Seems like Europe may be headed for some really bad times in the near future.

There's a fear that the Russians won't turn the gas back on after scheduled maintenance but I suspect that this is just the tip of the iceberg. The farm protests indicate that the cost of meat and perhaps food in general is about to skyrocket in western Europe. Combined with people possibly not being allowed to heat their homes come winter, there's going to be millions of single African and Middle Eastern young men who've had their food and heat cut off in Europe some time soon. I highly doubt they will give a **** whether or not the "elites" try and blame Putin for what they're obviously 90% the cause of. Similarly, we might see the migrants being given more heating than what the natives are allowed to buy for themselves, which would probably not go over well.

This begs a question, namely, what is supposed to attract all of these migrants that the elites want entering the west if there is no food besides bugs and they're supposed to be freezing. One possible answer is that there is a plan to make sure that things are even worse in their home countries. I suspect that no aid is coming to Sri Lanka and that other countries will probably follow, resulting (in a long enough time frame) in entirely new migrant waves from entirely new places coming in. Eating bugs is probably better than eating nothing at all.

They immigrants were cheap labour in a minimum wage gig economy. The East Europeans finally twigged on began going home. They will now be replaced with Ukrainians. The show must go on. If you sanction a country (Russia) you can’t really expect it to do any favours in return. Come the autumn/winter I think we’re going to see things get a lot worse.

Eating bugs is already being tested in British schools.

The cheap labour that allowed the Brits to wallow in food to the extent that they threw much of it away without a thought, was stopped by Brexit and Covid.
Further, the government policy of "we'll take anyone but Europeans" is singularly pathetic. These people are skilled workers . The current crisis in air transport is a prime example.
Ukrainians are desperate to go home. The fit young men most able to do the most productive work are not in the UK. They are in Ukraine fighting for their own country.
Food shortages from domestic supplies? You can blame your stupid prideful ideologically blind government .

No food? Only bugs to eat? Not allowed to heat their homes? Migrants being given more heating than the natives?
Where does such idiocy come from? face palm

Without something to undergird your counterfactual theory, that one phrase, above, debunks your entire thread. Germany has already taken in more refugees, for humanitarian reasons, than it either "needed," or would have cared to take. All evidence suggests that France and even Scandinavian countries have reached their fill of immigrants, certainly for a while.

So if they keep allowing more to come in anyway, then will it be reasonable to suspect ulterior motives in play?

Europe keeps talking about how it wants to be "sustainable", but despite a progressive government, billions spent, and over 20 years of planning, it looks like Europe has not been able to break its addiction to natural gas.

All the more astounding since the northern parts of Europe that use the most gas as the most progressive and wealthiest parts of Europe, the ones most concerned about the environment and "sustainability".

This either shows that Left-leaning European governments are incompetent, or breaking reliance on natural gas is a lot harder, due to pragmatic engineering considerations, than much of the naive public assumes.

This is a false logic. Being dependant on an energy source doesn't indicate the kind of hive mind you suggest.
I could ask Americans about what their dépendance on oil tells about their political competency, especially when all research into energy is away from fossil fuels.
Nor does it have anything to do with left/right politics. Everyone is involved in the production and consumption of energy.

Who told you that? Northern countries use the least natural gas. You accuse them of being incompetent, but you didn't bother checking your claims.

The answer is a little complicated. I think consumption of natural gas is lower in Norway and Sweden because they have so much hydroelectric power.
Finland traditionally uses a lot of heating oil, and also still wood burning stoves are popular. The majority of the population in Denmark is very urbanized and uses centralised district heating, so they are able to make great strides in using recycled heat and burning biomass. Sweden also uses a lot of biomass in its city areas. 30% of electric power in Sweden is still produced from nuclear. 47% of houses in Poland use wood or coal to heat their homes.
The Netherlands and Belgium by far use the most gas in Europe.
    Italy 1,204
    United Kingdom 1,204
    Germany 1,165
    Ireland 1,012
    France 617
    Poland 525
    Spain 625
    Greece 465

No, its simple, contrary to what you said, - they don't use much natural gas at all. Finland has nuclear power and other sources.

The farmers protests are not a result of Russia. They are protesting the laws that restrict their business that were put in place by city people who have zero idea how to farm or what it takes to do so on a large scale.

It shows that this is a rich persons concern.

You're talking to clueless yanks whose knowledge regarding European politics can be summarized on the back of a stamp. I wouldn't waste my time waiting for any 'explanation'.
