non-marital sex as being "among great sins."

Qur'an (26:165-166) - "Of all the creatures in the world, will ye approach males, "And leave those whom Allah has created for you to be your mates? Nay, ye are a people transgressing"

Qur'an (4:16) - "If two men among you are guilty of lewdness, punish them both. If they repent and amend, Leave them alone" This is the Yusuf Ali translation. The original Arabic does not use the word "men" and simply says "two from among you." Yusuf Ali may have added the word "men" because the verse seems to refer to a different set than referred to in the prior verse (explicitly denoted as "your women"). In other words, since 4:15 refers to "your women", 4:16 is presumably written to and refers to men.

Interestingly, the same rules don't apply in paradise, where martyrs for the cause of Allah enjoy an orgy of virgins and "perpetual youth" Qur'an (56:17) (otherwise known as "boys" Qur'an (52:24)). Qur'an (76:19) bluntly states, "And immortal boys will circulate among them, when you see them you will count them as scattered pearls." Technically, the mere presence of boys doesn't necessarily mean sex, however it is strongly implied from the particular emphasis on the effeminacy, handsomeness and "freshness" of the boys. The female virgins of paradise are also compared to pearls (56:23).

[Editor's note: We are not implying a link between homosexuality and pedophilia here anymore than we are implying one between heterosexuality and pedophilia when mentioning that Muhammad's preferred wife was a 9-year-old girl.]

    From the Hadith:

There are several lesser hadith stating, "if a man comes upon a man, then they are both adulterers," "If a woman comes upon a woman, they are both Adulteresses,” "When a man mounts another man, the throne of God shakes,” and “Kill the one that is doing it and also kill the one that it is being done to."

Abu Dawud (4462) - The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Whoever you find doing the action of the people of Loot, execute the one who does it and the one to whom it is done.".

Abu Dawud (4448) - "If a man who is not married is seized committing sodomy, he will be stoned to death." (Note the implicit approval of sodomizing one's wife).

Bukhari (72:774) - "The Prophet cursed effeminate men (those men who are in the similitude (assume the manners of women) and those women who assume the manners of men, and he said, 'Turn them out of your houses .' The Prophet turned out such-and-such man, and 'Umar turned out such-and-such woman."

al-Tirmidhi, Sunan 1:152 - [Muhammad said] "Whoever is found conducting himself in the manner of the people of Lot, kill the doer and the receiver."

Reliance of the Traveller, p17.2 - "May Allah curse him who does what Lot's people did." This is also repeated in three other places.

But these views and laws that's has inspires murder has nothing to do with Islam

please don't assume my challenge to your thread means I support the beheading of people...

america currently kills people, in some states, when they commit a crime... how is that any different than other countries who kill people when they commit a crime? is it because we rationalize and justify those actions because they were of a certain threshold, or because its somehow less barbaric then a beheading? well we can't say its less barbaric since we have regular examples of botched death sentences where people flopped like a fish or gagged for an hour before they finally stopped the process... so clearly we're just as barbaric despite our thoughts we are civil and worthy of choosing who lives and dies based on our moral compass...

do we think we're less vile simply because we say, well they killed someone, so they deserve death... isn't that the sign of a barbaric society? an eye for an eye? so we're all blind eventually? does the severity really justify the actions we take out of emotion, because it can't be a logical decision to sentence someone to death, it can only be a purely emotional response... so are we less barbaric for allowing our emotions to dictate we have the right to murder someone because they murdered someone?

just challenging your thoughts on the subject... while I support the death penalty, I surely don't pretend its anything but an emotional and barbaric response...

or is this purely because you believe they used religion to justify the deaths? when in many instances, the religion didn't dictate death for protesting either... oppressive leaders dictated that without their religion... I'm not sure what religion is popular in north korea, but it sure kills anyone who doesn't praise great leader... is that different?
