I started the application process for a VA land loan. I'm looking at a 5 1/2 acres just outside of an East TX town of 5000.

Well that was interesting. Last night at work at 2:20 a.m. four young kids came in ranging from probably late teens to mid-20s.

As many of you probably know I work at the gas station by myself from midnight to 6:00 a.m.

One of them comes up to the register to purchase something and drops a gun out of his pants onto the floor.

There was no way you could miss the sound of a pistol hitting a hard floor. He sheepishly tries to pick it back up as though I may not see it.

    I asked him, " it's pretty heavy ain't it " ?

He just nods his head and he and two of the other four left the store. The final individual made a small purchase and then left the store. He did not point it at me or threaten me but I wondered if I was going to be robbed. Maybe they planned on robbing me but we're too embarrassed?

So I considered it for about 10 minutes and then I called the law. Cuz I know there's no way this kid was permitted to carry and there's no way these four running around at 2:20 a.m. with a gun are up to anything but no good.

So I told the cops what happened and they went to look for them. If they found them I suppose they'll let me know about it at some point in the future when they come back in the store as these two cops are regular customers.

That is a prime example of people who should not be carrying guns. Probably have very little clue about how to safely use one and they certainly don't know what the hell the holster is because he was carrying gangster style in his pants.

And the damn thing could have went off hitting the ground like that. But anyhow he is clearly on camera. Just got off the phone with the boss and told him the police would probably be in contact today because I told the police I don't know how to roll the cameras back they'd have to get with the boss. Told them what time it happened and what camera number.

The boss told me he would put it on a disc and forward it to the police department

    Thank you.

I don't carry a gun but I do carry a tactical folding knife that I can access and operate with one hand with one finger very quickly. It's not quite as good as a gun but it's better than nothing. I usually carry it as naturally as I would put my car keys in my pocket.

Last night when I got to work I realized one of the first things I did not have was my knife. If someone robs me I will assume they mean to kill me and if I have a chance I will do what needs to be done or die trying.

I saw the butt of the gun as he was trying to conceal it and it will clearly be on camera.

I hope they get them off the streets. This is a small town and not much violence usually occurs but sometime ago another store was robbed and somebody shot the clerk in the head even though he had gave him the money. So I will simply assume they mean to kill me if they stick a gun in my face.

I am soon looking to get a job with the city doing water treatment. I figure no one wants to rob the people at the water treatment plant.

In the UK virtually all night garages have locked doors and you do business through a small hatch. You order what you came for, pay through the hatch and the contents are slid through to you. As regards fuel, you tell them how much you want, pay for it and the cashier sets the pump to deliver the correct amount. Robbery in service stations is virtually unknown here and everything is recorded on CCTV.

Some stations are like that around here but generally only in the most crime ridden areas.

Me and my boss watched it on camera this morning. You can clearly see the idiot drop the gun on the floor from the camera angle. Two of his buddies get pretty nervous and left out of there real quick.

My boss put that section of film onto a thumb drive and it will be delivered to the police today.

There's nothing illegal about concealing a gun as long as you have a permit and you're not a felon. But I know these four kids certainly had no permit and the and possibly too young to have the gun and probably the gun was stolen to boot.

And then being out at 2:20 a.m. towing a pistol you know they're up to no good. Whether they intended to rob me and get cold feet or they were out casing something else they were certainly up to no good

On the border here,, keep a .357 under the desk and carry a .380 pocket pistol. I also carry bottled drinking water, a fire extinguisher and a first aid kit.. hope to never need to use any of them.

Build a barndominium. The county requires that I have 5 acres for an agricultural tax exemption to lower my property taxes. I plan to keep bees to earn the exemption. I will install solar panels and possibly do rainwater collection.

Probably not in Fl. Probably would be reason to rob someone at a water treatment plant in CA. LOL

    Glad you are OK.

The rain was all around us but not on our land except a sprinkle. We did enjoy the cool weather even without a lot of rain. We are supposed to be getting more rain I hope it is more than we received a few days ago. Fingers crossed.

Anyone else ever done this? I was thinking about going up to the car wash to vacuum out my minivan.... But then I thought about it.....

Drive four or five miles each way.... Spend my quarters.... In a hot parking lot in the blazing Florida sun, with zero shade, sweating my ass off.....

Then I thought about it some more. So I just opened all of my doors and the back hatch and took all of the trash out that I did not want to blow all over my lawn and took an electric leaf blower and blew all the crap out. having had to drive nowhere, in the comfort of my own yard under the shade of some oak trees. With a cold beer to celebrate my victory.

That's kind of the opposite of vacuuming but it works just fine

We are fully in the wet season here now. We had a stretch earlier in the year of maybe up to 30 days with no rain.

But this time of year you get rain almost every single afternoon. Usually a brief 30 minute thunderstorm.

But you have to lug them around and empty the contents. I already had the electric leaf blower. The leaf blower is considerably lighter and easier to maneuver

I like to use what I have. For instance.... The boss man has a little hamburger stand that he has set up on the neighboring property. the employees using it will go and mop the greasy floor with our store mop bucket and then they will not clean it out so after about two nights of this I had a solution.

You see in the past I rescued a couple of mop heads that were going to the trash, and I stash those where other employees won't find them.... It's easy you just hide your cleaning supplies where no one ever cleans....

So now I have two mop heads that no one else knows of and I use those to mop the floor and I leave the greasy bucket and mop head to the other employees. When I leave here at 6:00 a.m. the floor will be sparkling clean.

When I look at things I don't say to myself what is that I say what can that be?
