Thursday evening, CBS's Scott Pelley, who officially ended his tenure as the network's Evening News anchor the following evening, told viewers that "It's time to ask whether the attack on the United States Congress Wednesday was foreseeable, predictable and, to some degree, self-inflicted."
It's clear from Pelley's subsequent commentary that his answers to all three elements are "Yes." It's equally clear from the examples he supplied as support that he sees (or wants viewers to see) the problem as predominantly about the conduct of those on the right.

It's time to ask whether the attack on the United States Congress, yesterday, was foreseeable, predictable and, to some degree, self-inflicted.
Too many leaders, and political commentators, who set an example for us to follow, have led us into an abyss of violent rhetoric which, it should be no surprise, has led to violence.
Yesterday was not the first time.
In December last year, a man with an assault rifle stormed into a Washington-area pizzeria to free child sex slaves whom Hillary Clinton was holding there -- or at least that's what political blog sites had said. He fired into a locked door to discover no children in chains.....(continued)​

Scott Pelley blaming the victims. Typical looser left thinking. Obama is still running the fourth leg of govt. from his mansion. Still trying to destroy this country. Follow the money. Obviously national Progressive Marxist Leftists agree with Pelley. Democrats and the MSM told Republicans to stand down and not “politicize” this eminently political assassination attempt. Republicans, as usual, got spooked and obediently went out publicly stating that all sides had to tamp down the rhetoric.

 

I cannot recall when Gabby Giffords was SHOT IN THE FACE, there being such politicization by the left. Give it up already.

It's hard to tell from your out of context quote, but my assumption is that he thinks congress is somewhat responsible for the level of political dogmatism and oppositional, dismissive, dehumanizing rhetoric that has led to this. If he is saying that the republicans are specifically responsible, or that Scalise himself is personally responsible then he really doesn't get it.

You won't find an organization on the Democratic side like the NRA clamoring for "2nd Amendment solutions."
You won't find Democratic senators and congressmen clamoring for "2nd amendment solutions."
You won't find Democratic presidents or presidential candidates calling for "2nd amendment solutions."
You will find all of those things and more on the Republican side.

Your birds are coming home to roost. Your enabling, encouraging and preaching your "2nd amendment solutions" as part of your "conservative" theology has reached willing ears on many occasions over the last few years. You own this, live with it.
