Some people do have a reaction from eating the chicken of the woods . Some of the articles I have read warn people to eat a small portion to see if it agrees with them. A mushroom could be like any food allergy.

I buy whole bean Eight O Clock coffee and grind it myself. Sometimes Publix has a BOGO on it and I buy the limit.

At one time I would roast my own coffee but now it is Eight O Clock coffee or Dunkin whole bean coffee. Got a bit lazy on roasting coffee.

Real or poisonous. They look very similar to Chanterelles. I haven't been sure enough to eat them. In the late spring after a rain they can be found near oaks.

There are old mycologist and bold mycologist but there are no old and bold mycologist. If in any doubt, do not consume.

I will be getting ready for church here in a bit. It will be nice to see brothers and sisters. The church is not the building, the church is my brothers and sisters in Christ and wherever they are that is my church.

I have some of the same wife interactions. She keeps close watch on my diet since my transplant surgery, especially coffee.

BTW I've now found my new favorite coffee for drinking black, Volcanica Tanzanian Peaberry.

20230319_183612.jpg Some of the thrift I planted last year in the back and the stuff in the front is a couple years old. I am hoping to make this area all thrift so it looks like one big bloom. I am also hoping the stuff in the background will grow together. I planted the stuff with cell packs of rooted cuttings. Believe it or not there are several thousand clones there at least. Still got several hundred in cell packs left over from fall. Also got some candy stripe coming along.

There are also daffodils thrown in among the thrift. I want the area to be maintanance free. Still got another year of cuttings to set out looks like. I have other places for thrift too. Maybe another color. Buy a pot and start taking cuttings.

I made a pot of the strongest coffee in the world, it was extremely diuretic! I shall go back to thinning it with my regular brew.

mountains are just so hard to take good pictures of. They necessitate a good painting.

    Not bold at all.
I have a lot of respect for things growing wild and they should be respected before they are replaced with macadam.

I do get it. Whenever we go to the mountains, we try. It's so hard to capture. Went 11,000 feet in Colorado in December. It was breathtaking

No, I have not. The thrift in the picture has quite a history. When I first moved in here I found a scrawny little plant about 6 inches long but blooming. I dug it up and potted it. It grew well and I took cuttings. For a couple years I grew thrift in gallon pots and sold it. This scrawny little plant is now growing everywhere around here. Never saw no seeds.

Caught my wife cheating on me... yippers, there it was, an empty candy bar wrapper, and a Mounds at that! Couldn't even do it with a good candy bar, like a Snickers or Mars bar! At least when I cheat, I push the evidence to the bottom of the trash can and cover it up (or at least I do now, having been busted a couple of times)

If you do a 72 count tray everyday for 30 days the first tray will be rooted when the last tray is filled. Then plant a tray a day and take 72 cuttings the same day. In 30 days you will have planted over 2000 plants every 30 days till fall.

I know what you mean. I spent six years in the navy drinking some of the strongest most vile coffee in the world. But you know what, I got used to it and it kept me awake while on watch. Now I love black coffee but have to cut it sometimes with something smoother. Every time I try a new supplier I have to find the right combination.

That was just a term I had read and old mycophage make.

I'm an old hippie that has hunted and consumed psilocybin mushrooms for years.

I once told some people visiting from Indiana that were seeking psilocybin mushrooms that if it does not grow directly in cow dung and stain blue almost immediately after cutting her bruising the flesh not to eat it.

They disregarded that advice and ate some comments large lawn mushrooms and they were extremely ill for 3 days. Fortunately for them It just made for a miserable 3 days and did not result in any permanent kidney or liver damage.

They were camping on the river once here and they bought me about 30 different species of mushrooms to look at asking me if any of them were the sought after psilocybin. I told them I do not know what any of those are but I do know that none of those are psilocybin and I recommend that you do not eat any of them.

I no longer have any interest in consuming psilocybin but I still love to see them in their natural habitat and I find all forms of mushrooms fascinating.

I love magic mushrooms! There's a podcast that had an episode on fungi. Without them, trees wouldn't exist. They create an underground network that connects all the trees together, which helps the trees thrive.
