    Banning books is not an important indicator of nazism or the progressive left. It was common practise when libraries didn't let children take out certain books, when theatres and cinemas require proof of age, when Internet platforms are struggling to prevent children from seeing adult material, etc.
    As a society we hold that protecting children from potential corruption is more important than free access to it so we accept it.
    The same catalyst created the book burnings in the 1930's Nazi Germany. There was a string belief that the material was corruption to their cause, dangerous for children and widespread.
    I do not condone it, but the world then accepted such behaviour as necessary. I sm always surprised when I realise how relative brutality was the norm...how children were treated, how hatreds were accepted, how human rights didn't exist as we know them.
    It is IMO not acceptable to judge history by our modern standards.
    Burning or banning books was a symbolic political act...nothing more.
