Seems to me, a well regulated Militia needs assault weapons and not muzzle loaders. Even if there is a killing per week unfortunately it just goes with the territory. Freedoms always involve side effects that are not desirable. Alcohol drugs, cars, planes, whatever - their is death involved - it just goes with the territory.

Ban assault weapons and they will just pull out 2 or 3 auto pistols to kill the Innocent. Ban auto pistols and they will pull our 2 or 3 revolvers and a shotgun and so it goes down the ban list. Ban all guns and the insane will just switch to a different method of killing like poison or fire bombs. You can't ban mental illness, but our world has evolved to foster mental illness.

As our world decomposes, the greedy, rich and powerful will continue to squeeze the life out of the poor and middle class. People will be fed more and more poisonous food and live on an unhealthy diet. And no doubt more people will be going off the deep end and lashing out by killing others to build their own sick minded determination to commit suicide. It is a sad state of affairs, but it does not affect the 2nd Amendment provision for the self defense of our nation.

History has shown us what can happen to the defenseless citizens of a country...

CO Sheriff: “I Will Protect Constitutional Rights…With My Dying Breath”
January 8, 2013 - Sheriff Ronald B. Bruce has been the Sheriff of Hinsdale County in Colorado since his election in 2007. He contacted Freedom Outpost to let us know that he stands with Sheriff Scott Berry of Georgia and will not take his business to others who will discriminate against law abiding citizens in selling semi-automatic rifles, but stated unashamedly that with his dying breath he will protect current and existing Constitutional rights of those who elected him.

So go and get a militia.

Hitler cut back on gun control in the real world.

The more difficult a crime is to commit, the less frequently it is committed. Why make murder easy?

As for your attached image, you obviously need a history lesson...
Hitler never enacted gun control in Germany. Germany had enacted tough gun control laws in 1928, years before the Nazi rise to power. Instead of banning guns, Hitler instead expanded gun ownership for German citizens (he’d stripped the citizenship of undesirables already) to levels which one cannot even get inside of the United States. The 1938 German Weapons Act actually relaxed all gun ownership restrictions save on pistols. A German citizen could own a fully automatic weapon complete with grenade launcher, legally, under Nazi control. Why was Hitler comfortable doing this, when all common wisdom is that dictators eliminate gun ownership? Because Hitler ruled from a popular standpoint. He had little to fear from German Citizens, and for those who would stand against him, he made sure to strip away their citizenship, therefore their rights to firearms. This left him with a well armed nation who worshiped the ground he walked on. This is one of the reasons why the closing days of World War II were so bloody. The majority of German citizens, however, were untrained, so ineffective on the battlefield against the well trained Allied forces.
Hitler did discuss gun confiscation in 1942, but not against his own citizens, but against the people who he had conquered. He is quoted as saying:

"The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to permit the conquered Eastern peoples to have arms. History teaches that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by doing so. Indeed I would go so far as to say that the underdog is a sine qua non for the overthrow of any sovereignty. So let’s not have any native militia or police. German troops alone will bear the sole responsibility for the maintenance of law and order."

As for the gun control discussion in the United States, Obama has not discussed eliminating gun ownership. To the contrary, his policies so far have expanded gun ownership opportunities for law abiding US citizens. What is being discussed instead are restrictions on gun manufacturers and importers. The Assault Weapons Ban passed under President Clinton was just that, a regulation on the manufacture of weapons, not on ownership. The problem is, the gun manufacturers lobby, through their front group, the National Rifle Association, the gun manufacturers paint any form of restriction of the manufacture of weapons, any form of weapon, as something unpatriotic, an attempt to eliminate freedom, to enact a police state. This is nothing more than fear-mongering which, in my opinion, is tantamount to screaming "fire" in a crowded theatre.

Just because you have the ability to make a baby doesn't mean you're responsible enough to be a parent. Maybe we should mandate parenting licenses. Is that where you are going next?

I agree 100%, when the CONGRESS orders by act of CONGRESS to order mobilization of all Militia Volunteers they should provide uniforms, training and the needed modern weapons as need to serve their roles when assigned under FEDERAL deployment in the land and sea forces of the United States. And if a State sets up a Militia and appoints officers and arranges for arming and training then fine when deployed under the State authority structure should be properly armed as well.

An armed mob is unwanted and clearly not intended according to the US Constitutions Enumerated Powers so at other times you don't need military grade weapons.

If the 2nd only protects a collective right, as the anti-gun types argue, 'assault weapon' bans violate the constitution as it infringes upon the right of the state to arm it's militia.

When will they be sending me a gun and what kind will it be?
Will they send me the same firearm power factor that they will be sending my grandma?

    Indeed.
The power of Congress to arm the militia only extends as far as the 2nd allows; a Congressional limitation on the arms a state can choose for it's militia violates the constitution.
The right of the state militia to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed, see.

I live in England?! Since when?
Even if that were true (hint: it's not), my service in the USMC entitles me to at least as much of an opinion as you.

    - - - Updated - - -

Wrong. Almost all gun rights were stripped from ALL german citizens after WW1, and Hitler restored those rights to everyone except Jews. Big difference.
