Within Americanized subsets, all bets are off, imho. Those that are the most ardent about Not going down there are perhaps the ones going down there the most, lol... :)

Mainstream? Maybe for young people. Most people my age and even younger have no idea what's going on out there.

The first time I got a chance, I was drawn like a moth to a flame. All I got was a mouth full of hair but it was a start. :D

Just about all active young women shave now. At first it sort of freaked me out. I was already pushing my limits being with women so young. But I quickly adjusted.

Western society has some parallels with Krueng's tribal ideals, albeit perhaps not so much, the marriage part. What think you - on this Cambodian tribal practice - emboldening female empowerment; in the pursuit of love, marriage and family?

I think you missed out on the joy of family. Kids make life worth living.

    But just my opinion

I dunno, an 'alcoholic drink and a centipede' sounds awfully similar to a 'gusano moth larvae' at the bottom of my 'Jose Quervos' bottle...
Perhaps I should shun all 'ETOH' drinks and get pregnant, lol... :) ... what say U

I am the father of four children. It is unfortunate for the world that my wife was the last decent women on earth. But it was me who married her and all that's left for you are silly-cone, botoxed, nip & tucked, plastic finger-nailed, cheap eyelash-extended, high-heeled, tattooed, self-centered, materialistic, chatterbox bimbos ..... or a blow-up dolly. As a consequence, you're screwed ...... strictly by self-inducement.

I'm glad I never had kids. My father didn't really like being a father and we all knew it. I have often suspected that I might be the same. In fact, I'm far worse than my dad because I tend to get highly focuses on my professional pursuits for weeks and even months at a time. That is one reason we never had kids. There was NEVER a time when we WANTED kids. If you really don't want kids, then you probably shouldn't have kids, don't you think?

I am also reminded of my buddy, who calls from time to time to tell me I'm a freaking genius! Why do you say that, I have asked. Because you DIDN'T have kids, he replied. They suck the life out of you, he continued.

I know that a lot of people live for their kids. I don't think I was ever meant to be one of them. What happened to me was that I lost everyone and everything that mattered to me. Consider someone who has a wife and kids and they all die in a car accident. That is much the same place where I was. What has happened since then has been amazing.

I've experienced more love, joy, and ecstasy, than I thought possible.

I've had 120 coffee dates and I might have met one or two women like that. Speak not of that which you know nothing about. ;) I have met a lot of wonderful, smart, driven, kind, compassionate, AMAZING women.

Some people never get comfortable with sex or their own sexuality. Americans especially have been highly repressed due to religion and even Victorian morality. The culture was infested with very unhealthy and repressive beliefs and traditions. But the internet has helped to bring the true human condition out of the closet. We are all sexual beings. And guess what. Everyone masturbates!

Sex is a part of life. Sex is beautiful. It should be cherished as one of the best parts of life, not as a horrible or embarrassing thing that should be hidden away like a crime.

You know what is pathetic, a lot of people still can't talk to their kids about sex without being uncomfortable. Sex is the essence of life but people can hardly even talk about it. THAT is a sickness.

Before marrying, I had sex with a fair number of women. Then, never cheated on my wife, But since divorcing, I have had sex with a lot of women. One of the most striking aspects of this experience has been how much sexual chemistry is something unique. You can really like someone, or maybe have nothing in common at all, but have a great time in bed. You can really like someone but have horrible sexual chemistry.

I was struck by one experience most of all. I met a women for coffee, lunch, and then dinner, and then had sex on the third date. Up until the moment we got into bed, everything was great. We had been having a very nice time together. But then it was like a wall went up. We had the worst sexual chemistry I've ever experienced. Almost immediately, I felt like I didn't want to be there. It was actually a little repulsive. It wasn't that she looked bad or smelled bad or was sleazy, or anything like that. My best guess is that it has something to do with skin. It was like the moment we took off our clothes and engaged each other, we were affected by physical chemistry - I mean actual chemistry. It was undeniable. And I could tell that she felt much the same way. We got it over with as quickly as possible. She left. And we never spoke again. So strange!

This has convinced me that you can't know if you are great together if you don't have sex together. And having different sexual experiences helps you to know what you really want; what really makes you happy. So I think this culture is simply recognizing the nature of sex and relationships. If you want a great marriage, be sure you have a great sex life first. And in order to know if you have a great sex life, you need breadth of experience.

Drugs are not the way, son.
It is a sad thing to be glad about something you've never experienced.
Well, I am 72, I have travelled around the world overland, lived and worked several of the near-100 countries I've been to, I have had more relationships than you can shake a stick at, I am a war veteran, I stay away from drugs, I have had 4 children, and my wife is better than any woman on this earth. All of that means that I know a lot more about those things than you.

I am glad you are happy I am too. But a little food for thought. Find the best people from any field. Science, sports, business.....etc. what do 99 percent of them have in common. They had kids. Usually more than one. That's not because they are stupid.

It's because kids are that great

    Dr. Frank Tallis, clinical psychologist

    (exerpt)

"Since the dawn of civilisation, poets have described love as a kind of madness – and historically, the medical profession has endorsed a similar view. According to the principles of Hippocratic medicine passionate love almost invariably turns into ‘love melancholy’ – a form of depression. Moreover, anybody who has experienced falling in love, will know something of love’s madness- an emotional roller coaster that seems to carry the occupant between the two extremes of heaven and hell."

    also:

"Science is beginning to pay more attention to the chemical storm that romantic love can trigger in our brains. Recent studies of brain scans show that being in love causes changes in the brain that are strikingly similar to serious health problems like drug addiction and obsessive-compulsive disorder."

"But any link between love and matrimony is relatively recent, said Stephanie Coontz, who teaches history and family studies at the Evergreen State College in Olympia, Wash.

And a radical one at that.

“Through most of human history, love was not at all the point of marriage,” Coontz said. “Marriage was about getting families together, which was why there were so many controls.”

The notion that a couple would marry for love was considered almost anti-social, even subversive; parents could disown their kids for doing it.

“The Greeks thought lovesickness was a type of insanity, a view that was adopted by medieval commentators in Europe. In the Middle Ages, the French defined love as a ‘derangement of the mind’ that could be cured by sexual intercourse, either with the loved one or with a different partner,” Coontz writes in her 2005 book, “Marriage, A History: From Obedience to Intimacy, or How Love Conquered Marriage.” "
