Its against the law to practice medicine or law without a license. Its against the law to drive a motorized vehicle on the public roads without a license. Its against the law to sell prepared food without a license. These things require permission. Its not against the law to get married without a license. You don't need permission to get married. You need permission only for the license.

You don't have a legally recognized marriage without one.

I'm sure there are some(in the grand scheme of things) rare instances where you don't, but as a general rule, yes, you need a marriage license to have a legally recognized marriage.

If that wasn't the case, then the gay marriage fight was not needed.

It was needed in their view because it was the tax breaks and governmental entitlements of marriage that they were concerned with. Those require a license. They had always been free to marry anyone they like.

No... it used to be illegal to even be gay, or at least act upon it.

And yeah, I guess you have a "marriage", but it holds no legal claims.

The whole gay thing isn't settled yet. There is the matter of those trannies that the left took up with that needs to be settled. I suppose we'll all know much more after the USSC decides if American citizens can be forced bake cakes by fascist liberals or not. If not, the whole debate begins again, from the beginning...

You proclaim "no" but then don't contradict anything I said. And it used to be illegal for a man and a woman to engage in sexual relations outside of marriage. NO Such requirement was ever put upon gays.

Im afraid its only a matter of time before some court declares this practice of ours of segregating bathrooms between men and women, to be nothing more than a nefarious plot to "disparage and injure" trannies and therefore unconstitutional.

I wouldn't be surprised, but the whole tranny thing didn't fly too well with the general public, certainly not well with the states that put Trump in the WH. It will have to come up again. I wonder what liberals will do when it does? Maybe impeaching Trump is a good idea, Pence would handle the whole gay thing far more suitably and Pence would put good conservatives on the bench. Not that I think Trump will be impeached, but liberals have been promising us that since before his inauguration...

I am glad to see the republican party moving forward. Progressivism can not only be a democratic trait.

I kind of agree. Some years, my wife were better of filing jointly, others separately.

The income tax advantage is for couples where one is the primary source of income and the other with minimal income and primarily caring for the children. And in the DOMA case, Windsor saved $363,000 in estate taxes
