He is very old.....he did serve 37 years........his health is failing............On one side of this issue I do understand why police officers and FBI agents all over North America would feel that his release would be like a slap in the face.......but......

Having read two books on the research of Helen Wambach Ph. D. as well as others on the same topic I do feel that Mr. Leonard Peltier is in a place where he could choose to use the rest of his life to teach thousands or even millions of us to come to a new level of understanding that can greatly reduce our tendency to get into conflicts!

Dr. Helen Wambach (Ph.D.) was one of the earliest scientific researchers into past lives and reincaration. She was the author of Reliving Past Lives and Life Before Life (both published in 1978 by Bantam paperback books). The updated Reliving Past Lives: The Evidence Under Hypnosis was published in 1984. Mass Dreams of the Future was published by Chet Snow in 1993 after her death was based on her research.

Initially motivated by a desire to debunk reincarnation, beginning in the mid-1960s, Helen Wambach conducted a 10-year survey of past-life recalls under hypnosis among 1,088 subjects. She asked very specific questions about the time periods in which people lived and the clothing, footwear, utensils, money, housing, etc. which they used or came in contact with. Wambach concluded found peoples' recollections to be amazingly accurate and wrote that ''fantasy and genetic memory could not account for the patterns that emerged in the results. With the exception of 11 subjects, all descriptions of clothing, footwear, and utensils were consistent with historical records.''
Victor Zammit describes Wambach's research thus:

By doing a scientific analysis on the past lives reported by her 10,000 plus volunteers she came up with some startling evidence in favor of reincarnation:

• 50.6 % of the past lives reported were male and 49.4 % were female — this is exactly in accordance with biological fact.

• The number of people reporting upper class or comfortable lives was in exactly the same proportion to the estimates of historians of the class distribution of the period.

• The recall by subjects of clothing, footwear, type of food and utensils used was better than that in popular history books. She found over and over again that her subjects knew better than most historians — when she went to obscure experts her subjects were invariably correct.

In Life Before Life Dr. Wambach described the results of hypnotizing another 750 people and taking them to the time between their past and current lives. One of her most controversial findings was that people have some choice in their current lives and that the disembodied consciousness or soul does not enter the body until near birth. "The soul usually enters the body near birth, and has a choice of which fetus to enter. If one fetus is aborted, it is possible to choose another. In some cases, the soul who will occupy the fetus, is in contact with the soul of the mother, and can influence her decision regarding abortion."

I personally believe that this assessment of the question of the release of Mr. Leonard Peltier by Elder Lloyd Fournier is wise and the most ethical decision under these circumstances:

The Constitution of the United States (Eighth Amendment -1791) dictates that punishment should not be harsh or unreasonable. Moreover, the President of United States of America in his oath of office has promised to "uphold and defend" the Constitution. Thrity seven years is enough. Peltier is the world's longest serving political prisoner. That fact is supported (as is clemency) by Amnesty Internatinal. Moreover, Nelson Mandela (himself a former political prisoner) and various European parliaments have pleaded for Clemency for Peltier.

Peltier is old and unwell and ought tobe able to spend his remaining days with with children and grandchildren. There was an old lady, from the "Cree" tribe, named"Eyes of Fire", who prophesied that one day, because of the white mans' or Yo-ne-gis' greed, there would come a time, when the fish would die in the streams, the birds would fall from the air, the waters would be blackened, and the trees would no longer be, mankind as we would know it would all but cease to exist.

"THE WARRIORS OF THE RAINBOW" would show the peoples that this "Ancient Being" (the Great Spirit), is full of love and understanding, and teach them how to make the "Earth or Elohi" beautiful again. These Warriors would give the people principles or rules to follow to make their path right with the world. These principles would be those of the Ancient Tribes. The "THE WARRIORS OF THE RAINBOW" would teach the people of the ancient practices of Unity, Love and Understanding. They would teach of Harmony among people in all four comers of the Earth.

Like the Ancient Tribes, they would teach the peoples how to pray to the Great Spirit with love that flows like the beautiful mountain stream, and flows along the path to the ocean of life. Once again, they would be able to feel joy in solitude and in councils. They would be free of petty jealousies and love all mankind as their brothers, regardless of color, race or religion. They would feel happiness enter their hearts, and become as one with the entire human race. Their hearts would be pure and radiate warmth, understanding and respect for all mankind, Nature, and the Great Spirit. They would once again fill their minds, hearts, souls, and deeds with the purest of thoughts. They would seek the beauty of the Master of Life - the Great Spirit! They would find strength and beauty in prayer and the solitudes of life.

Their children would once again be able to run free and enjoy the treasures of Nature and Mother Earth. Free from the fears of toxins and destruction, wrought by the Yo-ne-gi and his practices of greed. The rivers would again run clear, the forests be abundant and beautiful, the animals and birds would be replenished. The powers of the plants and animals would again be respected and conservation of all that is beautiful would become a way of life.

The poor, sick and needy would be cared for by their brothers and sisters of the Earth. These practices would again become a part of their daily lives. The leaders of the people would be chosen in the old way - not by their political party, or who could speak the loudest, boast the most, or by name calling or mud slinging, but by those whose actions spoke the loudest. Those who demonstrated their love, wisdom, and courage and those who showed that they could and did work for the good of all, would be chosen as the leaders or Chiefs. They would be chosen by their "quality" and not the amount of money they had obtained. Like the thoughtful and devoted "Ancient Chiefs", they would understand the people with love, and see that their young were educated with the love and wisdom of their surroundings. They would show them that miracles can be accomplished to heal this world of its ills, and restore it to health and beauty.

The tasks of these"WARRIORS OF THE RAINBOW" are many and great. There will be terrifying mountains of ignorance to conquer and they shall find prejudice and hatred. They must be dedicated, unwavering in their strength, and strong of heart. They will find willing hearts and minds that will follow them on this road of returning "Mother Earth" to beauty and plenty - once more.

The day will come, it is not far away. The day that we shall see how we owe our very existence to the people of all tribes "THE WARRIORS OF THE RAINBOW" that have maintained their culture and heritage. Those that have kept the rituals, stories, legends, and myths alive. It will be with this knowledge, the knowledge that they have preserved, that we shall once again return to "harmony" with Nature, Mother Earth, and mankind. It is a rather heavy thing when people from one ethnic group somehow connect with what seems to be subconscious memories of a lifetime in a totally different ethnic group. Near death experiencer Bruce Fraser MacDonald Ph. D. remembered a lifetime when he was Jewish:

I went to a hypnotherapist back around '92 or '93 to see if I could be regressed and see some of what Helen Wambach Ph. D. wrote about but as I felt the trance state coming on I got scared and could not go into a trance!

The Wikipedia article does leave me with the impression that he might be guilty......A friend of mine who is far more informed on this case than I am, (and whose opinion I respect), is doubtful if Wikipedia is entirely accurate on his case. I don't know enough to comment on his guilt or innocence but it does seem obvious that the evidence was not handled in a good way which is an important factor!

My personal reason for being interested in the case is that I believe that if, for example, an Israel settler who may have been convicted of killing a Palestinian were to volunteer to be hypnotized and regressed for two, four, six, eight, ten, twelve centuries, this Israeli Jew would probably see past lives in which he was a member of a variety of racial and ethnic groups. He would probably see himself as Islamic in a past life and this type of research can lead to a shift in how all of us view our ideological opponents???!!!

While they might have got the right guy and probably did, this list of anomalies, errors, and inconsistencies implies that the FBI decided who did it first, and "supported" this afterward, so it didn't matter if they got it right or wrong.

Wouldn't much matter to me one way or the other what they do with him, since it's basically already been done.

It is kind of amazing how many people around the world are very interested in this situation. It seems to me that proving that the USA constitution is taken seriously is one important aspect of this question!

My Family and Friends. I hope you are comfortable and that you are all healthy and happy. For those of you who walked today, I imagine the sun gave you a little more color and I am proud of all of you. You know if I were out, I would have been walking with you, leading the charge, of course.

In my mind, I am right there with you. I can smell the burning sage and sweetgrass intermingled with the smells from the boxes of frybread and the big pans of potato salad. The “unci’s” are sitting on chairs in the shade, probably teasing each other and laughing, like only you can. I see all of you sitting on the blankets under the shade on the hard dry ground, trying to find a way to be comfortable. I can look over to where the old campsite was and spot the place where the guys would cut the wood, and the place where the gardens were.

A sadness comes over me as I see the foundation, where the homestead of Grama and grandpa Jumping Bull once stood. I remember the kids running around and playing, carefree and happy. At times it seems like it was a long time ago and other times, it feels like it was yesterday. Sometimes when I’m alone, I wonder why life has to be so hard for our people. It’s puzzling that some of our own people will turn against us. Is it money? Power? Greed? We were here because we were asked to be here, to stand as protection to the traditional families who continue to follow the original instructions as handed down to us from generation to generation in the form of our Creation stories. I am told there is now an investigation being implemented for the murder of the sixty some people killed during that reign of terror. It’s an outrage that it took over 40 years to discover that a bullet hole in the back doesn’t sound like death by natural cause. We were there also, to protect the land from being raped by the government for uranium. We have evidence of the chemical dumps placed on our land without the knowledge or consent of our members and the leaking of radiation 5 times the safe level, polluting the veins of our mother earth and turning our secred water into a poison that would cause our child bearing women to abort their unborn babies and cancer replacing natural cause on the death certificates of many of our people. I am not trying to make this a gloom and doom message. I am only trying to give an understanding to some of our young people that we need to continue to protect all that is sacred to us, our Elders, our women and our children, our culture and way of life and each other.

I am always asked about an update on what is going on with me and I will try to explain. As my team can tell you, my blood pressure is high, my diabetes is out of control to the point of causing problems to my sight and I have a lot of pain in walking. My medication has been withheld for several months and doctor appointments are a rare occurance. I have been tested for prostate cancer and although I was never given any clear answer of whether or not cancer exists, the symptons indicate there is definitely something wrong. The recent problems with shortness of breath and chest pains are causing me additional stress. I assure you, this is not the place to be sick or to have health problems because in prison, we are just another number. It’s just a good thing I don’t need to take medication to keep a sense of humor or I would definitely be screwed! Additionally, I was approved by my counselors inside, for a transfer to a medium security prison closer to home but the transfer was denied from the office in Texas, without a reason. Although the denial was appealed, who knows how long that will take to be reviewed.

In closing, I want to say “pilamiyeya” to all of you for your hard work. I know this is a great undertaking to organize an event. It humbles me to know that you are taking the time to remember not only me, but all of the warriors who are attempting to take the HIS STORY out of history, by standing up and telling OUR story. I stand with you in support of recognizing our inherent rights,our truth seekers and our sacred way of life. To those of you preparing to Sundance, I hope you will feel me dancing next to you, in the Inipi, I am there taking in the steam and singing with you. But as you can guess, I am getting tired. I just want to be home with my people. Dear Mr. Leonard Peltier: Back around 1989 I began to worry that my world view was seriously flawed and I prayed to the Great Spirit/The God of Abraham to give me wisdom. The past 24 years were kind of rough as gaps in my understanding were filled in.

Based on the massive psychological studies conducted by Dr. Ian Stevenson, Helen Wambach Ph. D. and others, I believe that you Sir are my great, great, great, great....grandson from one or more of my probable past lives? This is quite a stretch for a guy who was once convinced of "soul sleep" as taught by Garner Ted?

Leonard, you have my humble apologies for all my errors and sins and flaws from all those many probable past lives of mine where I almost certainly could have done something to make the world a much better place....but I failed.

I guess the least that I can do is say that I am truly sorry....and I am trying to improve.

The legal questions listed in Wikipedia are kind of depressing. While they might have got the right guy and probably did, this list of anomalies, errors, and inconsistencies implies that the FBI decided who did it first, and "supported" this afterward, so it didn't matter if they got it right or wrong.

Yep, just like the Boston Bombings and the assassination of the witness by the FBI. I'm sure Mr. Peltier got very similar treatment. At least he got to go to jail and didn't get shot in the back of the head.

Yes. I've studied his case for years and is one of the reasons why I went into my particular practice area. People should try avoiding the websites of people with a dog in the fight and actually look at the discovery in the case for themselves and all of the court transcripts.
