    https://graphics.reuters.com/world-...d-maps/countries-and-territories/south-korea/

I'm a huge Starcraft fan and a huge fan of the esports for both games. I was watching a Starcraft 1 tournament and they were talking about the problems with Covid and how some players tested positive and had to reschedule their matches and how they could not cast all the games for the same reasons. At first i thought I was watching matches from 18 months ago but no, there is an onslaught of new cases in that country.

What is interesting about this is that about every single South Korean has been vaccinated. From the same link.

In a country of 52 million people there have been 120 million vaccine doses given. So why so many cases now?

I guess the science is changing.

if true, the number of cases won't be as bad

we need to know cases, hospitalizations, deaths, by vaccinated status

if true most of the country is vaccinated

remember, vaccines are not condoms, you still can catch the virus, all the vaccine does is help prepare your body to fight it if\when you do catch it

:ashamed: ~ It appears the more vaccinations/boosters the more infections... :confuse:'

I'm not or have I ever been anti vax. I have the Pfizer vaccine. I also never had expectations for blanket protection just improved protection.

Still a country that has had 2.3 shots per person on average leading the world in infection rates is pretty damning to those who pushed vaccines as a magic cure and denigrated those who did not want the vaccine.

I'm sure you are correct that hospitalizations and death rates will be very low but it will not stop governments from using that to oppress people. I'm sure the democrat party is dreaming of a similar outbreak here so they can go back to the way it was.

By the way I love South Koreans. I dream of going there. Part of it is my love for Starcraft but I love the culture and love the food and they are among the smartest people in the world. It's a great country.

I was just saying number of cases means nothing without knowing all the numbers, cases, hospitalizations, deaths, all by vaccinated status

"I'm sure you are correct that hospitalizations and death rates will be very low"

glad you got your vaccine, and agree with that part

I do agree people can be fearful of cases going up, but if they got the vaccine, it's more like the flu

"In a country of 52 million people there have been 120 million vaccine doses given. So why so many cases now?

I guess the science is changing."

and that kinda stuff is what scares people

now, if it was a new variant, that bypassed the immune system, which is why we need numbers like cases, hospitalizations, deaths, all by vaccinated status

for two reasons, one to relieve people's fears if possible, or to tell us there is an issue that needs may need to be addressed

They have a high infection rate, but a low death rate, so they have rolled back restrictions and it's unlikely they will be back anytime soon.

Same in Australia. Since we are extremely well vaccinated, no more masks or restrictions except for medical facilities. The virus is really ripping through, but only a dozen or two deaths are recorded per day.

Not to mention that they appear to be a healthy, slender people, compared to Americans.

The science hasn't changed, the virus has. We are using vaccines developed for a strain of the virus that no longer exists. The vaccines have been obsolete for a while. In 2020 South Korea was the darling of the epidemiologists for its amazingly low infection rate. It just goes to show that the virus is in charge. The good news is that the virus people are catching these days is far far less dangerous than the original. That is normal for a corona virus.

The vaccine that they tried to force on every American and tried to use to divide our country is not obsolete. Thank you.

Really? So how do you explain the fact that it doesn't help prevent covid infections? What does it do that is important to you?
