This CBO report wasn't unexpected. It's pretty similar to the House Bill.

From what I've read about the bill so far, this will be a disaster. It will get the GOP tossed right out of power and wreck healthcare even more than Obamacare already did.

You can get care for something like a broken arm in an emergency room - but in cases like cancer, you are out of luck.
It is incredible that people will die to provide a tax cut for the wealthy.
    Despicable.

And we will then be back in the Old Death Spiral rather than the New Death Spiral.

Only way to even remotely get these ****** Republicans in the Senate to draft something decent would be if they were FORCED to be on the same plan they are drafting for everyone.

You don't even have to have this bill signed...the damage and instability of the health markets is already critical thanks to Trump and the GOP.

The GOP is a terrorist group...of that there is no longer any doubt. They are begging for people to build up massive resentment and hatred for them. I have no pity for whatever befalls any of them. The masses will storm The Bastille when they reach a breaking point so it's no wonder that the culprits want to expand the military industrial complex...to protect them from the very people they are supposed to represent and are actually screwing so that they can serve their corporate puppet masters.

Which is why it is SMARTER and more economical to provide the preventive care in the first place.

They won't because they wouldn't be able to afford it. They will just not have healthcare and if they get sick they will either not get treatment or they will go bankrupt and they will get free healthcare paid by us.

In addition, there is no cheap heath care...we all pay for it, one way or another. You would rather just keep the costs hidden to make you feel better about yourself.

    Oh really?

I have never been a fan of letting people die because they didn't have enough money.

Apparently, the GOP is a fan of Social Darwinism?

Then by that reasoning we should disband Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, and Veterans Benefits. You on board?

ROFL! With Obamacare... it's like being uninsured already.

Let's nuke it and bring back competition. You know, freedom to actually choose. I forgot, Liberals don't like people being responsible and being able to choose on their own.

    Yes, specifically the richest taxpayers.

But my point is that taxpayers pay for healthcare all the time. When someone goes to the emergency room and is unable to pay, the hospital gets a tax write off for those services (and taxpayers cover that write off).

Obamacare is designed to get the wealthiest to pay a smaller amount of total taxes up front so that those people can get cheager preventative care in order to keep the larger cost of everyone paying for uncovered emergency care lower.

What, you're trying to tell me removing a mole on your arm is cheaper than treating full-blown terminal skin cancer a few years later?

    Don't tell the republicans...

That was part of the underlying problem.

Removing that dam mole costs $1000 + and is under the deductible. Most People were still skipping the procedure because of cost.

Fix it with co-pays and the doctor will bleed the insurance carrier dry by milking it out over 3 visits.

It is also incredible that middle-class people could die to provide medical insurance for the poor. "Despicable".

There are middle-class people choosing to forgo insurance because of the cost, or choosing not to use it because of the high deductibles -- and yet these same people are still paying taxes to give health insurance to the poor. Is that fair? (No.)

I genuinely wonder which costs the taxpayers more -- free healthcare when the uninsured show up in the emergency room, or free insurance when the taxpayers have to pay for their Obamacare.

At least in the first scenario all of the taxpayer money goes directly towards health care. In the second scenario our taxpayer money goes towards insurance, which they may or may not even need or use.

Medicaid is "welfare", those other programs are earned either by paying into them (Medicare and Social Security) or by serving our country (veterans benefits).

It's insulting (and inaccurate) to lump recipients of Medicare, Social Security and veterans benefits in with Medicaid/"welfare".

I'd be fine with repeal (and not replace.) Obamacare was just one more giant wealth redistribution scheme that screwed the middle class. But once you start giving people something for free, good luck ever cutting them off from it....
