"Potential Life Sentences" don't mean much. Swipe someone's checkbook and write yourself 4 or 5 checks in my state then you are facing a potential life sentence because you are committing at least 2 felonies and 1 misdemeanor for each check, potentially 3 felonies depending on how much you wrote them for. You'll probably only get 0-3 active unless you have a history.

 

They came to loot, burn, and fight with police.

"The left" is whom? If you're talking about Democrats generally, you're wrong. Antifa enjoyed some support from Democrats (something around 15%) until they turned violent, people saw what they're really about, and their support went to 5%.

Looters and arsonists are criminals. It's not about self-expression. Many of these types are white.

What we really need is better police protection.

I don't know if I would shoot someone doing minor damage to my property, but if you enter my home uninvited you stand an excellent chance of of leaving with your shoe soles visible (if you know what I mean).

 

The only politicians that I have seen act as apologists or rationalize or condone the actions of Antifa are Democrats. Just look at Seattle or Portland or LA or Chicago. Hardly anyone form the left has issued a strong condemnation against Antifa. There is even a Democrat candidate for mayor of Portland that embraces her title as "the antifa mayor". Antifa and BLM are the only two groups demanding that the police be defunded and several Democrats have done everything they can to facilitate that idiotic notion. It's a butt faced lie to say that the left isn't at least turning a blind eye to that violence of Antifa so that they can blame Trump for the violence. I know for a fact that I WOULD shoot someone if they entered my home with the intent of doing harm.

 

After the peaceful protest is over? Gawking? Anyway, I don't think there are many "others" when the looting and burning begins.

Protest marches weren't my way of getting public attention for causes, but I can understand their use because getting media attention is difficult.
