Works both ways... except supporting Bernie Sanders takes a special kind of blind.

As admitted by Pelosi, some districts would elect a glass of water if it had a D next to it.
So the question is- how many Americans are that dumb?

The dems are making the political argument personal in every way, every day. While the history of politics has been performance arguments first, sometimes sprinkled with personal animosity- The democrats of today know they can't speak to performance at all; thus have turned their entire argument to one of personal animus like grade-school bullies trying to bluff their way through. Against Trump, their chance is about the same as a june bug going under a steam roller. They have been losing every trash argument that they have thrown at Trump since the campaign, and haven't learned a damn thing.

Their denial has worn so thin as a dodge to reality that it is totally transparent, and democratic leadership looks like a parade of fools. It's long since lost any chance of fooling the people, and it's embarrassing the nation now. If the hate didn't have malicious aspects to it and wasn't damaging our entire national character, it would be just a circus- but it does bring that danger. It is a pathetic situation that will stain the democratic party for a long, long time- and possibly destroy it.

Trump was not a career politician- he is a businessman, who knows that you must actually get things done; not talk them to death. The democrats have no idea how to do that, or how cope with that.
They should get used to losing; they are doing it everyday.

In the economy Donald Trump has created, there just aren't enough unemployed, impoverished losers for Bernie to win the general election.

While it’s easy to say we will simply tax the rich, there’s billionaires out there like Bill Gates that have gone on record and said they want to pay more in taxes. Changing the tax laws in this country would be a way to finance the proposals on the ultra wealthy and corporations. Bernies campaign is the most sound, while Warrens is a copycat campaign. Buttgrieg is tied down in his troubles in South Bend and Biden gets the Obama treatment by conservatives. Does Biden have a list of accomplishments? Yes, but Bernie has the momentum that could possibly beat Trump in the general.

Maybe, but there are enough people suffering from real income inequality Bernie talks about that could cost Trump the general.

As far as economic issues go, that's fourth on the list. It's also after general economic health and unemployment, and the economy is doing well and unemployment is low.

I am for neither - what I am for though is objectivity, logic and rational thought - something that has been lacking thusfar.

    I favored Trump over Hillary.

    Bernie Sanders defended Soviet Russia.
He defended Cuba's dictator Fidel Castro.
He defended Venezuela's dictator Nicolás Maduro.
Now he's defending Iran's top terrorist, Qasem Soleimani.

    Interesting choice for President.

It will only take so long for people to figure out that Trump and the RW propaganda machine telling them that they are doing great, economically, doesn't actually mean that they are doing great in reality.

True, but there are plenty of 20-somethings looking for a free ride to give Bernie a boost. Appears Dems all share this grandfather complex... always looking for somebody to take care of em.

Hopefully you would favor Trump over Bernie too. Unless your objectivity, logic and rational thought has leaked out since 2016.

    Careful, your partisan-slip is showing...

With that said. there may be a couple of Democrats that could beat him, but Sanders isn't one of them. The left has underestimated Trump before and as a result he beat "the most qualified, sure-fire candidate to ever run", and you seem to be doing it again. The only thing that would make it possible is in the unlikely even that Trump isn't acquitted by the Senate.

Voter turnout for Trump's base will be insane. You guys are riling up his base and while your internal polling may be saying that his base is shrinking because of impeachment, I believe it is actually growing.

In short, you are repeating a lot of the same mistake that you made the last time. I would really like you guys to find a legitimate candidate to draw these people away, but the Democrats ceased being civil libertarians three decades ago so that is unlikely.

Surely you realize - at least on some level - that uber partisanship is harming this nation - and both you and I know - that you are voting Red - regardless of what logic and reason says.

You can take comfort in the fact that you are with the majority - be it on the left or right. At least that is one thing you can say you have in common with the left ;)

The color of the suit one is wearing means nothing to me - as the platitudes that color represents are meaningless. Red Establishment hates some of the main principles of Republicanism - likewise - Blue Establishment hates some of the main principles of Classical Liberalism

The interesting thing - is that both Red and Blue agree on the principles that they hate.

You keep focusing on the things Red and Blue disagree on. I a focused on the things on which the Establishment is in agreement - because that is where you find the Devil - or what I refer to as "the Beast" .. invoking somewhat less black vs white perspective.

Republicanism was born out of Classical Liberalism - as such they are very similar - Respect for Limited Gov't power - individual liberty - rule of law - private property - free market economy and so on.

I mentioned the above principles because these are the one's that the Establishment hates both Red and Blue.

I did not know how Trump stood on these principles prior to his election - with any certainty -no past political track record of any note. I have a much better idea now - and Trump is an Establishment wonk - in full agreement on that which the Establishment agrees.

Sanders - voted against the Iraq war - at a time when doing so was exceedingly damaging. Phil Donahue (male Opera for 2 decades) - spoke out against the war and has never worked in the mainstream since. Maher lost the show Politically Incorrect - over a politically incorrect joke with respect to the war ... "It doesn't take much bravery bombs from 10,000 feet - relative to a suicide bomber"

Regardless of what you think of Sanders - it takes balls to run against a herd of stampeding bulls - go against the Establishment.

Sanders has proven anti establishment street cred. Trump - is an Establishment wonk.

The Establishment loves trampling on individual liberty while increasing the power of Gov't.
they love wealth redistribution (a key aspect of Socialism) - Red even more than Blue.

They hate fair and free markets - love Oligopolies - love tax law and regulations which favor the elite and keep the little guy from competing.

Tulsi is my favorite at the moment - but the Dem Establishment hates her - another example of someone running against the herd.

Donald runs with the herd - in almost lock step on most things - on which the Establishment agrees.

The DNC is not going to allow Bernie to get the nomination. They will figure out a way, this time they will be smart enough not to discuss it via emails. Berrnie has zero chance, the democrats are counting on Bernie supporters to do as they are told and toe the line and vote for whomever the party determines the nominee will be. It just won't be Bernie.
If you are a Bernie clone, most of you will do as you are told, lemmings to the very end.

Some billionaires have said they would pay more taxes, that's true. This is to a great extent, a marketing move. It gives that person an image that is harder for the left to attack, while knowing that the tax level is not going to change. It's a "safe" thing to say. But lets say we did increase the taxes on Gates and others. They then increase the price of Windows that you pay, and keep their income intact, while you pay the increase in their taxes. They become a pipeline for the government to suck your money through and at the same time have you feel better about it.

Only people have character. Governments not, although the illusion of having it is frequently promoted. They have no problem with making you feel better if it's profitable.

Now Bernie- is under the illusion that he could just tax the richest people and pay all the bills for everyone else. But that is something Bernie has tried to do all his life- find ways to avoid actual work by milking someone else's cow.

    Here's how it really works:

Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this…

The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing. The fifth would pay $1. The sixth would pay $3. The seventh would pay $7. The eighth would pay $12. The ninth would pay $18. The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.

So, that’s what they decided to do.

The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve ball. “Since you are all such good customers,” he said, “I’m going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by $20”. Drinks for the ten men would now cost just $80.

The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes. So the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free. But what about the other six men ? How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his fair share?

They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody’s share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up beingpaid to drink his beer.

So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man’s bill by a higher percentage the poorer he was, to follow the principle of the tax system they had been using, and he proceeded to work out the amounts he suggested that each should now pay.

And so the fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% saving). The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33% saving). The seventh now paid $5 instead of $7 (28% saving). The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% saving). The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% saving). The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% saving).

Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued to drink for free. But, once outside the bar, the men began to compare their savings.

“I only got a dollar out of the $20 saving,” declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man,”but he got $10!”

“Yeah, that’s right,” exclaimed the fifth man. “I only saved a dollar too. It’s unfair that he got ten times more benefit than me!” “That’s true!” shouted the seventh man. “Why should he get $10 back, when I got only $2? The wealthy get all the breaks!”

“Wait a minute,” yelled the first four men in unison, “we didn’t get anything at all. This new tax system exploits the poor!”

The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.

The next night the tenth man didn’t show up for drinks so the nine sat down and had their beers without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn’t have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill!

And that, boys and girls, journalists and government ministers, is how our tax system works. The people who already pay the highest taxes will naturally get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore. In fact, they might start drinking overseas, where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier.

David R. Kamerschen, Ph.D. — Professor of Economics.

This analogy has been around a while, but it's factual and realistic.
Bernie would beat up everyone already paying most of the bills....
Trying to make them pay all the bills.
And then, they would be gone.
    Bernie.... Is a fool.

I would disagree; I don't think they are that smart anymore. Used to be, but I think they have lost the Mojo, they are internally fragmented, disorientated and dysfunctional as a party. If Bernie gets nominated they will just tell themselves it will be different this time. If Trump were to pick his opponent, I'd say Bernie would be the choice.

Bernie's a person who knows how to rabble rouse- but he's not a person who has a history of accomplishments or knows how to make things happen. No real understanding of strategy, of economics, no vision of the future except that everything will be free in his world and someone else will pay for it. While a lot of people love the idea of free stuff- most of them know Bernie's vision is a BS pipe-dream; Ocean front property in Arizona kind of thing. If the dems do wind up there, I think you would see them lose solid blue states in a kind of chain reaction.

The Vegas odds-makers say there are no viable dem candidates, Trump has it.
While we are still 10 months out, those guys are usually more accurate than any of the polls.

And there you have it. Tulsi proved in her run that unless you are a radical leftist in most ways that count or a machine politician like Biden, you are not going to be allowed any real chance at the Party's nomination. The leftist-allied media outlets made that clear as they set up rule after rule designed by the DNC to progressively (Ha!) eliminate any candidate not pre-approved by the political inner circle. So now we have only increasingly senile Joe Biden, outright socialist Sanders and wacko Warren. It's as if the Dem Party is trying to lose.

Yes, I understand all the kewl kids refuse to take sides. There is a perception of superiority gained by bucking the system, rooting for the underdog, supporting the long shot. But in reality, we'll all decide between two candidates when it come times to vote. While you're waiting for the least objectional to surface, I'll have voted and gone on to other things. There is no advantage to sitting on the fence... except that you may see yourself as smarter than everybody else. In the end, it will all come out the same. #TRUMP2020

IMO, the impeachment farce was always primarily about giving the DP bosses a fail safe way to rig the primaries against Sanders.
