I always like seeing celebrities risk their careers to speak out against the cancerous progressive radicalism that has complete and utter control over the entertainment industry.

It surprises me every time they do it because they are literally putting their careers on the line, and they usually always suffer for it.

But I was even more surprised to see that Baldwin actually agrees.

However I don't believe Baldwin is having some sort of "maybe we're taking things too far" moment.

I think hes just merely so confident in his hate and in his position dispensing it that he sees no reason not to agree with Rob about the role he plays.

This is surprising to me because normally these types of people deny the things that they are when others describe them yet are proud of the things they are when they get to define them.

The Dems offer nothing but hate.

It's a zombie party; it thinks it's alive but in reality it's dead.

    What would that be?
What kind are you? There is no doubt that you would
It would seem to be human nature
I enjoy SNL's Trump parody but I would agree that sometimes they go to far. I like it for the comedic element on most occasions. I don't agree that comedy has to "push the envelope". Funny is funny. When you go too far, you can't go back and it becomes acceptable which doesn't necessarily improve the human condition. It becomes just rude on a lot of occasions.

    Predictability is boring.

Commies are nothing if not boring.

'We want more free stuff. We hate everyone who threatens what we want.'

    Boring.

Looks like just another example of the American disease of blinkered binary politics. Anyone who attacks Trump must be “left wing”, “liberal” Democrats while anyone who supports him must be “right wing”, “conservative” Republicans. This is why so many Americans seem to get confused and angry when faced with anyone who isn’t unconditionally pro- or anti-… well, anything really. I feel sorry for them mostly. It must be scary when there are only two types of human being in your world and your suddenly confronted with someone who doesn’t fit in to your pigeon holes. It must be like meeting someone with six legs or green skin. :)

Haven't watched SNL in years but don't they pretty much do a skit about Trump every week? They used to be funny as hell but their hate for Trump is obvious.

Yep and it's funny as hell every week. Isn't about hate, they have found a niche on comedy when it comes to Trump.

Making fun of Trump equals ratings. Add to that the fact that Comedians in general have a liberal bend, with SNL being the comedic institution that it is means your going to get a lot of anti-trump stuff.

That said, Rob has a point, in that constantly going for the low hanging fruit (while commercially viable) is creatively short-sighted

Have to respectfully disagree... not every Trump sketch is funny as hell... some have been, some are pretty good, but some are pretty slow.. like all comedy, it's hit and miss (ask Michelle Wolf)... but SNL remains the one place left willing to try non-newsy political humor, so good for them.

Baldwin is doing it because its a role he can actually get someone to watch.

As for late night comedy, well its not actually funny anymore as the OP says, unless you are a liberal.

    Its just conservative bashing non-stop.

Complete waste of time. Bashing conservatives then interviewing a liberal elitist "celebrity" who then also bashes conservatives.

Eh, he does have a point. If you do the exact same kind of jokes over and over it does tend to get predictable and suck the fun out of it.

At the same time, I think Rob Schneider would know personally since I struggle to remember the last time he was funny.

Except Schneider ISN'T "risking his career".

Rob Schneider is a has-been, who hasn't done anything remotely interesting since the 1990s.

Spewing this RW BS gets his name in the news.

    Rob Schneider? :roflol:

    Wow,

This is not new territory for SNL. Not even close.

Akroyd as Jimmy Carter and Richard Nixon

Chevy Chase as Ford answering a glass of water.

    Hartman as Reagan

Dana Carver as H. W. Bush

Hartman’s Clinton engaging in gluttony in McDonalds?

I have never known a more thin skinned group of people in my life.

Will Ferrell’s George W was especially cruel.

Yup. Then Obama came into office and that all changed. I can remember one where they chided him(executive orders ) but otherwise, he was the “cool president”. And then this happened when he left office:

    https://www.nbcnews.com/pop-culture...t-says-goodbye-obama-singing-sir-love-n710376

SNL is very hit or miss. I don’t know how half the skits make it through dress. There just aren’t any really good recurring characters any more. Still love Keenan though. He cracks me up no matter what.

Their dependence on group think has robbed them of any creativity. They no longer have any drive or will. All they have is hate.

I'm finding most comedians to be boring when they start going after Trump. It's just not funny anymore, find some new stuff. It's bad enough I have to watch Trump on the news. I say that as a #NeverTrumper. I despise the man, and am just getting tired of him in all respects. I used to fairly regularly watch SNL, but really haven't in about two years now. They are just a one-trick pony now.

They didn't poke fun of Obama in any critical way until after he won in 2012. Before that they only made fun of him by saying he was too cool. Anyway, for me, the point isn't who they are making fun of, it's just the repetition. Find some new stuff. Trump is getting boring.

They’re not anymore cruel then they were with Bill Clinton and W.

Hell I thought Spicer got the worst of it.

The difference is the amount of time spent on them. SNL has done so much Trump that it's just boring. In earlier years, except for just before an election, the Presidential sketches were just occasional, not almost every show.

He has a series of Netflix.

Netflix being an uber-prog leaning entity with its share of bigoted contributions.

So yes, he did risk his career.

He had some great characters back in the day, though. Loved the "Making the copies" guy (the Richmeister). Reminded me of a friend of mine. The "Put your weed in it" guy was also hilarious.

SNL's ratings had been cancellation worthy for about a good many years showing steady decline season after season.

If it had been any other show it would have been dropped but SNL is NBC's cornerstone so it gets special consideration.

Trump gave them a spike because selling hate to haters is single greatest cash crop known to man, but the numbers are starting to fall again.

That and 11:30PM rating just aren’t a high concern for the networks.
