    Nice. Really grows on you.
Puts me in mind if this ELO hit:

As long as I'm making random associations:

Personal experience: while this live version of his song, is good, the one time I'd seen Bowie, I'd not been very impressed; I'd actually preferred his warm up band: Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam.

Now, since I don't want to be the cause of throwing this thread off of its alphabetical track, with my reply, I will include a "G" that relates, in some way, to the original post, I was replying to.

Give me Love (covered by Jeff Lynne)

While I started off, just from seeing the singer's turtleneck sweater, a bit dubious that I would like it (and I also mistook his opening lines, about the Fox, to have made some reference to a "duck")-- it turns out to be a rather lively little jam!

I'm not surprised to read this. I've seen some very poor and boring concert footage of David Bowie from his Ziggy Stardust period. However, I do like a lot of his more recent stuff and this is just a fantastic song (my favorite Bowie song) - turn it up!

Nickel Creek is a great band - my favorite Bluegrass band, in fact, and Chris Thile (vocals and mandolin) is unbelievably talented. My wife and I had the pleasure of seeing them open the Richmond (VA) Fold Festival (c. 1999-2000) when they were touring there debut album and I've been hooked ever since. This isn't one of their more lively songs but it's a beautiful tune and one of my favorite songs:

Apologies to any who find this unnecessarily confusing*, but this submission for our list, is time-sensitive; that is:

    Since this was

    Latin Grammy Night,
I'm going to count this smattering of nominees, as an entry for "L."

A Tu Lado-- Paula Arenas. Obviously, a sweet love song.

    De Una Vez-- Selena Gomez

For those who don't know, Gomez was a star, in her early teens, on one of Disney Channel's stupid shows, for kids-- not a fan. She has been not especially successful, at making the leap, to popular adult recording artist, though not for lack of trying. The funny thing I've noticed is that, though English is her first language, when she sings in Spanish, her music generally (from my limited exposure to it) has a much better rhythm. For whatever that's worth.

This is a nice enough video: rather short, but using a lot of nuanced visual effects. I have trouble catching the words, initially, even with songs in English, and my once mediocre Spanish, is very rusty, but just from the title (literally "of one time") and the initial heart imagery, the song must be about a time when she'd had her heart broken. It is, however, not at all of a depressing vibe.

    Telepatía-- Kali Uchas
And I'll wrap up with what "Latin" videos (or t.v. shows, or magazines-- pretty much any media) usually means to me: sexual content; that's just been my impression (no judgement). I think the meaning of the song, which is sung partly in English, needs no explanation.

The one word that comes to mind, is: Sensual.

Anyone care to add to that?

    *So I skipped over the letters H, I, J, and K.

EDIT: I have a better idea. We can just count this as an additional entry for the last letter scratched off the list-- "G," for Grammys (so no adjustments necessary).

Pretty good. This is my favorite Bowie tune (though the video may seem a bit odd).

Here's a live performance, on a British T.V. show, from 1987, that never aired (if you could do without the theatrics, of the "official video").

Pretty. I can just imagine how much more vivid an experience, it must be, to hear them live; I'll remember the name. In this piece, I especially like the acoustic part in the middle, with the brief fiddle solo, which the mandolin & guitar then join; as well as the later, short vocal counterpoint, and the ending's slow, instrumental dissipation into quietude. I may add it, to one of my playlists-- thanks.

Thanks also, for this reply, btw. My perfectionism got in the way of my responding sooner, as I'd wanted to cue up a particular part of a track, for you. But we'll get to that.

Anyway, your pieces are "sacred" music, which is a different animal than "profane," or secular music, which is what I think of, when I say Medieval music. The interesting thing to me, is that I generally prefer Medieval music, to Renaissance music (though they aren't completely different). Yet, among these two sacred pieces, I prefer the Renaissance one. However, it resembles as much Gregorian Chant, as it does the popular, secular songs of the day.

Here, by way of contrast, are two profane, Medieval tunes, performed by the Early Music Consort, of London. The first is from the
Burgundian Court, of Philip the Good (N.E. France), and it kind of wails, that is, jams out, on an instrument called a shawm. We really don't have anything with quite the same sound, today-- it is a double reeded woodwind, which became the oboe family, but the shawm's conical design, gave it a trumpety projection. This piece is from the late 15th century (1400s).

For this other link, I'd really wanted to have the fourth piece (beginning at about the 2:50 mark) all ready to go, since the first 3 are Italian carnival music. The 4th, though,
from the early 16th century, is the first in a set of dances. It's a really sweet, and lovely version of a dance piece called a Zorzi, played here, with a recorder as the lead instrument. If you slide the little red ball (at the end of the red line, showing where you are in the playback) to just past the sound icon, you should be at the end of the last carnival tune, if what I see on my screen, is applicable to yours.

And, if you're curious, I found a video of people dancing a Zorzi, though it is not nearly as graceful, nor does it evoke the simple beauty, of the music, above.

Oh my God-- what a shock! She was not even all that old. I actually preferred her songs, and singing, overall, to Stevie Nicks's.

At the risk of throwing off the thread, I'd like to honor her, as well (I had actually posted, "Over My Head," myself, not long ago).

It's not that difficult to get back on track. For the purpose of honoring a great lady I think we can afford the departure.

Just as an incidental anecdote-- you know how we all sound different to ourselves, than we sound to others, right? Well, for a long time, whenever I sang, I thought that I sounded like Christine McVie! I guess it's not that farfetched: Linsey Buckingham's singing could be mistaken for a woman's voice.

But my voice is actually deeper than that.
