I know there are many gun control proponents here who would like to place all sorts of restrictions and regulations on guns in the U.S. However, do we really need all those restrictions on every gun? Why not put single-shot rifles into a completely separate category? America has a long tradition of single-shot rifles, and I just think it's completely ridiculous to have all these restrictions on them. On some level it's insulting and denigrating to the idea of freedom. It's the very principle of the thing. Just the very concept that free citizens could be allowed to have a gun, without all these controls - even if it's only a certain category of gun - shows that the people are not living under one gigantic prison. I personally don't think it's unreasonable for a 15-year old to go off with a rifle into the forest, in very rural areas, though it depends on the boy and the specific situation. I know many of you have arguments for why guns should have all these restrictions on them, but I just think it's ridiculous for all those restrictions you propose to apply to single-shot rifles.
